    Barris was so much potential waisted
    Trying to hard to "redeem" her and say she's not that bad of a person and just forget the fact she bombed the temple and framed her friend on top of that
    These are actions that cannot be forgiven with a pat on the back

      This is part of a trend in not just star wars but all of fiction. Female villains, no matter how heinous their crimes, are always treated as misunderstood and frequently given redemption arcs even if it's unearned. If Barris was a male character he'd have received the ending she deserved.

    • @daynial2240
      @daynial2240 Před měsícem +3

      I feel like her entire story is wasted potential. She only appears in two arcs of TCW and is essentially a different character in each. First, she's a loyal padawan and a good friend to Ahsoka who is even willing to sacrifice herself for her cause (twice) and the next time we see her she's a borderline sadistic (if her fight with Anakin is any indication) terrorist who is even willing to frame her best supposed friend for her crimes. And now this.
      The thing is, all the pieces were there. She had many legitimate reasons to be disillusioned with the Jedi, and her sudden anger for Ahsoka could be explained as her being jealous that she has a loving master who goes out of his way to protect her while her own master left her to die (well, not really, but she moved on from her supposed death in Geonosis quite quickly), but what we got instead was quite rushed.
      And then, well, she's back to being altruistic again with no real reflection on her actions outside of throwaway lines. We don't even get to see Vader react to her, nor does Luminara play a part in her development at all (which is especially jarring since we know from Rebels that she was captured and executed by inquisitors)

    • @pbh9195
      @pbh9195 Před měsícem +1

      @@daynial2240 couldn't have said it better myself
      And another idea remember back in rebels we see that holorecording of Lumenara in prison imagine if it was Barris that captured her and it was her face she was looking at in despair before being forced to Walk into that coffin
      It was also implied that Lumenara caused the deaths of the martez sisters when she was pursuing Zero that hut, what if Barris also accompanied Lumenara on that mission and witnessed how dismissive her master was with their lives, that should have been barris's breaking point that turned her dark
      There's a whole story there and it was squandered and I have no idea why
      Ether Filoni is a terrible story teller or Disney was meddling in the production ether wouldn't surprise me

    • @daynial2240
      @daynial2240 Před měsícem +2

      @@pbh9195 Wow, I didn't know it was Luminara who caused the incident with the Martez' parents. That's very interesting.
      And yeah, seeing an interaction between Luminara and Barriss following her fall (especially with Barriss as an inquisitor and Luminara as her prisoner) would've been gold. Would've made for an interesting parallel between Vader and Ahsoka following the purge, especially considering Vader essentially finished what Barriss started by destroying the temple.
      It would've been so great to see Barriss reflect on her trying to do what Anakin actually did to an insane degree, since it was Anakin who brought her to justice in the first place. Heck, her entire perception of justice would've crumbled right there and then; the chancellor is a tyrant, the clones are traitors as far as she knows, and Anakin, the man who gave his all for his padawan time and time again, the man who in my headcannon would've been Barriss' perfect master, became the monster she came close to becoming herself.
      The pieces were all there...

    Barriss should be a villain, to the core, her anger for being trained by Luminara (who we all know represents the worse in the Jedi), watching the caos in the Republic, she should be full on board of becoming an inquisitor and bringing an end to the destruction and troubles caused by the Clone Wars, etc...
    She's not misunderstood, or something like it, she defended her actions in the series, why would she change her mind now? We deserved to see her descending into the dark side and eventually being put down by someone, Ahsoka, Obi Wan, Rex, doesn't matter.

    1st barris episode perfect but cant just have a character who bombed the jedi temple and framed her best friend for it and suddenly turning more to the light without proper development. I mean the youtube what ifs ive watched of Inquisitor Barris having a final showdown with Ahsoka were better and more fitting to her character than just allowing herself to be stabbed to easily.

    Barris was one of the purest jedi padawans ever. She was kind, companioned and wanted to save everyone despite having very sturn and uncaring master. She could even heal people with the Force. That compassion led to the Dark Side. She was so sad from all death in the galaxy caused by clone wars she begun to question Jedi's involment in the killing. She went Dark Side and murdered bunch of people to show the world Jedi are murderers. She wasnt an evil person, she fell to the Dark Side. She deserves a second chance.

    Wholeheartedly disagree with this assessment. I think both segments of tales of the Empire were incredibly beautiful and told succinct stories that did not need to have precise resolutions due to the nature of their anthology storytelling. I think they are some of the greatest bits of animation that Star wars has released and are on par with tales of the Jedi which was such an incredible story, especially the dooku Arc
