A more probable intro: "Welcome back, today we’re going for a test drive in a 1987 Bui…annnnd it’s sold."
I love those cars! I call them the Darth Vader cars. And boy do they hold their resale value. Beautiful car.
Nice ride. I had 2 back 20 years ago. One was a daily and one was the race car. Got in some trouble street racing with it and sold it to my dad. He still has it.
My favorite G bodies of all time i drove my cousins 1987 Grand back in the day and I've been a fan since I own 2 buick regals one was a roadster 1984 and I had a 1986 limited regal two tone copper and burgundy I regret selling them they are worth a mint now those buicks bring great memories you have an awesome piece of automotive history
Absolutely love it. I had one many years ago and it was so much fun to drive. She turned heads everywhere we went. Sadly she was stolen, or I would still have it today. This one WILL sell quickly!
Stolen? Damn, I'm sorry to hear that! :(
@@LITTLE1994 Thanks man. I still really love these cars. Interior was the same as this, but exterior was a shade of silver called Sunburst Silver. Some day I will get another one.
@@waltereturner Yeah, good luck on that, cause those GNX cars are sought after like crazy even though they aren't V8 cars. Personally, I wouldn't mind having one, as those turbocharged V6 Buicks were indeed fast for their time, but I still perfer my 1989 Crown Vic LX over it...
Funny when I was out washing mine that's the second thing a guy told! I like your car you better keep it put up they get stolen alot.
Got me drooling over here!! One of my dream cars since I was a youngin!! Beautiful example of the make and model!!
Always loved that "flatliner" door ajar/fasten seat belt sound. My mom's 1979/1980 Monza had it.
Damn 28K now for a T-type. I wish i still had my 86' GN with digital cluster. Sold it in 1999 for 10K with 48K miles. For as heavy as it was it moved fast when the turbo kicked in. I had to have my uncle re weld the rear torque arms just from raw torque power.
Buick didn't make a T-Type for 87. They simply called them Turbo Regals. Unless it was a Grand National, Regal Limited Turbo, or the rare GNX. And Nick, that particular car your selling looks like a rare WE4 as it has black painted bumpers and the gray interior. Check the SPID label in the trunk (the label with all the options listed) and if you see the WE4 code listed, you have a WE4!!!
The WE4 while rare is still not bringing crazy $$ a #3 is worth about 20k and this is maybe a 3 car.
That’s a sweet WE4! You definitely don’t want that powermaster to fail. The pedal will go rock hard. You’ll essentially have manual brakes but the pedal has less leverage than the conventional vacuum brake system. Someone definitely cared for this car. The larger GNX style wheels really fill the wheel wells nicely. I see they put the expensive Billstein shocks on it as well. She probably just needed some fine tuning. The TPS, IAC + the fuel pressure as it has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. The intercooler could have just been heat soaked & it may have just been pulling timing at WOT. I remember you mentioned it was 95.
That car SCREAMS 1980s!
Love it. The paint looks original. Shared it to my friend who is an expert on these cars.
Looks repainted to me .
I love those Buicks with that v6 turbo it looks like a grand national i love it from Mike in Portland Oregon
It’s essentially the same car. I call them twin cousins .
1987 Buick Regal turbo jet black thanks nick
The Gn is legend for the gm lie on power output we had 1 fell off a train and 20 years ago made 311 whp in factory trim. Such a beast little v6 I have 1 myself so comfortable and we all love these
Perfect beautiful amazing looking car beautiful colour thanks Nick have a very nice day mate
Always enjoy these test rides, especially when you get on it!
Great looking car. Watched almost all of your videos and this is the first one I have had to actually talk myself out of. Good luck with sale, but I'm sure it will be gone today, if not already.
Beautiful T. Those wheels would look killer on my white '87. Good luck with the sale....sure it won't last long. My T is the same...seems to like half throttle more than flooring it too.
10:55 Most likely the accumulator on the powermaster brake system. It’s getting pretty hard and costly to find parts for that system. A vacuum brake conversion is the most cost effective option to remedy the problem. All you need is a g-body vacuum brake master cylinder with the vacuum reservoir, the brake pedal to the vacuum brake system car (the powermaster brake pedal doesn’t have enough leverage) & a vacuum block to a TTA to pull your vacuum.
Nice! that Regal has some power!.💨💨 Reminds me of the Grand National great review.👍
One of my favorite cars
That's a beauty right there.
Beautiful car always wanted one but I would settle for a test drive 😁
Buick GNs were prone to clear coat peeling due to heat from the sun and the black paint. Buick GNs were undoubtedly fast for their time and if equipped with small shot of nitrous to get the turbo spinning the GN could easily keep up with most big block muscle cars. Those were the days when cars still had real steel front and rear bumpers, unlike today where most cars are just ABS plastic.
Beautiful Car 👌🏽
Spray silicone in the rubber window tracks that will speed up windows.
Beautiful
That brake light my friend is the powermaster starting to go. How do I know? I had 20k worth of work done to my GN. The car was gone for a year. Got it back to take it on its maiden voyage and that brake light popped on. Let's say I had to spend another grand on convertering it to vacuum with a kit from kirban. No problems since then. That brake system is like oil needs to be changed to function properly. also decompress it when in storage. Hydroboost is also an option but it subtracts a little from the the power steering.
Also...
I bought my 1st regal in 92
Was a 1979 regal w mags in back
Back when beepers were cell phones
Beautiful car
Love it
Nice real nice
Really nice car .
I miss my 1987 Grand National ❤❤❤❤
Damn I want one so bad!
Very cool 👍😎😎😎
Nicest t type I've seen. Never seen a black t type before
Sweet!
Love this black t type looks as menacing almost like the gnx
Check the TPS., it doesn't take long.. U can back probe the sensor signal return lead at the plug to see if the signal is consistent,,, o to 4.5 or 5volts wide open throttle,, u just don't want it to read erratic, instead the voltage should raise n lower according to the throttle position, do it with motor off but key on in run position,, Or just simply replace the sensor if seems easier for you,, but in my opinion it sounds like the TPS could be at fault,, But then again U could consider Maf sensor but I'd lean towards the TPS first.,Nice Video!
turbo lag sometimes causes it to slow.it seems like mabee a second . the throttle position sensor or cable ? usually not a big deal love that car nick .have one in my yard lived a good life 185k on the bottle. but she finally started knockin.. gonna rebuild her..Thanks Nick for the video
That half throttle keeps the turbo spooled up.
That thing is beautiful
Put 10,000.00 in it'll be worth 50gs or so no doubt was well taken care of the bottom was clean asf ❗❗ No oil leaks ,transmission leak ! ❗ would go thru it with a fine tunedcomb ....❗
I stopped in at Maple Motors today after watching their videos for a long time. They didn't have a car I was really interested but they were very friendly and professional. I live in Maine and if I decided to buy a car from them, I am confident it will be a good experience! Waiting for a price on the '57 Ford!
Thank you for coming by
Man that’s nice.
the 87 GN/GNX are the most beautiful cars for 1987
I got to have this 😱😍🤤
Wow 😍
That is not a scratch between the drip rail and the quarter panel glass. It is the G-body flexing. There is a aftermarket brace available for that.
The frame on a G-body is like or very simular to a light duty truck and is more sturdy than a unibody you may not know what a boxed frame is and the reason they don't make cars with a box frame anymore is it costs to much to do it but if you buy a Newer GM fullsize truck or SUV it has a boxed frame and yes they are not cheap l know I'm the original owner of a 1984 Monte Carlo SS the weak link in these cars is the 7.5 rearend that the GN and GNX came with a 8.5 rearend that are much more sturdy the frame on a old G-BODY is alot more durable than you think better than some of this cheap shit they make today
My 1984 Monte Carlo SS has the original frame a 540 crank horsepower aluminium LS that has clicked off high 10s low 11s in the quarter mile since 2008-2021 it hooks hard and goes straight the frame is stock it doesn't have any cracks on the body from the frame flexing my friends 1979 Malibu has gone 9.20s in the quarter mile with a stock G-BODY frame they are pretty simple and cost effective to modify my car has drag springs and rear lift bars drag shocks the Malibu does have coilovers but stock frame both cars have had the rear frame notched thinner and reboxed or welded this will generally get you a extra 1 inch of room to fit a 275/60/15 drag radials without rubbing the frame or rear fender well the other down point with a G-Body is the challenge to fit a decent size rear tire on the back without chewing them up on the frame or fender lip without tubing it
Put this GNX engine in a Camaro or Mustang of this era with sticky tires and it will flex like a paperclip without subframe connectors
@@gloriamaletta8667 g body is not a junk body style. I love 80 muscle cars but they had no power. Just stating that it's not a scratch is a Body Flex
@@nunya2779 you right most 80s muscle cars have weak engines can't argue that but a GNX still has respectable performance even compared to modern muscle cars today or older 60s or 70s muscle cars low 13s is more than capable of embarrassing many 60s 70s bigblock muscle cars
Wow!
They would run with most big block and still to day run with lot new cars
Nice! Won't last long. I'd be surprised if it was sold within 24 hours.
@@GNXperimental That's nice.
I grew up with these cars had a neighbor modify them and race them. This car is definitely not running correctly if it has more power at half throttle than full. Could be anything from tuning to fueling issues. Factory digital boost gauge is useless. Needs a good aftermarket gauge. Otherwise looks like a nice Turbo T. Good luck.
Those cars are awesome..won't last long..
Be gone today
Good Midday My Good Little Bro Nick Southgate Sir Of Maple Motors & That Is A Great Looking 1987 Buick Regal With Turbo
Dyyaaammmm!!
Those are hard to find. Quickest car of the 1980s that's NOT a V8.
Crush it!
Bring it too me..... No strings?! North.old pop
Could have fooled me. Actually thought it was a GN.
Bella. My unicorn.
I almost pull the trigger on this one but I'm waiting on t tops
Grand National was the car to have...6 cylinder was quicker that v8 version..if this was one...nice ride
These are bada$$!!
The seats are all bent up ...im a big dude and my G body seats are like new and my car was a daily driver and 1 of 1226 ever made and i have put over 140k on it
Dam i want that thing
Pop john paul leigh Actkins.. bring to me
NEED THAT IN MY LIFE
🖤👀
It's a t-type but it's gorgeous
What size are those GNX rims
These car v8 killer and still car run lot new cars
Heat and air-con suck power from that engine. ( ps) don't nail it with your hands off the wheel . My 86 GN was stolen and torched in 96 , broke my heart .
damn yall lucky you got one keep it
i predict this car will sell today
Man I wish
G body
Turbo T WE4
Yikes 😬 😬 I was 2 years old in 1987!! #meold
Love the music
Thank you
If I cant get a chevelle..the regal is next in line for sure
This car back in the day was capable of embarrassing most factory cars with a weight of 3600-3700 pounds with driver and 360 foot pounds of torque at 3000rpm are numbers back in 1987 that was unheard of even the IROC-Z with a 5.7 or 350 tpi will be seeing the GNX taillights within the first 2 seconds of the drag race and this includes the 1987 corvette mustang GT all these cars would need some serious mods to keep up with a 1987 Buick GNX low 13s with good traction or drag radials these other cars stock are a good second or more slower than a GNX in the quarter mile that's like 5- 6 car lengths behind to give you idea how much faster
wish it was a T-Top
Not me. I had several T Top cars. You can have them. Just bring an umbrella if you plan on driving in the rain
The rear has a leak in back of the houseing.
I believe these are called grand nationals. Grand nasty.
Looks like a GN but its not. The T Type was available only in 1987 & shares the same drivetrain as the GN. You could order the T type with different colors & get leather seats which you couldn't get in the GN. The T type is actually slightly faster due to weighing a bit less & is very rare due to only being produced the one year.
Thanks for clarifying that. It didn’t have any GN badging so was curious. He also purposely did not say GN and said turbo regal.
("Wat about the,GNX")!!
Brake fluid? Nar. Break Vacuum
Do you still have the regal
In 1987 you could almost buy a new GNX for this kind of money
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman Then your buddy got a hell of a deal. Many sold for double the sticker......
Question Nick, is that your Chevelle you're selling!?
Paul, yes that is Nicks car......
@@ct87gn25 I want that so bad!! Wish I was rich instead of good looking! LOL!!
It's probably already sold
not yet just on hold
Send me more asap
NY
Buick t type
WE4
Sure looks like one. Black bumpers, grey interior. I told Nick to check the SPID label in the trunk for the WE4 code.....
How much down I want that car bad
It's a Buick T-type..Why didn't you just say that in the description?
This car, though technically a "T-type" is actually a WE4 "Turbo T" This was an option added at the end of the production year after Buick ran out of GN two tone interiors. It also should feature aluminum break drums instead of cast iron, and aluminum bumper brackets instead of cast iron.
That's alot for a take Grand National.
