    Very many Evertonians were not happy with Benitez but were prepared to give him a chance. His appalling results over 3 months was the reason he was sacked, not because he was a former Liverpool FC manager. Tactically he appeared a shadow of his former self at Everton and I don't think he is now up to a PL job.

    This is just excuses. This man takes zero accountability. Conor Coady a former red, is absolutely loved at Everton. Don’t get me wrong his comments about Everton definitely help but 1 win in 14 games was probably a bigger contributor as to why Evertonians did not think he was good for us. 2. You are guaranteeing a future that never happened - Are you Moses? With a spend of 1.7 and a positive net spend (considering the 10 mill sale of James Rodriguez who is now a confirmed Arab league failure) he didn't seem to have done too shabby a job until Calvert Lwwin relapsed, Tarkowski played rugby with Richarlison and Yerry Mina crumbled. In between of course there were the smatterings of beating the likes of Arsenal, getting results against spurs, Manu and so on.

    Disrespectful saying Rafa isnt good enough for the premier league. His time at Everton was admittedly pretty bad, but at the time the club was badly run, in fact, it still is, regardless of the half decent run they're on. I'm a little bit biased when it comes to Rafa, being a nufc fan, but hes clearly a good manager, and has won everything there is in the game, but talksport, basically the exact same pundits who said Steve Bruce is a good premier league manager, claim hes not good enough. I think the players need more criticism for how they "played" during Rafa's tenure. From the Watford collapse onwards, they knew that even if they put in no effort at all, the fans would still blame Rafa because of his status as a former Liverpool manager, so that's what they did.
    They're playing better now under Lampard, because they worked out, after a few of the same-old performances they put in under Rafa, that the fans would blame them instead, since they think that, despite what little he's achieved as a manager, that Lampard is a better manager for some reason.

    • @zackreynolds7590
      @zackreynolds7590 Před rokem

      Maybe, but I think the players had enough motivation to not be the ones to send such a big club down to the championship. And I’m sure it’s not that the fans thought Lampard was “better” (although now they might with the way they’re playing) but they knew it would be a difficult task for any manager to right the ship that Rafa led them on. The players realized how dire the situation actually was and knew they had to step up or no longer play in the premier league.

    Not sure they’re giving Rafa enough credit here. I’m not gonna say he’s not flawed. He definitely pushes the owners too far at times and he doesn’t play the “easy on the eyes” game. But he’s had trophies in Spain and England and not for the clubs with the most financial resources. There’s something to be said for that. He didn’t have a good run for Everton, but he was following up on Ancelotti. That’s a tough act to follow.

    Bullshit Rafa. You got rid of Rodriguez and digne who did so much for the club (especially the latter). You then brought in rondon and El Ghazi who simply aren’t
    Premier league quality. Decisions on the pitch were awful also; just sit back and let them attack whilst trying not to concede.
    You shouldn’t have accepted the offer in the first place. Not wanted by fans anyway. He is past his premier league days anyway and will get found out at the next job.

    Rafa is politician as well as a manager,I don’t believe football has by passed him, right now one style of football is in vogue, but you can play any way you want as long as you have the personal to achieve it, you get players to fit a system, no system works without players to utilise that way of playing, so yes a great manager, great tactician but also political, which gives chairman’s a huge headache.

    He says he couldn't make decisions that's 100% a lie he made more crazy decisions than any Everton manager I've seen in 45 years. His first action was to tell our best player on his first day he's not in his plans and he can leave cause he won't be playing then James Rodriguez was gone just like that. Then he fell out with Luca Digne and sold him to Villa and got sacked a week later because we lost 9 in 13 games. Absolutely the biggest ego around and it interferes with his decisions the guy is a dinosaur and is finished as a manager horrible football wherever he goes just like big Sam but at least Sam is honest and says it like it is, doesn't spread bs lies like this loon is doing now. Go retire Rafa you gotta have 30- 40 mill in the bank at least . That big ego won't let him retire that's why he wants to try and prove a point.
