    It is so awesome that Ben has his Granddad featured as the key part of his love for JAWS and the start of his collection- “Book and Video...that’s a collection”! Very enjoyable video. Thanks for posting this, I’ve watched it several times all the way through. Great Job!

    Made a big impact on my movie life, still have vivid memories of seeing it at the cinema in 76 aged 11... walking home after, counting the number of deaths, afraid to get in the bath! Saw it again later the same week.

      Yes Chris, I find it fascinating that these men saw it on the television set, when you and I saw it at the cinema.
      I was eight yrs. old, my mother took me. I also was afraid of the bathtub, and fear jumping into dark water of even freshwater lakes to this very day!

    I have a Jaws collection but I also collect shark stuff in general. The game Jaws Unleashed has to be in a Jaws Collection.

    I saw Jaws in the theater in 1975. I was 4 years old. It has kept my silly ass out of the water for 46 years; but, it is my favorite movie.

    I was lucky enough to experience the original Jaws ride at Universal Studios in Hollywood way back in 1980 and got to see the actual Orca boat used in the film. Great memories.

    When the film debuted the toy stores had a vinyl great white and I bought one after school one day for my baby brother.
    It had an eyelet with a rubberband on the back near the dorsal so you could hang it. I would've probably bought one for myself too, but the Lady who owned the toy store, who was a BOMBSHELL, a REAL TOMATO! giggled at me so derisively, that I was too embarrassed to go back and buy another one.
    Wish I had one of those originals now.

    Does anyone know or own any of the shark books chief Brody looking at in his library??

    • @kidmack3556
      @kidmack3556 Před 7 měsíci

      Some of those same pictures were in books that were in my elementary school's library. I remembered those eerie photos right away when Roy Scheider is looking at them in the film.
      Maybe in those occasional hardcover editions for either National Geographic and or Life Magazine?
      It's been a long time ago.
      I believe that the young man that rescued a victim of a Great White attack at Stinson Beach California and was awarded a National Life Saving Medal from President Kennedy is mentioned in that same book, so I think the hardcover book is probably from around 1965?
      As I said I looked at, and that was in 1972-73 a couple of years before "Jaws"
      Also, some of those pictures and illustrations were in the National Geographic Magazine's regular issue which had several articles on sharks and I think that was issued in the early 1960's. I have it... somewhere.
      [Self Edit]
      That issue of National Geographic about sharks also had a fold out illustration with the different species of known sharks, or surviving species.

    There is a collector in the US who has the biggest Jaws collection in the world, He has a lot of original Props, like Chrissys Arm found at the beach, and other unique stuff from the movie... Fascinating because he has so much Original Props! He has also the original head of Ben Gardner.. Just wow, wish I knew how he got all this Originals from the movie 😮😮😮

      Same here. I was 10 and my best friend saw it before me and told me about every scene...but it was not a spoiler in any way. The lines to buy tix at the theater went outside the building and down the walkway to see it when it first came out. I remember like it was yesterday.

    This was a few years ago, but I wonder if he has the *Takara Tomy - "Jaws" Gashapon Capsule* figures and the new *Hot Wheels Premium: "Jaws" - 75 Chevy Blazer "Amity Police Car"* ?

      @justafanofnerdculture7602 Před 22 dny +1

      I actually have the 2nd Takara Tomy set as well as the Hot Wheels custom '75 Blazer. Also, believe it or not, I purchased the 1st series of Takara Tomy toys for a lil' over $60.00 a few days ago! They just shipped a few hours ago. However, they're shipping from Japan so I'll probably receive them in 2 or 3 weeks. I can't wait to add them to my Jaws collection!

    • @wolfjedisamuel
      @wolfjedisamuel Před 21 dnem

      @@justafanofnerdculture7602 That's awesome. I think it's worth the wait. The Series 2 Gashapons are really cool. Aside from the Giant Shark, I also got the Jaws 2 - "Submarine Cable" from Takara Tomy.
      I do wish though they had made one for Jaws 4 , to make it a full collection of Jaws figures for all four movies.

    My favorite movie of all time and Jaws 2 was a worthy sequel. The later sequels were rubbish. I was 16 when the original came out and had a lifelong influence on me. I am fascinated by sharks and the ocean realm generally and became a Scuba diver in 92 and an instructor in 96. I just hope that the negative backlash against sharks that the films originally caused has been replaced by an appreciation of the magnificence and beauty of these animals. I actually think that these movies had a net positive gain for sharks. As perfect a sea predator as the leopard for example is on land or the Eagle is to the air.
