How GOOD Is Jiří Procházka Actually?
Jiří Procházka has taken the MMA world by storm. The Muay Thai kickboxer from the Czech Republic is coming off a huge win against Dominick Reyes. And in that fight, he displayed his unorthodox style on the feet, constant pressure, and granite chin which lead to an amazing finish. He is a must watch whenever he fights. And with this performance, not only do many people believe that he should be next for a shot at the title, but some are saying that he is the future of the light heavyweight division. This is a lot of hype for a man who has only fought twice in UFC. So how good is Jiří Procházka actually?

So Jiri looks like an entirely different person in every fight.
He kinda looks like jan lmaoo
Marlon Vera also looks different
I keep having to double-check which fighter he is.
He’s a taller version of Ferguson
LOL slowly but surely you realize you have seen him fight before but had no idea?
Jiri is the only guy that is conscious and fully aware whenever he visits the shadow realm.
He visits the shadow realm to make a headcount then dips
Chuck Norris wants a word with you
That's funny.
He keeps throwing strikes while in the shadow realm and ends up putting his opponent in there
😂👊💯
Holy shit, how does a guy land this many flying knees!?
They come out as fast as an uppercut...
No telegraph at all. Nicest flying knee I've seen.
I watched it back and he makes it seem like he's going for a takedown so they defend low then he just jumps into their face 10:48
@@captaincaveman471 Actually he does telegraph them, or did at least twice ... if you look at Martin Solc fight, for example. But you can spot it as a "rested" audience better than after being 3 rounds in hell, when you aren't able to see at all ...

Yes.

He's exciting, but he's overrated...
For a kickboxer that sub defense is pretty damn impressive
And takedown defense*
Thaiboxer
Look at his ears, it's not from kickbox
He was kickboxer/thaiboxer only at the beginning of his career. It's not like he was fighting kickboxing as professional and than started with MMA. His main thing was always MMA...
he wasnt kickboxer nor thai boxer, this just draged his attention to fighting sports..
Huge factor is his young age (28) and big amount of fights/experience. How good is he going to be in next 5 years? Cant wait!

Fun fact: Jiri was born in the same year and the same town in the Czech Republic, Brno, as Adam Ondra! A man who is widely regarded in the competitive rock climbing world as the best climber to have ever lived. I’m sure it’s unlikely as Jiri was probably in Japan training with samurai and Adam was probably in Italy climbing the hardest routes in the world as kids but I like to imagine they crossed paths once or twice over the years.
And Adam Ondra is going to represent Czech at Olympic games and Jiří Procházka will fight for the tittle in UFC , god damn i need to buy a bottle of wine from that year
Alex Honnold is the greatest climber to ever live because most would not survive what he have done, free soloing El Cap is perhaps among the most amazing human physical and mental feat in history
Kiiyon is a serious force in sports journalism. Your scripts are tight, engaging, at times prosaic, very entertaining subjects and your style really demonstrates that you’re a student of the sport and an adoring fan as well. I’m really thankful for your work, sir.

When I see that dude I see a champion. I can't lie. I still think he needs to hone his patience of all his skills. He said it himself "I go to hard for the finish and take hits" and in that vane he also said Dom actually did knock him out in their fight but he recovered. So once he can reliably eat less shots he's gonna get belts I promise you. The dudes so fluid and unreadable. He truly flows in the ring
He is still young and he had a lot of fights. He is improving every fight and he is gonna be a champ one day.
Hes a champion fighter don't forget that.

Some of the names you need to try and say properly are almost as impressive as Jiri’s fighting skills.
It's called American tongue/accent
How's saying someone's name difficult when you've already heard it ?
@@nencat419 Well the first 5 minutes of the video is mostly Central/Eastern European fighters whos names have some letters english speakers dont know how to read. The L with a dash through it(like in the name of Blahowicz) is pronounced w, and the letter w is pronounced as v in polish. The r has a hacheh over it in Jiri’s name so It’s supposed to be pronounced as Yirzhee. I haven’t heard anyone say it right yet. Every Central European language writers the letters for the english s, sh and ch sounds differently. In Hungarian for example sz makes an english s sound and s makes an sh sound. In Polish it’s the other way around.

@@mpforeverunlimited It was perfect moments for Jiri to be KO'd. That fight with Nemkov was something else!!

@@mpforeverunlimited He had very intense 10 minutes with Nemkov earlier that evening after which Nemkov could not continue for a complete exhaustment. It says something.
Is there any better way?
I just realized how Jiri had to fight against Slavs all the time in his youth. A monster between monsters came out!
Thats what I was thinking 🤣 Those are some big boys he was fighting
Jiri's a beast.
*2:56* The way he hid this absolutely mythical flying knee and looking tired and just springing up is jaw dropping, and jaw breaking.
Street Fighter :)
beauty.
It was very tough fight, both were death tired, you should watch it
Yea...those fights were fixed
Jiri's fighting style looks like it is purely based on instincts and no gameplan.
He’s said this himself a few times. He was asked what the game plan to fight Reyes was and he said something along the lines of “there is no game plan, I just go in there and flow”
Thats why we love watching him fight
That is not true. His coaches said some details about gameplan. There is always tactics when you fight elite. But the best fighters have high fight IQ so they are able to "flow" and choose on instinct. Similar things were said by Valentina Shevchenko for example and she is totally dominant queen of her division and defeated some bigger ladies than she is.
@@Gumakovec you’re right I was thinking of the spinning elbow itself he made that comment about
Exactly
I'm digging the running win/loss tally
Jiri reminds me of a Prime/Contender Chuck Liddell. Didn’t fight for easy wins, ran into punches knowing he can take them and always has an entertaining fight. So happy to see a new contender similar to my favorite fighter
Agreed, they also started out as karatekas..
Finally someone giving Chuck some love... People always trash him because the dude was an old man who started losing a lot because who had taken a ridiculous amount of damage
"Jiri found success early on the feet by pressing forward and moving awkwardly..." I feel like this will be a common theme in his career lol
Future UFC Light Heavyweight Champion
I’m really looking forward to seeing more of this guy. The style, the KO %… the HAIR! The man is legit transforming into a Mortal Kombat boss before our eyes.
That spinning elbow KO of Reyes was sensational
He almost reacted to every shot with "Oh, that's how it is!?" before swarming Reyes again, complete disdain for the power of other fighters - Jiri is a beast.
Czech guy here, I really appreciate you have done your research and presented Jiří as an experienced fighter with, for his age, quite a long and illustrious fighting career.
I was getting kinda sick and tired of reading and hearing all the comments by mainly US based MMA fans and "experts" who cannot seem to be able pull their heads out of their UFC asses and act like there is just UFC and nothing else.
Many saying Jiří is just a hype, he has only two fights in UFC, his wins in UFC were, for the considerable part, a combo of luck and happenstance etc...
What they see now in his initial UFC fights, is a result of a long, consistent and still ongoing process of maturing into martial arts mastery that Jiří has been on for years now.
They see just a tip of the iceberg, yet are too quick to judge...
It's gotta be a scary sight Jiri is defending the shots thrown at him with his face, and seemed so unfazed as he slowly stalks you and throwing bigger bombs back. Absolute madlad
it was crazy how every time Dominic landed a solid shot Jiri seemed to start fighting harder
Nate Diaz approves
@@DeathProof132 It's funny how everybody thinks he gets hit too much and yes he sometimes gets caught when being reckless but he has it under control and hits harder. His opponents want go back and forth with him and they end up getting slept. He just fights different than everyone else.
@@artas9371 Hell yeah !!

I love when he charges up his right fist. U just know he's about to throw the falcon punch. Watch the last fight he does it way more than in his other fights. When he's moving around he will just grab his wrist and start charging up his fist. I think he's filling it with chakra and realigning his bones to survive a punch that would normally break your hand

How about how good was Clay Guida actually. I thought he was very fun in his prime and a pretty solid wrestler with a granite chin, he just never really had good submission defense.
Appropriate to ask on this video as I’ve often thought Jiri’s relentless pace and unpredictable movements reminded me a lot of Guida, but his striking is so much scarier.
Guida still fighting just domanites mijcale johnson
his stamina is insane
He has such an innocent babyface without the beard :) also never knew has so many flying knee ko's and hits.
His sub defense and Grappling skills overall are extremely underestimated and underrated it's crazy!
Jiri is one of my favorite fighters rn. The guy is a fucking Viking’
A video on Michael Chandler before Saturday would be amazing
The guy is on a 12 fight win streak with his last two wins coming over former Ufc Lhw title contenders.
Put him in the ring with Aleksandr Rakic to determine the number one contender, once Glover and Jan are done fighting it out for the title.
Something is not right. UFC is not promoting Aleksandar Rakic. Maybe Bellator is better?
its crazy how Jiří Procházka went from main event on the prelims to main event with Dominick Reyes witch is one of the best becoming a fan hope he fights for the belt pretty soon
How good was Rich Franklin actually!!

Kiiyon you are the MVP for pronouncing all of those names.
Most of them incorrectly, including Procházka but still better than Chael, calling him Prochaev and Provider xD
Thanks man! Great channel, I'm getting back into watching MMA after stepping away around the time of the Fox merger and/or the Reebok deal. Your work is great for catching me up on fighters and other stuff in the fight world that I've missed. I sure have been hearing and seeing a lot about this guy!
I really liked this video, amazing editing gathering all the clips and really describing a career, while showing it with substantial commentary, Great job!
He actually looks way leaner nowadays, his early fights he was yoked, probably closer to his natural walk around weight.
Also it’s noteworthy how many turnaround fights he’s had. So many of these he completely survived a near knockout and wins.
You know you're good if you warrant a whole new series from this channel.
This video took alot of work thankyou brother

Love watching him, so aggressive it’s insane.
Thanks for the great video, Kiiyon! Jiří is definitely making the Czechs proud. I love you channel and seeing Jiří here made my day. He may be a distant cousin of mine, although this surname is fairly common here :)

Love these vids. I always see myself gaining new appreciation for these fighters after watching.
I think he needs to tighten up his game and work on his defense before he gets in deep with the big boys, but I think he knows that too. So heres to hoping and I look forward to seeing him perform in the future.
Defense won't be as important as normal in the next fight imo. No way could Glover ever hope to out strike Jiri, as he has insane stamina, power, an amazing chin, and great technique. Glover's only way to win would likely be a submission, which Jiri has excellent defense of.
I can see a "How good is Sean O' Malley?" video. Before his next fight

He is as Good as his Antenna. No pun intended.
This guy has the sickest style!! Most exciting fighter to watch right now. If he fought Jan today I believe Jan would finish him. However if they fight on a years time I believe Jiri will finish Jan!

He seems like the real deal. An exciting and fast big guy-looks like a bear in terms of speed and strength. Go Jiri!
Really like you covering active fighters. It would be interesting to look up fighters with only a couple UFC fights, but have experience in smaller leagues.

So much respect to you man. You’re genuinely helping fighters get recognized more.
This is a fantastic idea for a series, I've watched this twice, once for myself, and once for a group of friends
Who's here after jiri won the light heavyweight championship against glover?
I've only watched him fight twice but man did he impress me and obviously many others.
Looking forward to this guy in the future
Yes, my new favourite fighter for sure. Can’t wait to see him again
I love how you give respect to the up and coming fighters by saying their full name and not saying something like "then he fought some random guy named jeff"
I agree, but Sherdog can be misleading in certain parts of the world. For example Martin Solc was only 4-2 on paper but was an absolute OG of the vale tudo scene with dozens of fights under his belt who also did time for murder. So... yeah.
imagine if he got with Josh Fabia, he'd be unbeatable.

Love this new take on MMA fighters. Your critiques and assessments on fighters who’ve hung up their gloves are always on-point and straight forward, and enjoyable to watch. I hope you do continue this “present tense” dynamic in your videos. I know I’ll be watching!
BTW, this is just a suggestion, but maybe a format of “Does [insert fighter name here] still have what it takes?” for fighters who are in the twilight of their career, and whether or not he or she should continue regardless of being too old, too many injuries, too much controversy, etc., you get the idea.
the fact that you got every letter of the fighters' names correct is admirable. little stuff like that honors their heritage and language. good on you mate!
