4:30 "This is probably THE most if not THE most important thing."
Ayy lmao
Well when somebody's going on about 3 hours sleep and they've been up for 27 hours they start stumbling a little bit LOL
Did you just call the trident a pitchfork?
Maybe....
Oh wow until this time I thought it was a pitchfork
Compared to other parts of the game, organising the Navy has so much tedious clicking.
No kidding 😂
once it's set up it pretty much runs itself tho
@Payton Izaiah shut the fuck up
Thanks for 16 minutes of interface explanation
😁
You give us many options in the ways we can get all ships to one base xD
Thank you so much! All the other Naval guides talk about fleet composition and tasks, but You my man actually showed me WHICH BUTTONS TO PRESS to create fleets and task forces in the first place. THANK YOU!
This is exactly what i was looking for, No other tutorial cocers this stuff, thanks
Very, very helpful video Dustin. I was not using a lot of the functions that you outlined here. Also, I've got to get used to clicking on the forces box and then clicking on the map. I usually do it the hard way and shuffle things around off the map. Game changing video for me. :-)
Thanks again.
Glad I was able to help 😊
My head just blew up but thank you for the tips it really helped me out🤯😂🙏👍
Some of the best training in hoi4 I've seen thank you sir
Thank-you for the great tips Dustinl796!
Glad to Help 😁
I was hoping you would cover the whole patrol / strike force concept. how they link, does it require the related forces to be under the same admiral etc, what are good compositions.. also, does strike force work only with a patrol force, or does it work with convoy raiding, convoy escort etc (ie if a convoy raiding force finds ships, will the strike force come out etc)
also, with port strikes, how do you prevent them with air superiority, is it air superiority over the ocean or over the land that is required to defend?
answers appreciated
Thank you, very cool
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Great video as always love watching your guides and tutorials I was wondering if you could possibly do a guide on the new Millenium Dawn update.
Can you play it on 1.7 version of hoi4?
I'm going to be totally honest with you. I think the new update largely ruined the mod from what it used to be and it was so cool. Now there's so much micromanagement involved from money and everything that it seems like nobody is going to want to play it in multiplayer anymore. I like the ideas behind a lot of it and I'm sure a lot of people out there will enjoy it but I'm just not going to be that into it anymore
Since the Mod update that currently is the only way to play it
Thanks for the video. I suck ass at navy, despite it being one of my biggest tenets to build a powerful navy. Any chance of a Colombia guide?
I don't know about a Columbia guide but I will try to come up with a basic guide for just about every South American country to be able to use one day
thanks this made my life easier
I found the navy from the allies to be very underpowered later on. The ai doesn't seem to upgrade nor make better ones. The ship designs also seem pretty weak in terms of historical accuracy. If you make a strike force that has about 5 SHBBs, 10bcs and 15 hcs + 40 lc & 80 DD's you pretty much melt their entire navy that has about 1000+ ships combined with 3 times the capital ships. Ofcourse it takes a while to build this up but it's very much possible by 1942 ish.
I really hope they fix it because i feel like it's easier in MTG to win the naval race then it was before. What are your thoughts on this?
I totally agree on a lot of that. Man the guns did change a lot of stuff and not necessarily for the better. However some of the stuff that was changed does make a lot of sense and it's a lot cooler now
@@dustinl796 Yeah i defo agree that it's a lot cooler and it really got me invested in naval stuff, it's just pretty easy right now and could use some major ai buffs
@@ramdom-yy4wy The ship designs also seem pretty weak in terms of historical accuracy...
That happens because of new rule/decision - London Naval Treaty. Treaty limits heavy ships very tightly. (11000 max production cost for Batlleship is far from enough)
yeah i guess that could be the reason
@Dustinl796 Hey Dustin have you ever thought about making a guide to minors/generic countries? I don't know if they actually get played in multiplayer but guess it would be fun tho.
I'm not going to do minor country-specific guides however one day I might make guides for multiple minor countries at the same time. Like for example South American country tutorial and then do a different one for Brazil
nice video dustin you should try out the video Game EVE it's on steam gave this a video a thumbs up
Actually they did send me a code to try it but I don't really get into those kind of games
@@dustinl796 I thought it would be cool to see you play it but i understand
So with the automatic reinforce... will it reinforce the taskforce with any ship as long as it's the same type, or will it only reinforce with the same exact model of ship that was there before?
How do you get more naval divisions if you have none and when I try to deploy my navy to a port it says non deployable
You mentioned having a video about optimal fleet compositions and ship designs, did you mean your historical design ones? I thought they were for roleplaying mostly. Or is it the "no one knows how this godforsaken system actually works" video?
No it's an actual Fleet composition video. If you go on my channel and type in Fleet compositions you'll find it
@@dustinl796 Found it, thanks. Can't believe I missed it first time even though I specifically looked for it.
😁
How do carriers react when you put them in task force and then put them on strike? I usually have a fleet doing a strike or something and my carrier's just off the coast bombing.
Wherever I've tried it they don't work very well for some reason. That why they're not engage anything even if they're in a large naval battle the sit at port or they just get instantly wrecked in the battle
bruh i'm sitting here at 15th. great video as always!
15th? And thx 😁
@@dustinl796 No one is saying first so I broke the silence
Hello Dustin. 1 Thing still unclear to me How actually torpedoes work? What range it uses and what damage it can do?
All info i got that torpedoes are connected to enemy reliability and tries to do a critical hit.
Pretty much torpedoes have a 50-50 chance of hitting, if they do hit they have between 10 to 20% chance of causing a critical hit and instantly sinking the ship which is why they're so overpowered
What is the default naval tf insignia called (The one that kinda looks like bagpipes)?
I think you’re referring to the Trident? It kinda looks like a fork (it has three prongs)
Dude.... very good video. BUT... it’s not a pitchfork 🤦♂️...it’s a trident 🔱, like Poseidon weapon? 😂 good job anyway
Love this update but i dont have this dlc i bough dark souls 3 insteed
And thankfully the majority of these features are free :-)
i sometimes cant take a mission of one strike group away
When that happens you need to remove all orders which is beside the hold button
@@dustinl796 i saw all guides of yours about naval. but still have here and there issues , especially when i have to adapt or change my fleet missions.
could you show like how the naval war USA vs JApan is played with additional info like "left click here", "right click here" and:
"i made a mistake, gotta remove that and change it to that"
?
would be great
Is good Island tips
Thx 😁
theeeeeighter
the interface of HOi4 is really bad, I'm trying since 10 hours in game to create my fleet, but that never work, ship dont merge in the Task force that I ask, and stuff are not clear.... even with your video (great by the way) I'm unable to do it...
Do tips for minor nations, for example Balkan and South American nations
Honestly in the future I might do something like that
epic
Thx 😁
15:33 wrong! when you assign sea zones in which your fleet to operate you do it for the WHOLE fleet, you can NOT assign specific task forces to specific zones, the different task forces are made so you can choose which ships to do each mission you want them so you specialize them, if you want to have specific ships operate in a specific zone you need to add them to a different fleet
That's odd because it does work for me. In fact I did it yesterday in a multiplayer match and kept rotating U-boats out and back in
@@dustinl796 you can add and remove sea zone for the fleet to operate in while only having selected one of its task forces and that's the reason your are confused about it but these changes apply to the whole fleet and you are changing the operational area for the whole fleet, i was confused about it in the beginning too because no where in the wiki it is explicitly stated but every time it is referenced it is done by the word fleet - meaning you change the operational are for the whole fleet
1.7.0 update ? what are the comments on it?
Haven't gotten any yet
Check new millennium dawn update
To be honest I totally forgot about it coming out today. Soon hopefully I'll be able to do videos on it
@@dustinl796 it's amazing... though a bit confusing. Especially since I don't see any debuffs for having a ruined economy. Please tell me if you see any.
Does the naval bomber spam still work?
Sort of. After man the guns there's organization assigned to ships now. When performing a Naval Strike whatever the organization of the ship is x3 and this is how many planes can join the battle and will actually do damage. So if you send a thousand and there's a bunch of ships in the fleet with decent organization and HP then yes they will be very overpowered but only sending a couple hundred a time you'll mostly only damaged ships and make them turn around and repair
@@dustinl796 From my experience it's ok with players, but still pretty good against AI. It seems like you can spam it against everybody and everything that doesn't have AA. If you have a lot of military factories, but not so many dockyards, (looking at you, Germany) it might be a very good option; But a bad one for the Allies and Japan.
Is updating old BB’s engine worth it
depends how slow it is, and how much it slowers the other ships in your strike force
otherwise no, since it takes way to long
With so many variables in place it's hard to just give a simple yes or no answer. I would say for just a simple engine upgrade if it's not going to take more than a few days it's not a bad idea
Yes. But dont rebuild the ship. Just edit ship type in constructor than do upgrade/refit for existing ships.
how do you have waves in water do you use mod ?!!
No, I just have the graphics set on max
0:06 Really? I think that MTG made it a lot easier to control navy
To be honest I'm quite surprised hearing that. Majority of people I've spoken with think it made it a lot more difficult
@@dustinl796 It may be because I'm relatively new to HoI4 and It was easier for me to switch to the new system, but I think that now it's a lot easier to manage
Oh yea, as someone with 5k hours trust me. As a veteran of the series the new system is much more difficult. The old system would show you things like which ships are actually targeting each other, how much damage they're currently doing in the battle. It was all kinds of different things stat wise that got removed with man the guns
@@dustinl796 oh ok, so that's because I'm new, I didn't even pay attention to things that were there, so now it seems better to me
@@malojstoy i agree with Dustin. Naval warfare became more difficult but also more interesting and flexible.
Although Subs and destroyers has become playable, Before MTG destroyers were just gun meat or shield for Batlleships. Now destroyers can do many things...
Bro, japanese divisions when?
Hopefully soon. I'm just taking a little bit of a break from the templates series for a couple days
All you need is 24 40 width 14-4 infantry divisions to push south and a 24 20 width to hold shanxi. When the front becomes too large just add another 24 20w .No tanks as japan.
That works 😁
:)
theeateher
uhh what?
No idea why you want to make simple things so complicated.
1.VS AI. You just need CL with all CL guns to kill the screens and DD with torpedo. Need skill that can pernitrate the screen.
2. First step controlling a region, just drag 10 1940 DD with mines. Mine the whole sea area. Then use 1000 fighters and 1000 Tactical or Naval bombers.
Anything get inside will die
I have always hated navy in HOI
Thanks from Russia

1. give up to Great Mussolini
This is why I don't play a naval power.
Please promise you'll never stop reading comments
I don't know about promising that I'll respond to every one of them but I can promise I will try to at least read every single comment
@@dustinl796 Reading them is well enough
Man the guns spoiled the game for me
You can revert back if you want by right-clicking Hearts of Iron 4, properties, bettas, and then 1.7 Hydra :-)
What i dont understand is why thay made the navy unnessasary complicated and adds 50 steps "JuZt CuZ wE cOuLd"
