How GOOD is Paddy Pimblett Actually?
Paddy Pimblett may very become a huge name in the UFC. The fighter from Liverpool became a massive star in the UK MMA scene not only due to his skills on the ground, but also because of his eccentric personality. This lead to him becoming the Full Contact and Cage Warriors featherweight champion. So when he finally signed with UFC in March of 2021, there was a lot of hype surrounding his debut with the promotion. And he delivered as he faced early adversity before finishing his opponent, Luigi Vendramini, at the end of round 1 by strikes. There is a lot of buzz surrounding him right now and many are excited to see how far he can go in the UFC. So how good is Paddy Pimblett actually?

Totally agree, awesome analysis. Thanks for going over all his old fights. His X factor is that outrageous confidence, that will help him get past people he is only comparable to not better than. But confidence or not he's going to get lights out when he meets Justin Gaethje. And I'm saying any of the good strikers are going to win against him. Poirier, Oliveira. He would beat Tony Ferguson if Tony takes a walk from the retirement home but at his best Tony would probably destroy him. I see Paddy as top 5 but not number one. In five years when he fights through some adversity he should probably be peaking I guess. But obviously predictions are difficult, especially about the future. Nick or Nate would probably eat him up, and they both have pet dinosaurs that they used to ride to high school. But who knows, when Paddy starts training with American boxers and American bjj guys he will probably improve a lot. Also, who knows what happens when he meets Chandler or some other nightmare wrestler? I just don't see him as a top contender and the question is how much he can improve when he starts finding new trainers. He's never really faced an American wrestler and the UFC is all full of people who wrestled for 10, 15 years in school.
I believe he's an elite fighter, but two or three guys are going to beat him up any day of the week. Fun to watch and I truly love his jiu jitsu. He would destroy Conor imo but a UFC bjj black belt like Poirier or the Diaz brothers is going to be at least comparable with him and probably better. Might fight to stalemate? Or they will win.
If he doesn't abandon that tough guy walk through punches routine he's going to be noticeably stupider in two years. Might still be dangerous in the cage but he has to get over that.
