  • I was struck by inspiration this week to make a tubular lock tensioner from some pick-making steel I had laying about. This video was to test out mk1.

Just caught this video. I got into lock sport more by accident. A friend gave me some security locks. 2 or 3 of each . A tubular lock was the first lock i ever picked. . The most difficult was a 14 tumbler dimple lock 6 tumblers each side 2 from an angle. . Lots of head scratches. But hey that was nearly 30 years ago and still enjoy it. . Keep up the great work

Cool tensioner! I've recently made a tubular lock pick/probe. Think I'll be making this tensioner soon. Thanks for sharing and have a fantastic weekend.

That is a great tensioner you made. I have the commercial wrenches and none fit any tubular lock I have so I need to make my own. Great information on how to make one and what to be aware of. Thanks for this video, cheers

    Great tool!!! 😀
    Nice picking!!
I have that KLON tool kit
Had lots of luck with it
Sometimes I use a lot of the bands and use a rotary motion on the tool.
Will try to look back in my videos and give you the video numbers.

Tool looks very decent Dmac aaaand works well. I would be tempted to wrap a thin coat of harness tape round the edges. It needs a sister tool now to do the other type of tubular locks.
I am reviewing tubular lock picks next week. I find them hit and miss, say 60 to 65% success rate.

Grind the little lug off of the key - BINGO you can put it in and close the lock 👍😃
    Nice one mate 👍
Mine was made out of a hacksaw blade and was decidedly 'rustic' compared to yours .
    Cheers 🍻🍻🍻

Nice homemade tool dmac , it looks like it grips much better than the mass produced ones ,I have the huk set & it works almost like a key,I couldn’t believe how quick it worked when I used it the first time, it works quicker than my southord one.
It did struggle to open one D lock but I found if I added one of those rubber castration rings it opened it easily,
Also you can use a small Z wrench which is much easier to use than the goat wrench type tensioners because your hand is not obstructing the pins as much, here’s a video I made of it a short while ago czcams.com/video/rQQrTqd4l1E/video.html

I’ve also found a cheap n easy way to tension those tubular locks without a notch using a similar method, I’ve not made a video of that yet.
