- Hello,
This is my epic journey through the classic old Minecraft modpack called Gregtech: New Horizons aka GTNH
But instead of playing it in a normal world, I'm playing it in a void world starting out with nothing...
Yup!
Literally, NOTHING!!!
The challenge is called "Garden of Grind"
I'm playing and recording this through the Prism Minecraft modpack Launcher.
*here's a link to the .pdf if you're crazy enough to give this challenge a go for yourself(updated!);

Thanks for watching me suffer lols!
🤣
#gregtech #skyblock #oldminecraft - Hry
Bro just uploaded the second I finished the other episode. What a way to keep my binge going!
Your timing is impeccable!
:D
So the milk and yogurt making milk thing is because the bacteria used for making yogurt was originally found inside the cows stomach same with cheese
Ahh ok, makes sense.
Sounds disgusting
@@gardenofgrind most food stuff sounds disgusting really
it's a wonder how anyone figured out any kind of fermentation
Note on villagers:
How restocking works:
In 1.7.10 how restocking works is everytime you trade (even if it is only once) with the right most trade, the villager will produce regeneration and restock all trades. So idealy have a Certus Quartz trade as the final trade and one of the other trades in the same villager buying it.
How unlocking new trades work:
When trading wth the right most trade, the villager will attempt to make a new trade that they don't already have. If the villager does roll the same type of trade they will change the prices on that rolled trade. This could be an issue with enchanted books as if the villager rolls another enchanted book trade, it could change the enchantment.
Hopefully this clears up some things

Legend!
Thanks for that information, helps!
;)
I just finished binge watching the earlier episodes. So happy i found this series, you have a way of expressing yourself in such a joyfull way, its really funny to watch, and even learn alongside you.
Wow, thank you!
Just finished binging the series so far. You've got something great on your hands. Can't wait for more!
Awesome, thank you!
:)
Just binge watcheed the entire series, you remind me alot of stampylonghead, and i feel very happy
So, star gate when?
officially the best gregtech series
btw lava can generated the following: Apiarist villagers sell random combs for two wheat. Get one that sells simmering combs, centrifuge it to get phosphor, which can be squeezed (together with dirt) into lava (taken from the doc)
I am going thru your whole channel watching all this, in my mind GTNH is already a crazy long challenge now imagine like this
I think you should upgrade your crops. As you know, they have stats, and as far as I remember best stats are 31 20(?) and 1 Being: Gain Growth Resistance. So, good luck! There is a lot of docs about IC2 crops, I am not a pro in it ))
wonderful series, just binged all of it
I am BEGGING you to separate the good villagers from the rest so you don't have to search for them
It’s on my list of things to do…
But it’s not gonna be a fun one haha!
:p
i think putting mobs on top of the xp drain will damage the mob and produce xp so you could put the drain in your mob farm to get easy xp
Seriously..?!
*testing required
I wanted to ask you "Hey Dan, why don't you JUST make an item collector and put it on a chest in the middle of the villager are??"
then I looked into the recipe for an item collector 😀So...never mind... I think I know the answer...
For quests, it only detects that you've got a required item if you've got all of it in your inventory. Bit of a pain.
Yea I figured that, I seem to recall when I found a crafting table on my regular survival playthough in a village it didn’t detect either, I guess the devs designed it this way haha
Using carcasses of animals is the old way of making yoghurt so it actually makes perfect sense
No it isn't. Yoghurt has always been made using animal milk and some bacteria.
can't you use the block that makes all villager trades into a single block? that would be pretty convenient when you get thousands of villagers
i don't remember how it's called ("trading station" or something like that?) but i do remember it exists in gtnh
It does, but it is a bit buggy above a certain amount of villagers and not as convenient as it sounds, imo locking the villagers in place and trading directly is easier than using that thing.
(Not to mention that it rn is off gated way in the future as it requires an emerald plate if I remember correctly)
Hell yeah more of this! So fun to watch
Amazing series, can't wait for more
why don' you just make an iron golem farm? Yes, the doors are annoying to build, but once you have them your ironsituation is solved (for the early game).
Im gonna sound like a broken record but I love the series keep it going man
Since you have glowstone and redstone dust now, are you able to make Redstone Lamps? Would make turning off the mob farm much easier if you can just flick a switch.
I'm not sure if anyone has said anything about it or if you haven't thought about it but in 1.7.10 it is pretty easy to make an iron golem farm
Yes it is but at the rate of on average a golem every 6mins isn’t at all worth it though…
Loving the series, you should make a sword so that you can put looting on it
So that’s what XP does! Neat!
Indeed
Maybe you know, maybe not
But if you put the villagers
Tinkers construct, smelter
They will give you Emerald
I’m not sure of that old or new
But try it ❤❤
I knew that but sadly in GTNH that feature has been removed oof!
But thanks!
;)
Im thinking put hallways extending from the three sides of villager store room. Were you keep to professions down each hall, with the villagers in their own stall.
make a sword, then modify it certus quartz (sharpness), with this you can get absurd damage, something like 20-50 (depending on the amount of grind that you are willing to spend on it)
Woah…!
This I did not know, thanks a bunch!
;)
@@gardenofgrind Also, don't ignore the quest book. It is literally the best guide to the modpack you can have.
I love the honesty in your little laughs. I still remember how fake and annoying Ssundee was and I even unsubscribed to Iskall85 a few years ago when he addapted this style. It is just annoying. But your giggles are authentic and honest 🙂
Acording to google doc, white planks actually quite good at blast resistance and ALSO do not burn
U could paint planks using 'paintbrush' and white paint (from bones obviously) to paint it to white color
Note that this thaumcraft wand causes WARP after it's usage.
Vanilla iron farm using door seems a lot more adequate than using 2buckets of xp for it.
There is no good automation for buckets until electricity, but u could use GT tank (For XP, connect using any GT liqud pipe + XP drain) + hopper to put filled buckets into forestry workbench (which remembers recopies) to quickly manually craft, and put empty buckets back (this part manual) (into ULV GT tank) after usage.
Could you please address useful comments in your video, so we know you are looking for them.
Yes I saw that in the magical .pdf lols, the problem is I’ll rather wait till something horrible happens and burns it down before I try out using those painted planks(I just don’t want to manually swap the blocks out)
Good to note about the wand, thanks for that.
I’m going crop stick mad, so a iron farm would be good but…tbh almost pointless when I have those xp berries.
Cheers for the automation tip, definitely gonna come back to this comment.
I’m constantly reading comments, they are very helpful indeed like this one for example.
;)
@@gardenofgrind thx dude. All community starves for greged meme content like this)
Wand adds warp to refill it's aspects, so it's not that dangerous, info about actual prices available at gtnh wiki.
Wooden gt liquis pipes are ok, untill you pass steam or gases through it.
Also, coarced dirt (2 dirt + 2 gravel) allows you to dupe dirt using mattock.
Can't wait for your berry farm design, because they hit you when you stand inside them, and require lighting < 7.
Also, copper and tin oreberry can be harvested before full growth (give 1-2 berries instead of 3-4 with full block underneath).
Also you could improve ic2 crop growth speed by placing 3+dirt blocks under farmland (+3 environment), and placing farm higher (actually bonus is low, and maxed out nearly at Y:130+ to get +2 environment, so don't bother untill you go BIG)
Consider using forge microblocks saw to cut glowstone to smallest pixel so you get 32 "torches" per glowstone block. Microblocks block water.
Thx for content btw)))
Ok maybe he's still reading these :D
I know this is old Minecraft and crazy crafting recipes with the mods, so I'm not sure, but can you grind the xp off all those mob drop armor and weapons you're storing under the mob farm? That would be quite a bit in the end I bet
I am indeed…
Not that I’m aware of, but the grindstone from modern Minecraft would do some serious wonders lol
this looks fun tbh
It is!
Very addictive haha
@@gardenofgrind Once stargate becomes obtainable this pack will get insane
it is obtainable .... after 5000h
@@kekkek7888 Actually no, since the rules forbids you from going to other dimensions, certain materials are impossible. On top of that, the best options for resource production (void miners and multiblock pumps) don't work in a void world, so you'd need a *lot* of crops to get there.
@@mambodog5322 It's superflat, not void world, or I'm missing something?
Bro sounds like mumbo jumbo
You should claim the quest rewards, some of them are really useful
Haven't he telled that he will not gonna claim rewards?
Part 8 when?
If Garden of Grind wouldnt have driven me mad the Sound of all the Villagers would have.
Milk + Leather = Joghurt:
"Back in the old days".... they used to pour milk into leather "bottles" and turned in there into Joghurt.
i think it's pronounced like "olive-een"
Why not try and make an iron farm
I've managed to watch all videos thus far, I find the premise of the series very interesting, yet dumb.
Not grabbing the quest rewards on top of every challenge on top of playing Gregtech is just incredibly petty, you'll reach IV tier in 2050 without all the help you can get.
If he wants to play that way, why dumb? It's a videogame, if he has fun doing it then he can do it and take us along with him :) If you don't like it you can watch other let's plays, there is a guy, forgot his name, who is close to the Stargate with like 500 episodes or watch threefold.
@@andreivarasciuc1627 it isn't dumb, it's idiotic, it's like playing Gregtech without ever using a large chemical reactor "because let's see how far we can make without it".
Nobody will congratulate or pat him in the back for that, since it's a completely pointless challenge.
You can only ignore so many parts of GTNH before it becomes another modpack.
me when someone plays the mod pack differently (I am consumed by uncontrollable rage)
The point is to play the game starting with nothing, man. Claiming rewards from the questbook isn't exactly "nothing".
@@FyreofShadow the modpack could've removed the challenge rewards in order to make the creator look less stupid. But that's just me
I just wanna say I enjoy your commentary so much I wouldn’t mind if you padded the episodes a bit more. They’re so long but they feel like 10 minutes each.
