How Did Robert Whittaker get SO GOOD?
Robert Whittaker will go down as one of the greatest middleweights in MMA history. The New Zealand born Australian fighter began his career as a welterweight. and he found success early by winning the ultimate fighter: the smashes tournament. But after going 3-2 in the UFC’s 170 pounds division, he moved up to middleweight. And at 185, he went on a 6 fight win streak before becoming champion. Plus he was young and was only getting better. But after being apart of 1 of the biggest wars in MMA history, he lost the belt. And the way he lost it made it seem like he wasn't the same fighter anymore. Especially after taking all the damage that he took. And with a new era of 185ers on the come up, his days at the top seemed to have been coming to an end. But after losing the belt, he went on a 3 fight win streak in the span of 9 months. Which solidified his place as the number 1 contender and the next person to fight for the belt. So how did Robert Whittaker get so good?

@@Venom-xd9st well Bobby was out for year and a half because of a serious surgery where apparently he almost died when I was reading about it. Apparently during surgery one of his lungs collapsed. So going from that to fighting Izzy was a bad idea. Plus Rob said that he was thinking about retiring after the surgery cause he didn't love the sport anymore but realised he was just burnt out and started to enjoy it again. So when he fights Izzy again he'll be a completely different animal. Plus he actually looks like he's improved his game so I I believe he'll win. @@nicholasgutierrez6672 I think he always had killer instinct. He was just very measured in his fights much like GSP, because he knew he could win if he fought safe. But now his striking is improving rapidly since he's working with Whittman. And luckily he was forced to rely on his striking against Colby and Burns, which probably motivated him to become more well-rounded. I think his wrestling style is still very safe (as we saw against Masvidal in the first fight) unlike the Dagestanis, but his striking is violent

Truly one of the baddest most inspirational fighters of all time. And seeing him on fire again and happy is good to see. And I think the re-match with Izzy is going to look alot different then the first...

One of the best resumés ever at Middleweight. Actually, aside from Anderson himself and Izzy, I see no one else who tops his

I saw him walking in the airport in NZ years ago. The guy is massive. He is so buff and he's tall too. Was really surprising because he doesn't look that big on TV. Massive guy

I would honestly say that the dude has astounding character. A lot of people will bully through that which obviously needs some self-care and end up compounding the problem, be it physical injury or emotional distress. I actually applaud him for doing right for himself. Especially in a sport that sometimes expects you to go beyond and write t proverbial checks you cannot cash.
He's also a fun fighter to watch as he balances points with putting in work.

The thing that a lot of people miss about Bobby knuckles is how great his takedown defenses. Against really good wrestlers he's had a lot of success at sprawling out or escaping at the last moment. That keeps the fight on the feet and he's got a big advantage there over almost any other middleweight
