Welcome back everyone to another video. In this video I do a reallllly long and detailed review on how to use the HUK 3 pc. Tubular lock pick set. I think this is honestly one of the best tubular lock picks out there for the price. There are nicer ones but for the price this one is a steal. I have not had any problems with this not working. The only down side is that after you pick the lock you can not tighten the picks in place and re use the pick it self as the key over and over like some of there other versions of the tool, but that is the only complaint I have about this tool. I wanted to do a detailed review about this tools especially because I have not seen a review going over the changes HUK made in the design in the tool which they no longer provide in the newer kits. For the price this is a great tool to start with. I am giving one brand new kit away along with a sparrows special tubular tension wrench for single pin picking. Hopefully this video even tho it is long, helps any of you guys out there who may have been confused by this tool or maybe you had the new version and were wondering why it did not have the tension rods. I try to be as detailed as possible. There are alot of shorter videos out there on this tool which all do an excellent job going over this tool also. Thanks for watching. Please hit that subscribe button and I will see you guys in the next video.
So there's one difference between these two versions. The old version is different from the new version. There's one main difference, which I will talk about shortly. Now the older version, which is different, I have here. And I'll talk about the difference soon. This new version has everything that the old version has, except for one difference, like I said, which I'll talk about soon...... COME ON.
Spoiler; it's the interior tension rod.
I just bought one of these sets five days ago. From wish and I got the old set with the tension rod
For the tension rod, i have a rivet set from harbor freight and the smallest rivets work perfect for the missing piece you just have to cut it to size
That tool CAN actually be locked in place after picking. THAT is what the blue tube with Allen screw is for. After picking you can tighten it, keeping pins in place...
That is correct! Be careful tho when tightening the Allen nuts as they strip very easily and I have one screw that is jammed down into one of the picking pins and I’ve been trying for years to get it out (untightened) etc.
Hi Derek, thank you so much for your very informative video, brought a HUK 7 Pin Tubular Lock Pin with 3 tension pins. After watching your video took 3 goes 7.5 to open my private safe, screwed to the floor that had a lost key and flat batteries. Very very excited. Don't need to be added to giveaway
Your welcome!
Great help for the new guy learning the trade. I did order that kit. my wife lost her key. I have mine, almost lost it
outside last week. God bless. Thank you. Lee Lemon
That’s an awesome name.
@@psychonautic7779 It has to be the best name ever. By far and away the best.
Ty very much for this exceptional video! I just purchased the Huk kit because I bought a vintage soda machine 4 years ago and I just never got around to drilling the lock. Now your video and the kit will allow me to see what’s inside!! When/if I’m successful I will let you know if I got rich! Blessings!
Good Luck Let me know. If you need any help lmk I’ll send what I may be able to do to assist you as far as other steps/options.
A great review video.
Really appreciate your time.
Thanks I am better informed now.
Thank you.
huk give away. nice giveaway bro. these are great tools to add to anyone's tool kit. also I like the second camera view.
I got you added. Also thanks for the input about the camera.
Do you have to remove the tensing rod to open a 7 pin tubular lock that only has one notch? Bought hulk lock pic kit last week on eBay that had tensing rod. Thanks
Ummm. Lol j/k.. thank you it's hard to find a solid in-depth explaining and training video. The first time I bought the set I destroyed the red and yellow plumb. But after this video. I reordered the set and did as you showed. 100% success. Truly and honestly....... THANK YOU. YOUR THE BEST.
Glad it helped
Just watched this video a little over a year after it was published. I must say you explained perfectly and in detail how the tubular imprisoning lock pick works.
Nice job 👍🏻
Thank you very much!
Anyone who watches this video and doesn't open the lock they need to open is brain dead lolol Great video good insight on how to open your lock with this tool thank you brother keep up the good work
I just recieved my set . I got it off of wish 8/24/2018 . All 3 have the little pins pre installed
Huk Give away. Nice video and your rambling is very valuable and informative. Thanks
Doug
dhw101 well thank you I'm glad you think so. Also I got you added for the giveaway!
Just purchased one from Amazon it was like the old style but all 3 were already installed.
Nice HUK give away. Very thorough review. 👏
Thank You. Are you entering the give away ? Not sure if you were just saying nice huk give away or if you were like nice. Huk Giveaway. Just want to make sure to add your or not.
Derek McClemens I'm sorry. No. I have the new one without the tension rod. It's okay, and I would rather have it go to someone who doesn't have a Tubular Lock pick set. Sorry for the confusion.
No problem. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks for letting me know
I bought a set from amazon the other day. It was the old kit with the rods free 2 day shipping with prime...
I've got a little key lockbox on my house I've tried to pick manually but can't tension properly so I just ordered this kit so hoping I can finally remove this ugly black box from next to my front door!
Fyi. I just purchased this item from Amazon on 8.7.18 and received the old style with the tension rod built in.
I bought the new one and installed the rod. The rods came with it.
Very great video I’m glade you said all of that AND EXPLAINed everything. HUK GIVE AWAY 👍👍
I just purchased a 3 piece kit by Klom, all 3 picks have the tensioner bar in it, I purchased it on Ebay october 2019
This was very helpful, and you were very helpful and I appreciate your patience
Good video I tried to pick a washing machine lock uses the light blue did everything you said. Wouldn't work. Lock said esd not sure if that matters.
Also if you tighten the blue collar down it becomes a permanent key you won't be able to zero out the L wires
The tensioning rods are simply not required. Their removal allows for tensioning locks that have no notch in the centre-post to drive the lock. However, I think it is nicer to have the option of having it or not and removing it if necessary, like the Southord one allows.
I know they are not required. At first I did not notice any difference but then after trying them both I found that I got a slightly faster time on tubular locks that had the notch where the tension rod could be used but it wasn't any thing spectacular time wise. Like you said I just like having the option to use it or not if I want to.
😮
Thank you for explaining this to me.
So you're saying that modern tubular locks can be opened without a tension rod right?
I got a Huk tubular pick set & the yellow one has the hole for a tension rod. The other 2 have no hole. They also didn't even include the rod for the 1 that has the hole.
HUK Give Away.
Great video. I am a Biomedical device designer and I was going to install a tubular lock for the circuit security, this video really helped me understand the tubular lock.
rishabh harlalka thank you !!
6?5 years later is the (huk) giveaway still in play???
HUK Give Away. Nice video. I managed to buy one of the old sets at a local reseller. I got the kit for only $5.00. Now I know how to use it. Thanks
Bought this set from ali and it's the old version. Didn't know anything about it so guess i just got lucky getting the right set
nice huk giveaway,i really like the longer videos,i learn alot the way that you explain everything.keep the videos coming.
Thank you. I will. Were you entering the give away or no. Thanks for the feedback also glad that you get something out of the videos.
yes, iwould like to enter the huk giveaway please.
Ok I got you added to
Great explanation. Thanks for this detailed info.
Huk give away I watch the whole video very informative keep posting them I love to watch and learn
Put an appropriate sized hose clamp on and tighten it down on the pins. You'll have a working key until you wish to remove the clamp.
I don't know what I am doing wrong. I bought the HUK set 5 weeks ago and I can't open anything with it. not my training locks, my safe nothing. I have watched all your videos and no help. I followed them to a T. Do you have any suggestions that might help. thank you for your time Chris
I found the older version and i just got it in today and ya its off of the geek app took about to 3 weeks to arrive!
I bought one from amazon that came with the tension rod.
The huk kit I have does not have the tension rods and I'm having trouble with certain tubular locks
As a victim of the journey down the rabbit hole of locksport and a newbie tubelar locks r my next venture
16:01 how does it work without the tensioner if you have a tubular lock with the tension slot?
I bought this set and none of them fit my lock. Do they make a larger size?
Got my huk set today July of 2023 and it came with the tension rods so kind of happy about that but this is crazy how easy it is to get into other people’s machines it seemsl like it should be illegal don’t you think
I bought this kit but none of them fit over the center circle to push in. Do they make a larger diameter than the 7.8 that comes in the kit.
They have larger sizes tubular picks.
There are size 8 & 10 pin picks.
How many pins does your lock have?
Nice, can u show how to get a key cut from this impresion in pick?
I ordered this set from banggood not too long ago and it doesn't show the pins but it came with the pins.
Hello can this work for a safe that I lost the key too? The batteries to it died before I could replace the batteries and now I am locked out of it. The safe has been discontinued its from 2014.
Helpful video too, thanks!
i am supposing, theoretically.. a tubular key could be made with a piece of tin can metal.. You just need to space the notches on the edge of the tin to the correct depth. It might not be as durable as a tubular blank that has a notch ground out of it for each pin. but with a notch guide. it could be cut in a flat position.. I am guessing it may even be possible to 3D print a tubular key with a template.. then just feed it the correct mm depths for each notch?
Thank you for showing video
Just TRIED to listen/watch your video, but couldn't stand more than a couple of minutes of it. UM, you didn't UM say UM enough , UM ! GEEZ !!!
for some reason mine wont work the pins on the pick raise the same amount every time can u help
Nice vid. Would this tool work for laundry machine?
Huk Givaway. Great video!!
Thank you! And sorry I need to update the description, the give away was back in 2017 and has since ended.
Just ordered mine off amazon and it’s the older version $22
Holt shit you took a lonnnngggg time to explain how you moved the colar to level the picks..... but in depth sort of. Ive been at my elevator in my building for a few weeks on and off and cannot get it to budge, i just want to turn the fan switch on for the cab. hahaha maybe il ring the company and beg someone to come do it
Amazon vhas the old version for about $18.00 its prime eligible.
Malfisto thank you
They provide tension to the pins
Hiking giveaway
Cheap set but GREAT for beginners.
Haha meant huk giveaway.
Stupid predictive text
dave sheehan sorry give away is over now , thanks for watching tho !!
gostei das ferramentas
Dude, you are my new hero.
Glad to help!
New subscriber repetitive info I feel is good helps plant that important info in my memory. So you just keep on rambling.
Mic out tension Rod , cut drill bit stock make my own ... what size is it
I've watched so many videos and tried so many times and I can't for the life of me successfully pick a lock.
Keep practicing. It’s all about feel, getting responses from the lock and “feeling” those responses on the pick!
Good review but this dude was geeked when he made this
I just order one off the wish app and it came with the Tension rod
Great content!!!
Thank you very helpful
I just found the 7.8 mm with the tension pin yesterday... Bet someone is missing it today....
How would you pick a tubular lock that has the notch with the newer pick that doesnt have the tention bar?
lcplhall still the same nothing changes except you don't have a tension rod installed
@@derekmcclemens3901 then how do you apply tension
Just push till arrow is about 1/16 inch away from lock
I didn't even know what the tns bar was for
And still worked😏@@user-os2io9yj4f
Huk giveaway. Thanks man!
I got you added.
HUK 7 Pin Tubular Lock Picks thanks
I have a set of these picks. Thanks to a review by the Lock Picking Lawyer and your video I found out the tension rods could be removed and how to do it, so I could open a tubular lock with only a recess in the outer ring. Many, many thanks.
I have a gun safe I lost the keys for. It has only the slot on the outer ring. You’re saying this is this set to get?
@@vonkanon3091 This can do it, but you'll have to check that the tension rods are removable if they are installed. Additionally these will only work if the lock has the same springs under each pin - some locks have different strength springs to stop this kind of tool being used. I suggest you look up videos about 'picking tubular locks' on youtube - these type of locks aren't that difficult to pick without this tool.
I should just add, I wouldn't recommend using these as a permanent replacement for a key.
Video starts at 16:48
❤
Doesn't work for my lock n public storage.
What are the white washer for
Very Nice video !! Is it possible to use a 8 pin tubular lock pick on a 7 pin lock. ??
Søren from my understanding ( have not tried it ) it should work but it all depends on which model you have and the lock it self ....
No you can’t use an 8 pin tubular lock pick impression tool on a 7 pin lock. I know, I’ve tried. I have the Southord kit which has both 7 and 8 pin versions.
Awesome. A little verbose, to be honest, but an otherwise *excellent* intro to the pics and the techniques to use them. Thanks!
How do I insert a small iron into a small hole?
Wish has the old version.
Ebay/aliexpress sellers who have the older version?
Just ordered from Amazon and it has no date and has the tension pins
🍀"HUK GIVEAWAY"🍀
Does the kit work with 8 pin tubular locks?
No
Awesome video! Hope I win!
Thank You. Good luck
Will this work on a vanlock? Thanks
I don’t know, sorry.
Huk Giveaway
That Cobra tubular is so close to being very good but sadly they left too much room. Camlock Systems make a range of tubular locks with an octagonal post and they are very effective at keeping the tubular picks out of the keyway.
Yes even with upgrading from the tubular to medeco they did not do the greatest job with the universal t handle because my medeco did not fit in the hole the designed for it to begin with and after modifying the hole for the abloy I notice that the medeco can still be exposed. They had a good idea tho.
Huk giveaway..nice vid bro.it would be cool if you could find a way to have other camera looking straight down
Got you added. Thank you. By straight down do you mean like an over head view? The second camera view did not really help to much this video. But when I am picking a lock the second camera view really came in nice when I was picking the lock and then gutting it.
Derek McClemens yes over head view.just a idea
That is a good idea. I may do some test runs and see. Thanks for the idea.
New viewer here. Thank you for the video. I do however, have some constructive criticism. You kind of ramble at times as well as repeating yourself and especially quite a bit of stammering (you should probably know the name of mostly everything you're making a video about, such as names), I would suggest a pop filter for your microphone and/or the pitch turned down. Other than those things I just mentioned I was able to understand mostly everything you were trying to show the viewers. Please don't take this as hate or someone just giving you $hit. I'm genuinely trying to help you since you're a smaller channel. I am assuming you're trying to grow your channel so this is just here for help. If you don't care about growing your channel then disregard, lol. Thanks! 🙏

Huk giveaway
Get on with it
Well I am a female and this is all foreign to me. My husband passed away unexpectedly from stage IV pancreatic cancer. It metastasized to his liver and lungs. I thought I had the key from his key ring but it doesn't work. I never paid any attention to the combination. We never expected him to pass in his sleep. Now I'm stuck with a Union 62978 that I can't get into. Would anyone help me? I can't afford a locksmith as all his money was in the safe. I probably should be putting this on here, but either this is not the right key or I'm too stupid to use it. They key I have is black and it looks like it is the right key but I inserted it, turned it counterclockwise and turned the knob clockwise like the directions said and it doesn't open. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it. I am in my late 50's and please don't call me stupid, but I need someone to explain this to me in very simple terms. Thank you.
If all his money is there just call a locksmith and pay him with the money you have in there🤷🏻♂️
I lied im stay waiting for you to tell me im at the 8.40 mark rn about to fast forward
Hey bro... do you have any 7.8mm 7pin tubular pick you might be willing too trade? Need one asap and have some goodies you might be interested in.
Phat_Boy 412 I have to see I have two of them but the one is broke ish because the set screw is tightened on top of one of the picks and the screw is stripped and I can not get it un tightened
If I can get it fixed ( I'll try tonight before I make the video tonight ) then yeah we can but I was going to order some other kinds including the huk again here in the next week or so
Derek McClemens what brands and sizes do you have right now?
