- Hello,
This is my epic journey through the classic old Minecraft modpack called Gregtech: New Horizons aka GTNH
But instead of playing it in a normal world, I'm playing it in a void world starting out with nothing...
Yup!
Literally, NOTHING!!!
The challenge is called "Garden of Grind"
I'm playing and recording this through the Prism Minecraft modpack Launcher.
*here's a link to the .pdf if you're crazy enough to give this challenge a go for yourself(updated!);

Thanks for watching me suffer lols!
🤣

Please dont stop making these! You are very talented at captivating the viewer and I love the lack of rediculous, blarring music that people keep adding to their minecraft videos, its genuinely relaxing and contemplative to watch. Great stuff man, love it!
Legend!
Thanks for the lovely comment
:)
damn having binge all of the episodes ngl i kinda like how you have played this in a more vanilla-like manner and not rushing the quests, keep up the work man
Thanks a bunch!
;)
The "breaking out" event at 30:00 happened because of a Confusion Creeper explosion, it causes all entities hit to teleport a short distance randomly (including yourself). In the doc at the bottom of the "Garden of Grind Early Game" section there is a link to another 9 page doc detailing our mob farm research and the repair mechanisms we had to do (we were unable to find a farm that goes completely without repairs).
Yea I soon figured this out after as it might of happened more than once haha.
Thanks for explaining though, appreciate that
I don't know why I found "I got this thing here called a knife" so funny
One of my new favourite gtnh series ! Love the videos.
You might want to take a look at wooden spikes for the farm. They hurt mobs but leave them at 1 hp.
I don’t believe I can quite craft them yet as I need a macerator setup up and running…
Thanks for the suggestion and support!
:)
A filing cabinet is very useful for keeping seeds in during early game. Also yes, hemp is a SUPER useful crop!
also lol
- name tags could be useful for keeping track of your villagers.
- stonelily in ic2 crops gives you stone dust which can be compressed for cobble
- schematica is great for copying over structures from creative copies/testworlds
Thanks for the tips!
I’ll definitely be using some of these, cheers!
;)
@@gardenofgrindHell yeah, I'm glad all the little tidbits I've got remembered from my own GTNH grind can help!
If you kill passive mobs with a knife, they don't explode :)
Ohh yes, you’re right!
I completely forgot, thanks!
;)
Love this series! I haven't gotten invested in a minecraft lets play like this in ages :)
Awesome!
First!
Lol JK, neat that I caught an upload so quick, I've been waiting ever since watching all your other videos back to back. Thanks for continuing on this absolute grind, and showing us your progress!
Congrats haha!
Thanks for the support
I love your creativity in this pack! Using "place block" for blast protection as well as enticing mobs to continue walking!
The mobfarm is amazing, I would love a schematic or world download of it.
Just discovered this insane GTNH series today. I've watched all of the vids and you have definitely earned your "like & subscribe" from me. I'll just add one thing and that is it's botania that makes certain mobs shed their related items. I can't remember all of them but along with the villagers dropping emeralds you should also get spiders dropping string and chickens should drop feathers.
Thanks for the support and also for the botania tips, I’ve seen the emeralds and feathers but I wasn’t aware that spiders dropped string.
Thanks again
;)
Gotta say, the amount of work done you've put into innovating that mob grinder is just insane and I gotta say the thumbnail does not do it justice. I've been watching through these episodes very slowly and it's always nice to pop in and chill with your gameplay. Keep on going man, glad to see there's more for me to see in the future
Just binged all the episodes! I love this!!! I’m currently in HV so I’ll try to answer any questions I can.
With crops you’ll really want to breed sugarcanes together to work towards stick reed. Sooner you start the easier you’ll find the electricity stage!
Thanks and welcome to the GRIND!
You’re just as crazy as me I guess…
:P
This is a great series I will continue watching and recommending it to friends. You have more than earned my support
Awesome series so far. Just a heads up, all chisel blocks prevent mob spawns, including chiseled wood planks or cobblestone
Gregified greetings from Germany! I just binge watched all you episodes! keep up the grind, lovin it!
Hey!
Thanks for the support
:)
Here is a nice trick to get in and out of those fenced in animal areas. I am sure you know the trick with the carpet.
But you can also place any block between the fenceposts and place another post on top of that block.
The hitbox of the fencepost is small enough for you to jump on the block and get in/out.
The mobs will see the fence post as a full block so they will not jump up on the block below.
Easy hobo-fencegate without having to worry about animals going out with you
I was wondering what happened to your main channel and why you haven't posted in awhile, then I found this and I've been binge watching it. Great series, keep up the great work!
You’ll also see the other reason why I haven’t posted in a while soon…
Thanks for the support
I really want to see more of this
Keep da hemp growin! ☘️🤞
Aye!
32:51 water will break cobwebs lol
Since the item placing and the head blocks cause a lot of lag wouldn't it be best to use trap doors even if they are expensive? I know more then 50 head blocks in vanilla can cause your fps to drop from 120 to 30 instantly just by being in a loaded chunk, so much data stored in them for no reason.
You should make a bone cleaver or something with sweeping edge to kill them faster. Also dont go for the seared tank for exp. Its really small and is meant for lava for the forges. Finally, what trades does that blond villager have?
The blond/blue coat tinkerer villagers are pretty much the same, the both want gold ingots for emeralds(useless)
The seared tank is by far the easiest to get me started, then after that I’ll definitely upgrade it don’t worry.
As for the cleaver, I need a tool forge to craft those bigger better weapons, which I don’t have access to atm
You really need a better weapon! Probably use a sword made of throium
Also keep up the quality content!
You’ll see soon haha
what is your endgoal with these series?
Since the modpack is extensive (I guess) will you 100% the modpack? or where will you get to?
My main goal is to see how far I can go, not only just playing it… also in the creator side of things.
I wanted to share my experience to encourage me to play, push me if you like… but to also give GoG some exposure as it’s super fun and genuinely a well thought out challenge concept.
But as of now, I’m genuinely hooked!
I love challenges, grind and limitations.
Currently it isn’t possible to 100% the pack on this challenge from what I’ve read, but it might be with future updates.
Hope that somewhat answers your question.
:)
@@gardenofgrind oh thank you, if that's the case then I'd love to watch the series knowing there is a lot of content to come
You have a lot of villagers. Consider making iron golem farm. You don't have lava or spikes, but maybe they will die from entity cramming if you send golems in a tight space. This might solve problems with iron for good
entity cramming isnt in 1.7
@@blockygamez9389 welcome to GTNH
Your voice reminds me of stampy haha
I'm not sure if you can make a chisel but chiseled blocks cannot spawn mobs.....also is there any way for you to get garden's
I’m not 100%sure I can get them without using the quests sadly…
Further research is required.
:P
Ah yes thorium from the villager
Part 7 when?
can't help but think why you haven't made the mob farm as an usual vanilla mob farm that dispenses water from the middle and which covers the entire platform and then you drop the mobs to the bottom to another funnel that would be like the one you first used to collect baby villagers and then drop them into the 3x3 instead of you having to be in the 3x3. Just a thought.
I don't think it is possibile to build water dispenser farm on 1.7.10, because there was no obserwers and designs without them would be a lot bigger and require a lot of redstone.
The reason I’ve gone for my “cross” design is because of GTNH water mechanics, unfortunately the water flows in a cross pattern when dispensed from a dispenser.
This is either a 1.7.10 thing or the pack, i should’ve explained it better, oof!
In the future when I have better resources at my disposal(that could be awhile lols) I’ll definitely improve my farm, adding spikes, fans, collection systems and what not.
But primarily the main focus is safety with this design haha
I meant just the one layer, not the handful or so layers that are in usual farms of that type.@@michaskiba5628
I built it in a vanilla 1.7.10 instance and the water spread as it should, and I have no reason to think any mods would break that behavior so most likely you just built the platform wrong.@@gardenofgrind
WHy not funnel the Mobs into a single "lane"? With this you have to turn around all the time.
I've watched all previous videos, I hope you'll last till the end ❤
You could be in a for a long one haha
with all the villager would it be wise to do an iron farm ?
vanila one
Hey... Seee... Explosions! And nothing happened😂
Definitely
you know you can make sandwich sandwiches
Yes, with just bread
thaumium is diffrent to thorium lol
