Avalanche End Regular Season With An Easy Win Over a Resting Edmonton Oilers Team.

- The Colorado Avalanche would have loved to be in the position the Edmonton Oilers were in, where they rested the majority of their top players. But the Avs have not been playing well as of late and they all wanted to get back on track, no matter who their opponent put out on the ice.
The Avalanche did just that in a 5-1 win, which could have been a lot worse than that. Four goals in the first, one in the second was all the Avs needed to coast through the 3rd to finish the regular season with a win and 107 points on the year.
Now the real test begins in Winnipeg.

Getting to see this game in person, I think the Avs played this one for the fans. It was fan appreciation night and it really did feel like they played for us and reminded us why we are all Avs fans. Juice was solid. Hope Georgie lights a fire under his own ass cause they can easily get a new starter in the off season. The end send off after the game almost felt like a goodbye though… Hope they can flip a switch for playoffs. The Avs are capable of so much more and I hope we get to see it in the first two away games.
It did strangely feel like goodbye
My entry into the "I have a dream" contest: MacKinnon turns on his juggernaut mode and we win the gruelling series against Winnipeg. And that's gonna be the only difficult one... Because Vegas tops Dallas, but it's gonna be brutal so they get re-LTIRed on the way + we get the home ice advatage. Next we get Edmonton in Conf Finals; since Avs again get the home ice, are arguably a deeper team and McDavid is scared of Makar - we sail to the Grand Finals. Nevermind who we meet there, the Avs never lost it and won't this year. Champagne already in the fridge 😉 The argumentation is irrefutable. What can go wrong?

It kind of sucks that the teams that suit us probably the least in the entire league (bar maybe Florida) are the ones we have to play to even get a look into at least WCF. Cause because ofc we do.

Was a huge letdown going to the game to see that Oilers team even though I knew it was coming. Really wanted to see McDavid play live. I guess it was good to win and technically if these two meet in the WCF’s, it mattered but it just felt blah. To top it off, got to sit next to two young drunk women who asked what icing was 30 times and on the other side, Avs fan guy who is an adult male dressed like a child who’s sole purpose for the evening is getting 5 seconds of fame on the jumbotron and to do so, gets up to dance like Elaine Benes to every non-melodic song played in the arena 😂
Game was a real yawner for sure. It was basically a game vs the Bakersfield Condors.

Ehh why not try annunen in game 1. Maybe just maybe he had a bad game against the jets for those 2 periods and he'll do better. And if he doesn't do well put georgiev in and have them alternate every other game and try to see what works.

here is the thing about the goalie situation. If you start Juice, that is it, you cannot go back even if it goes badly. If you start Gorgiev, and it goes well he continues on, and if he has a terrible game you can go to Juice. I think that Gorgiev stays in net as long as he does not blow the game. He gives up 3 goals off of slop in front and they lose 3 to 2 he is going to be in net in game 2. He gives up 4 goals on 10 shots in the first, and they will turn to Juice for the remainder of the year...and during the off season they ship him out.
I have 0 confidence in this team going into the playoffs. Depth scoring is still a problem, just like it was last year. 7 game series vs Kraken we got 1 goal from Compher, and 1 goal from EJ, the rest were from the top guys. I hope they prove me wrong.

The Avs will have to play better defense if they aren't going to pay for a better goalie. The Winnipeg saw the defense get shredded in front of both Georgiev and Annunen. We're expecting miracles from our goalies when we allow 35+ shots more often than not.
Makes no sense to rest starters if you're edmonton...you're still competing for points for hone-ice in future rounds. The difference between a championship team and a non-championship team

Coach Bednar called their game after the first period sloppy, so even yesterday, with a bit more luck, EDM B-team could have made it much closer. For the first in many seasons, I enter the playoffs without big expectations - Winnipeg is the clear favorite. Sure, put Annunen in the goal, you Georgiev haters, and they will get swept!! 🤬👎Annunen played vs 2 good teams - he got 6 against TBL and came in vs WPG and got 3 - oh sure, he is "our guy."

Probably the wrong take. I really love and appreciate the captain that hasn't played a game in the last 2 years BUT when it's he going to shit or get off the pot? I want him on the ice, got real. But otherwise, he could be the best captain off the ice and retire. Free up some money for a great goal tender....

Yea, very much so. His money was freed up this season anyway. Plus his surgery is something no player has come back from. They have a timeline and are sticking to it. You rush him and it goes south you go back to square one

Another podcast by Chris and Kyle that is simple to answer. First AVS won thanks to the Oilers putting minor league players on the ice. Big win when you play minor league players. Applause to Mackinnon on surpassing Peter Stastney single season team record. Mackinnon is still 3rd on the Hart voting. Finally, the goalies on this team are a disaster so finding crumbs to support one over the other is hilarious to hear. Awesome Sauce .
