This CD has three separate relaxation/meditation sessions on it czcams.com/users/postUgkxzpa8CIfZcihW4Z0F_ja0QF3W9KIatrsq guided by a very pleasant and direct male voice. Unlike so many other products of its type, this CD does not have bad synthesizer music, does not feature a phony or affected style of narration, and does not make any bogus claims to be subliminal or to re-train the brain or any of that balderdash. What you get is 1. a guided meditation for getting into a pleasantly relaxed state of body awareness while taking a stroll (superb for those easing back into a fitness routine slowly after an illness or injury) 2. A nice long breath-awareness relaxation session that if followed diligently can put you into very deep states of full-body relaxation and mental calmness, and 3. a buddhist-inspired meditation session designed to help you develop and maintain feelings of loving kindness toward not just yourself and your friends, but toward people you don't even like. The CD makes no claims to be designed for advanced meditators or for buddhists or hindus/yoga practitioners looking for very deep and esoteric stuff. It is geared more toward the average person who just wants to develop the habit of relaxation and stress relief through natural, healthy means. him, if you happen to be reading this, keep up the good work fella, and I love your accent. I would also like to note that I have never fallen asleep while listening to this product. I would like to kindly suggest to the reviewer who said this CD makes him fall asleep, that he might want to get checked to see if he has a sleep disorder, or if he is simply not setting aside ample time for restful sleep at night. A healthy person getting adequate rest at night should be able to go into deep states of mental relaxation without dozing off, if not all the time, then most of the time.

I think though that there are very many enthusiasts who really think that an alien culture has already been found or that Sumerians found some; so the scientists are just trying to pull us back a little. Finding the truth is difficult, and even scientists would like to believe that we might come across aliens some day. We forget that on Earth, to get to an intelligent human being from the beginning of life, it took thousands of millions of years. We could make thousands of silly mistakes and pollute the Moon, or the Planets, if we went out into space. Also it takes a long time to cross the universe, and our lives are not long enough to go very far. These are just a few of the problems I have just mentioned of course. I used to try to find Aliens when I was 13 years old, by looking through an old gunsights propped up in the garden. I got excited by what turned out to be a weather balloon! Hehe!!!Cynthia McLaglen

@Ricky Ricky I doubt they're actually left wing. They might be a majority liberal, but how many are actually farther left than that? And in red states I'm sure there are more conservative professors. So your comment lacks seems to lack logic and foundation. Are you suggesting that professors to the left of conservatives are more likely to be egotistical and shut down new ways of thinking? That's strange, because conservatives shut down new ways of thinking by nature. It's in the very word "conservatism". Conserve traditional values/ keep things the way they are. When it's not those, conservatives fight to regress to times that were less humane, or things that hurt the working class while giving a nice boost in pay to the rich.
So if you can provide any evidence that conservative professors and academics don't have similar egos on average than to liberal ones then I'd be glad to read it. If actual leftists were included in the study that would be especially interesting since true leftists care about the well-being of everyone, and making sure everyone gets equal opportunity to succeed.

Killer interview. Love Avi, especially his open mind, scientific discipline, and youthful POV on exploring new frontiers. He's one of the rare members of the scientific elite who lives up to the spirit of Feynman. Thanks Lex!!!

Lex, I’m incredibly thankful for this podcast and the one way friendship I’ve had the opportunity to develop with you throughout the past year. If you ever get the chance, I think you’d enjoy talking to Michael Levin, Jaron Lanier, and Giulio Tononi. Keep making incredible content and spreading positivity!

I started as a kid wanting to be a scientist and that was my aim leaving high school, but then I got sidetracked by my music studies and ended up first as a conservatory teacher and then as a music therapist for all my career.
I always had a casual interest in the paranormal, and as I've got older I've become much more interested in it and metaphysics.
I still love science. I see no reason for there to be any contradiction in the fields.

It's refreshing to hear a scientist, Avi Loeb, Harvard’s top astronomer saying this. For the skeptics, I will quote the following: All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

These conversations are everything GOOD about the internet. Mr. Loeb's commentary about ego and image as applied to theology, science, discovery, and whether humankind survives merely a few more hundred years, or millions more, I found fascinating and inspiring.
