They both have their own humor, Jon easily gets into anything new and always comes out looking amazing and has a more positive approach to things, Richard has a more sour and sarcastic sense of humor and always looks very serious. But they work so great together. I would watch a show like this with just the two of them.

I think Hamm was very considerate during the torturous segment of the show. He stepped up to share a story whilst Richard was obviously too much in pain to carry the conversation
It’s also a psychological technique of getting someone in discomfort to focus on something else, instead of their pain. Hamm knew what he was doing.

This was a really good pairing; Hamm playing to Ayoade's sense of humour and just seemed down to earth. Nothing remotely disingenuous from him.
