Says a lot that Danny Ric isn't even on the grid this season and he's still the best ambassador for the sport. He just exudes confidence and fun.
Its not what you do on the track its what you do off it.
It's a pity he doesn't really know a lot about the history of F1, isn't it? He could have mentioned Jack Brabham, or Alan Jones, former Australian F1 world champions.
But alas, in America the smile counts, not the knowledge. Or ability.

@@byanymeansnecessary9329 the conversation went from why the rise of popularity of F1 in the US, to why it seems to be so centered in Europe. So I would have thought an Aussie could have mentioned there is connection between Australia and F1: their world champions. But it's like he doesn't know anything about that, he almost admitted it.
It's like professional bike racing: if you want to get to the top, Americans and Australians go to Europe, at a young age.
Btw, in 1980 I did a night shift (from Saturday night to Sunday morning) in Alan Jones pit at the Zandvoort grand prix.
He looks so much healthier after just a couple of months, it's unreal. So clear how much he was underplaying struggling last season

@@sault9 I know that’s just a joke, but you do know that with the Tax adjustment, Red Bull were just over 400k in 2021 & yes, the did get hit with the Full Catering of the Whole Factory that didn’t include just Red Bull Racing ( budget cap only for the Race Team)…Red Bull were completely screwed over by the FIA
He was not underplaying a single thing, this was a show not a report or a recap of his 2022 showing in F1, plus he wasn't asked about that either.

I love Daniel Ricciardo - he is always smiling. He is a great ambassador for Australia - a sportsman who doesn't throw a hissy fit if he doesn't win.
Bit of a contrast to Lewis Hamilton; great winner, terrible loser.
I do a bit of Rallying and I can confirm that driving flat out is very physical. I did one event after getting whiplash the day before and by the final two stages it was NOT fun.
Uh lol he himself has said that he's torn up his drivers room from time to time after a race.
LOL. He threw the worlds largest hissy fit when RB started focusing on their star driver and threw his entire career into the toilet.
And now he's come crawling back to RB to be a reserve...
Great ambassador for Australian sport you say? Yeah, nah... He's made himself look the worst kind of sulking brat by leaving and his mistakes going to Renault and McLaren make him look an utter Muppet from a career standpoint.
You can see he is done. Listen to the interview again. He says which track "he'll be attending as a spectator in the future...." The dude's career is a hot mess inside a dumpster fire.
I'm Australian and embarrassed by him. One of the stupidest series of career moves any F1 driver has ever made.

His fall from grace has been shocking to watch, but it's all on him.
Half of this interview is just him sittin there, wide-eyed, grinning, giggling like an idiot but by GOD do I love him. He's a friggin' puppy!! Really hope we keep seeing him around, he carries that show f'sure. Him and Gunther Steiner.

I have had a night in the pub with him down at the Margaret River Surf comp in Western Australia. He also used to live close to me in the Perth Hills and met him on the Kalamunda MTB trials too. Like most true Aussies, what you see is what you get, likable, funny and whip-smart.

@@ravingmad765 Redbull really struck gold rehiring Dan. Worst case, they get F1's best PR agent; best case, they get that and a driver who has won prestigious races in RB machinery and is likely capable of delivering podiums.
For reference, 5 G's is the kind of force that fighter pilots encounter with hard turns in a dogfight. Formula1 is serious business
He didn’t mention that a high speed crash into a wall you can hit 20 to 40g’s
What I find more relatable is the heart rate.
Not trying to downplay the athleticism required but there's a difference between the lateral Gs that F1 drivers experience vs. the vertical Gs pilots experience.
Arguably vertical Gs are more difficult to deal with.

@@LaniakeaDenizen Fighter pilots only sustain high G for a very short time per flight. It's the high Gs for a sustained amount of time that makes it hard. There is a reason that Alonso's neck is bigger than some people's waist.

I’m probably biased but all of the drivers from the 2022 season are likeable. The camaraderie, support and general goofiness they show one another is what makes them great to watch
And it's all genuine. Met him in person once at an airport, early morning right after a major disappointment, and he was so sweet, generous, kind.
I have met him twice in Melbourne, absolutely down to earth and incredibly likeable.

If it were up to fans Daniel would have a seat in an F1 any time he wants. His grace under the immense pressure of the last 3 years was outstanding. My dream would be to see him in a RedBull & on the grid soon.

Funny how people are commenting that this is “PR” for Redbull when it’s clearly Netflix choosing Daniel as the face of DTS rightfully so this man made that show in the first season and he has the charisma, funny personality and good looks to do these type of interviews, Netflix are lucky to have him he’s such an icon love to see u thriving king 👑❤️❤️
Netflix chose him for a number of reasons.
1) he's cheap. He's not even a driver anymore. Pennies on the dollar now.
2) last time his face is going to be relevant in F1.
3) he's got a good American following
But this is the last you'll see of Danny Ric except for doing donuts in old F1 cars and fetching Christian Horner a coffee in the paddock.

I would say that what i loved in the first season was Gunther! He is hilarious!!
He's probably going to be one of if not the main characters on DTS this year, for all the wrong reasons. Just hope they don't make Lando out to be a dick (at least not unfairly through shady Netflix dramatic editing) to make DR more sympathetic.

Ricciardo is such a class act, a very friendly face of F1 to be shown anywhere, anytime, regardless of how many races he won. He is so loved without even that many wins or championships, imagine if he started winning.

I would say Louis Hamilton in the Mercedes was the face but more and more it is Max Verstappen in Red Bull. This year Max had a car superior to the Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton is the current face of F1, Danny was one of the background faces until recently, hopefully he can revive his career. Before Hamilton it was Schumacher and before him Senna.
Daniel is so smiley I love him for it and he just explain ways for him and still helps ppl understand like ugh he’s truly the nicest person on the grid

If Verstappen leaves than the Dutch fans will leave with him. The same goes for Italians and Ferrari. The Japanese love F1 unconditionally.
