- These Turbo T Buick's are absolute sleepers! I have driven a few of these and it seems like 770 wheel horsepower is a great range for these cars, the v6 makes such a unique sound plus being backed up by that huge wastegate blow off just makes for loads of fun! So sit back, and enjoy the ride...

Ultimate Sleeper? Not in 2020. The sight of ANY mid 80's Buick Regal on the road today sends a message that it's most likely a force to be reckoned with.
Austin Powers to the basic eye, it comes across as an old grandpa car, most car guys would know but without looking at that tire it’s hard to tell how much power this car is putting down
@@AutotopiaLA You missed my point. Any car guy would know that it's been over thirty years since these cars rolled off the assembly line in Flint, Mi. All the "grandpa cars" are long gone. Any two door Regal on the road today, GN or not, belongs to a serious gearhead and you know it's going to be quick. At least that's the way it is where I live, which is the hometown of GM in Canada.
@@AutotopiaLA Heck, you couldn't even tell back in the day. The 6 second (1/8 mile) cars sounded just like the 8 second ones lol....
Totally agree. Nothing Sleeper about a G body.
Austin Powers Shaun, I gotta go with the gang on this...no one into American muscle underestimates T-type Regals in 2020 or back in 2000 even!
Gotta love the turbo buicks of the 80s. This car was super clean. Really liked the stock interior, sit in first class comfort while doing block long burnouts.
Brian spangler pretty much what these are made for! Nice 80s valure couch seats with enough power to smoke tires all the way through third gear😎👊🏼
Now THATS a sleeper..wow...killer Regal I can honestly say I've NEVER seen.
Younger gen don't Knox any thing about this.
This is the car they should’ve had in training Day
I agree!
Great call
As much as i love this car more than the monte carlo, that particular one bagged and all definitely fit the persona of a hood detective. If he was driving this id question his blackness for sure.
Delta Coman They could just put a Joe Biden sticker on the back of it.
@@dangerousfreedom4965 you got me with that one 😂😂😂😂😂
Finally a real cali style car. My first drag race at the the track when I was in high school 25 years was against a grand national. I ran a 14.2 and the Buick ran 10.4. Didnt know anything about them and went home and found a t type and bought it.
This channel is a MUST WATCH for anyone, who is a true automotive enthusiast!! No favoritism to any particular brand but, anyone who has built a street car much love 😍
I should’ve never sold my GN 🤦♂️ boy I miss it now
That hindsight, always 20/20.
I was looking at an $11k first gen CRX Si on Ebay yesterday thinking the same thing.
How could you! OMG!
Womp womp
Me too bro....my heart still hurts all these years later after selling mine...what a dumb ass I was!!
Me too, glad I still have my low mile Turbo T Limited, bought it from the guy who special ordered it. Wish I would have found a way to keep my 87 GN too, had boty for a short while, sold it for a stupid price by todays standards, like 10 grand range 20 plus years ago.
40 years old, been around these since my dad bought his GN in 86. Iv owned my 23k 87 GN for 20 years now. I love how you’ve featured a few turbo Buick’s now. Also I spotted that Syclone as you guys pulled out. My first car was Syclone #879... biggest regret was selling it. Anyways...Keep up the good work
Jeez what did you do as a kid...those Syclones were rare and big money when they were new lol...
Robert Elmo i bought it in 1997 when I was 17. I was the second owner. My dad got the financing, and I made the payments. I think I paid $450 a month for it. Was a long time ago, so I don’t remember exactally. But years ago I posted on a message board for syclone a and typhoons asking if anyone on there owned it. About 3 years ago the owner found the post and tracked me down on FB. Turns out the car left NJ and is now in the Virgin Islands. I forget which island, but he sent me pics of it there. Still has the 3in stainless steel exhaust I installed in 1997! Told him if he ever sells it, I want to be contacted first for a chance to buy it back. I have a lot of memories with that truck!
Should have kept it in the garage
4:50 Syclone!!! I've been blessed to own a T limited and a Typhoon. Both cool cars.
Awesome! Those rear meats are about the only giveaway that this Buick is a beast, but by the time you notice them it's already too late. I love the velour interior, too.
TheGunfighter45acp great comment, the tires are definitely a give away but other than that it’s a total sleeper 👊🏼
But then I noticed how Ralph's race face came on when the tires began to break loose.
YES!!! Just as badass as they were back in the day.
sidefx996 super Badass 👊🏼
More so, far more so!! Beast!
Those Buicks were the ultimate sleepers.
They really weren't everyone was aware.
@@springwoodslasher79, car people were aware for sure, outside of them I'm not so sure.
So its actually spinning as you are rolling.....? Yeah thats what boost does! Gotta love it!
LOVE IT 💪🏼, BRINGS ME BACK TO THE LATE 80' TO EARLY 90 👍🏼. THANKS
One of the baddest cars ever built in my opinion! Love the GN's, turbo T's and limiteds. Would love to have one of these one day
What a beast!! I also have a (relatively stock) '87 Limited Turbo with the same color interior! It's one of the keepers in my fleet for sure. Seeing this does kinda tempt me to step it up, lol
Gbodys looks the best to me period. Ttype Regals has always been my favorite Regal because of the color options, with the GN spoiler packages.
Super cool friend has one in white with a half top in white, his interior is the same and mint, he's pushing around 500 but he runs low boost, he's got a small fortune under the hood so can't say I blame him, it's terrifying driving that yacht playing with the pedal.
Ralph is awesome. Not only let's you drive but tells you to get after it. Badass car
Really cool guy!
In general I'm not a GM man but I've owned a few of their cars.......this is the only one that just really turned me on from this time frame.....just something about them.....the shape/the stance/something. I love the fact that he's been able to push this much horsepower out of a V6. Amazing! Thanks for the upload. When that wastegate pops, it's better than LOVE!
I absolutely LOVE it when the owner tells you the power rating!! Your voice sounded like you were choking on your SOFA!!!! :'@D Absolutely loved this car - Night Rider on the outside, Night Club on the inside!!
Great comment!! Night club on the inside 😂
Finally some G body love!
I'm an old man, but lucky enough that as a kid in in the late 80's to have this car in my garage. It was my parents rofl.
Man, when they were out of town did this thing terrorize the streets lol... no 60's muscle car was safe!
3.42 posi, ran 9.18 in the eighth mile bone stock. Dark red...computer cluster, sunroof, little cute shiny wheels lol...
Need to get those 555R's off that thing, need the new MT ET Street SS for that kind of power.
🤣👍🏼
Always like the GNs/T-types, have driven several (mild to 500hp ish) (the second gear burnin' rubber is legendary), just late 80s GM at it's best. A buddy has a 87 GN, mild upgrades, GNX wheels, show quality, a reminder to me how awesome these were. Keep the good stuff coming
That was third gear in smoke
Very special cars, very unique with a cult following. Can’t wait to get mine done!
JohnnyG I love how there’s a cult following for these cars! And everyone I’ve met so far is super cool👊🏼
Man this car is bad ass and to produce that much power from 6 cylinders is so awesome! Love the build!! Ralph seems Iike a cool dude too!👍👍
The Indy block...stage II...If you didn't have a Buick V-6 in the late 80's, early 90's you weren't going to be on the pole at Indy. Porshe worked on the engines with the Menard team. Fuel pumps ultimately cost them their best chance to win but the Buick's breathed fire like no other. Great car.
That's one tyre shredding Buick! Love the allover look and whole build is just awesome, good job Ralph. Thanks for showing us Shawn, real bad ass no nonsense car 👍🏻
A friend of mine had that car when growing up. It was fun even at the stock level.
First time I drove a slightly modified GN I have to say it surprised (scared) the hell out of me!!
that rolling burnout was a thing of beauty
I’ll marry that car I mean full wedding an all
Beautiful car!! My older brother had an old Cutlass that him and my dad swapped the 305 out for a 400. Always loved those body styles.
Just sold him my basically stock 87 regal turbo. Nice guy and great to deal with...and that car is badass
the column shifter is a nice touch along with the pillow seats.
Must love the t-type /grand national. They are so impressive what guys get out of the 6cyl. My wife sees the grand national logo and calls them the car that does good on roundabouts. But she knows to respect them .
I'm a "FORD" man owner of a '91 Mustang Notchback brought new in '91 "MODIFIED" streetcar but I always loved and respected those Grand National's and T-Type killa's
These have to be respected no matter what your brand is
The Mustang was the only car of that could give the Buick a run for its money. I had (still have) a T Type and did some racing when I was younger. Trans Ams and Z28s couldn't touch me. If I came up against a Mustang it was 50/50 who would win. I'm not a Ford guy but the Mustang was definitely a force to be reckoned with.
@@AutotopiaLA Would he ever sell that beast
That chrome grill looks dope! I usually prefer the black on black but this is nice
I had a 83 Limited and I can vouch for those seats being damn comfortable, I miss that car but it was never the same as owning a T-Type or GN.
Next time I go to LA, I’m definitely stopping by
I remember giving my friend a ride to work in mine and scaring the hell outta him merging onto the interstate when the tires blew off. This was after I had to explain to him that it was better than a Monte SS and it "only had a V6". Haha.
Crazy what these 6’s can be built into!!
@@AutotopiaLA Yeah the LC2's are very under rated, but I cannot believe you got to drive a Stage 2 powered Limited. Buddy Ingersoll had rules changed for him in drag racing with that engine.
@@AutotopiaLA I also spotted that Syclone.
I always preferred the Regal T type over the Grand National. Beautiful and Badass Build😎
Man I'd love to find one of these that hasn't been touched. This is such a iconic car for Gbody guys and for a street car they are so cool......Drive it to the track and run 5's all night then drive it home after roasting a bunch of mustang's and Camaros.....Great video........
That's sweet. Always loved the Grand Prix after the body change in late 70's. Gotta build one of these.
Wow never seen one, the interior is like my 78 year old mum's house 🤣, what a car , regards Richard London UK 🇬🇧🏴
Great car from an awesome era, I had no idea that model even existed.
Love these turbo Buick's! would love if the video showed more of the suspension details, etc!
Nice, that’s amazing power coming out of the engine! Nice to see something different... cool👍
This truly is a badass Buick and looks like I would be so much fun to drive!
The Host is Great !
flyonbyya thank you! I Appreciate you checking out the channel 😎👊🏼
Honestly want to know who the loser is who gave this a thumbs down , this video brings everyone to a happy place
Chill, those are just ausie bois who are trying to like this video :D
Probably a lefty ...
Pirana 86 😂😂
Pretty sure they are base model mustang owners. 😂
Nope thumbs down are challenger owners !!
I love the smile and the owner's face!!
He’s a G-Body guy! See if he has a mid 80’s Monte SS. Looking forward to that Grand National tho!🚘
87 gnx is my dream car... but that one was bad ass !!
Dude. The drag rims are giving it away. If someone saw those instead of some grand national rims, they're gonna think it's already modded.
That’s true but otherwise it’s pretty sleeper looking
@@AutotopiaLA you're right. The rims are the only problem, thought
These little v6s are bad azz. Love them.
They really are especially when built like this
This is sick one of my favorite I had 87 Grand National I've had alot of cars since shes still my favorite..
I've always liked these turbo Buick s but this one is a vicious sleeper ,really cool car
These 80s buicks are freaking cool as all get out!👍👌👍👌😎😎
I have a procharged 3.8 mustang that makes 322whp but a 87 gnx is my dream car. Good video.
These things built are pretty crazy
A sleeper restomod like dat buick? hell yeah Sure its rare for autotopia but the Owner itself is like their thang and from the intro its just as dope
My favorite car on CZcams. Just wicked.
It’s a badass ride for sure
That's awesome! I'd put slightly wider front tires on, the skinny's make it look kinda fragile LOL.
Badd Azz G bodys! I owned 3 of these 2 GNs and a Turbo "T" which was a Stage ll oncenter build by Kenny Dutwieler , still have one GN I need to put back together.
Sell the GN. I’m ready
Outstanding build! But As stated by interviewer ,,"G bodys not my thing" Much more to speak about on this build ; If its the original 200 4R trans, it is all billet parts ,Also,Only a few converters out there will do this car justice,,With good gas and 30-35 Lb boost should make 1000WHP. The rear diff need some help at this level if you run a good M/T tire. Not many cars making this kind of power and can get reasonable MPG. Mine runs in the mid low 10's with around 600HP at 3500 LBS.and runs at 170 temp and gas mileage around 20.
Thanks for the added info here. I love learning about all the variants of cars we shoot
Nice to see a regal. Grand nationals have kinda taken the spot light
This is when you want to bring your living room's couch on the highway... just missing TV and fridge to put your beers.
Hilarious! 😂
Love that manscape promo.. got the 3.0 myself
Love the limited, bench seat and column shift, rarer than the GN.
The true charm of the Buick 90 degree Vee Six turbo is that all the nasty drone of a stock V6 is replaced by a beautifull Turbine whisp. Gorsh, its perfect. T Type Rocket. 770 hp to the bags. Yehwooooo!
This not a sleeper .this is one of my all time favorites
Such a beautiful machine! This car is one you just bow down to at a car meet.
I love your personally can watch you all day dude..soo kool..with describing these cars..that's why I subscribed..ps..awesome regal..sounds bad ..
These Buick’s are wild!!!!
Love these cars, the executive hot rod pack a lot of punch for a V6!
That is sweet! in the old days we called that the Pro street look, absolutely perfect.
Love the look and power of this ride
Finding one of these in mint is like trying to find a grand national in mint....two bad azz cars
you can find them 7days a week, just need money.
One of my top tens!!!👍🏼
That car is awesome. Perfect stance too. Great job sir! Love the half roll cage too. Is there any chance to get the wheel and tire specs for the rear?
Wow what a badass turbo regal.
Definitely a badass
Urghhh the memories i owned at one point in my life a 85 monte ss, 83 buick t type, 83 and 87 cutlass Supreme i loved the g bodies
That's a bad ass 6
Alex Velez it definitely is a badass👊🏼
That’s the definition of sleeper

Love the turbo Buick’s, my all time favorite cars!! You film the Syclone i saw in the background?
1:00 front tires are mounted backwards.
lol only you
You are right, but a freak man.
I'm glad you didn't ls swap it to get that much power out of it....just shows how much power you can get
out of these turbo buicks!!
Dear Brother, your videos are beyond cool.
i love your content, but mostly your character, you do these shows absolutely perfect.
RESPECT
Thank you! We really try our best and have such a great time with it all
I had a 83' limited with a off white with a burgundy leather top lowered and some white walls and some Daytons.
Super similar set up to mine! Love it i kept the ac as well. Good job
You must have a cool one too then 👊
Amazing regal t type👍👍👍
Kool ride BrotherMan ✌🏼
Been awhile for a shout out brother! Love the channel and still putting out great content! Don't forget if you ever make it to Austin Texas you need to hit me up for a ride in my car that has been in my family since 1966.
These Buick Regals are a great project cars and you don't need a GN or GNX Coupe unless you got the money for it
That interior is awsome great car ....keep well boys
Great video, Ralph is a stand up guy. Ask him about Bates maybe you can do a segment there and get deep in the So-Cal Turbo Buick community.👍
LOVE THIS
Nice moving smoke show.
Always loved this model as a lowrider..second only to 62-64 impala.
