The towering authority of Darth Vader, the omnipotent and omnipresent Darth sidious, and the unnerving and truly deadly Darth Maul, are all emblematic of the Sith's enduring influence in the star wars universe, collectively showcasing the complex nature and seductive power of the dark side. However, there is one who stands above the rest in power and deceit. A being so masterful in his ability to fool and mislead that even fans underestimate his true power. This sith holds only one name: Darth Jar Jar.
    . . .
It's been more than nine years since the intriguing theory of Binks potentially being a Sith surfaced. Thus a thorough reevaluation of this idea is long overdue, especially considering the fresh insights revealed in the clone wars and recent comic books. But first, let us reestablish the evidence from the prequels that support this captivating hypothesis.
    Battlefield acumen
Jar Jar Binks, a character introduced in The Phantom Menace, has been widely criticized for his clumsy and bumbling persona.
However, a closer examination of his survival skills in conflict situations reveals a level of competence that starkly contrasts with his seemingly inept behavior.
Indeed, in the heat of battle Jar Jar displays an uncanny ability to survive and even thrive, which at first appears to be the result of sheer luck. During the Battle of Naboo he is seen stumbling into enemy lines, inadvertently causing destruction and chaos among the Trade Federation's droids.
Jar Jar's handling of the Gungan energy balls, or "boomas," during the battle also shows him inadvertently causing significant damage to the droid army. His seemingly random tosses result in the destruction of multiple battle droids and tanks. His interactions which lead to the droid tank's destruction at first appears to be a series of fortunate accidents. However, the efficiency with which these accidents occur hints at possible Force intuition guiding his actions, allowing him to be effective in combat despite his overt clumsiness, contributing significantly to the Gungan army's success.
This level of effectiveness in the frenzy of the battlefield aligns more with the calculated maneuvers of a trained operative than with the fortuitous accidents of a fool. Indeed, anaylsing jar jar during the battle reveals similarities to the ancient chinese combat style of zui guan, most commonly referred to as Drunken boxing and drunken fist. Fitting to its name, this style of martial arts is characterised by imitations of movements befitting those of the intoxicated. This kung fo style is renowned for incorporating a range of advanced combat techniques such as hitting, grappling, locking, dodging, feinting, ground and aerial fighting, and other sophisticated methods. Strikes and grabs are seamlessly combined, with hands alternately striking on extension and grabbing on retraction. Power for grabs is generated through techniques such as dropping the body, lifting the feet slightly off the ground, and stomping down with the weight of the entire body, or by falling to a prone position. These methods are seen throughout bink’s role in the battle of noobo.
Moreover, deception is a key focus of zui guan, with continuous bobbing and weaving, feigned instability, attacks from unusual angles, sudden changes of momentum, and the use of blind-spots and visual distractions. The style also involves changing game plans mid-fight and utilizing concealed or improvised weapons, perhaps a releveant point to jar jars use of the booma energy balls.
Vitally, these moments of survival and supposed accidental heroism are too consistent and impactful to be merely coincidental. Proponents suggest that Jar Jar is using a sophisticated form of deception, a common tactic among the Sith, to conceal his true capabilities. This deception extends to his physical agility. Indeed, jar jar demonstrates remarkable acrobatic skills, including high jumps and swift movements.
This was seen early in "The Phantom Menace" when Jar Jar encounters Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the swamps of Naboo. Despite his apparent clumsiness, he is able to leap incredible distances, a maneuver reminiscent of Force-enhanced jumps commonly used by Jedi. This ability was further demonstrated in what is referred to as the bridge scene, when Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenob and darth jar jar intervene to save queen padme. Let us look at the full scene now: . . . .

Theory: He's actually Plagueis, who is rumored to have been alive during the first movie. Jar jar finds an apprentice from the same planet (Palp) and together they create Anakin. He then goes on the trip to Naboo to personally oversee the mission. There he influences critical events like the bet with Watto to make sure Anakin is extracted properly. In this movie I think he's supposed to be the Phantom Menace. The question at the end asking if Maul was the master or apprentice (while focusing camera on Palp) is a bit of a red herring since there's actually three of them.
I like to think DJJ was supposed to have been revealed in Aotc after giving emergency powers to Palp, but was replaced by Dooku (some argue his spaceship even resembles a Gungan). The full reveal at the end of the movie with him igniting a red light saber would have been epic.
The rest of the story could have been the same with Palp ultimately betraying him in Rots by ordering Anakin to strike. He'd lose the duel on purpose thinking Palp would follow the script. While the betrayal doesn't happen in his sleep in this version I'd find it just as "ironic" for him to be killed by his own creation. When Palp later tries to put Anakin in a similar situation in Rotj ("hold back so we can lure him over") Luke chooses to break the cycle by sparing his life. Palp ends up meeting the same fate as his master by a surprise attack by their creation.

I'm convinced of the theory that Lucas originally intended Jar Jar to be a twist Sith lord, revealed as such in the climax of the second film and defeated at some point during the third film. However, the overpowering hatred of the character expressed by much of the moviegoing public, which Lucas had not anticipated, led to his drastically reducing Jar Jar's role and creating the character of Count Dooku to fill the role instead. In a way, this is similar to a quirky 1980s sci-fi stage musical called "The Starmites", which featured its main villain masquerading as a goofy, harmless alien character who accompanies the protagonists as a companion and a "mascot" of sorts, all the while manipulating them into getting him close to a powerful weapon so he can seize it and wield its power.

"However, the overpowering hatred of the character expressed by much of the moviegoing public, which Lucas had not anticipated, led to his drastically reducing Jar Jar's role".
This is a similar problem for the likes of say, FNaF security breach, where when Game Theory predicted how Security Breach would go, Steel Wool studios tried to remake the story and gameplay to avoid confirming the theories... Or rather, the accidentally predicted story.
The end result was an unfinished Game as Steel Wool had to be strongarmed into releasing the game by Playstation and Sony, else they would miss their opportunity for a Summer release.
In the case of Darth Jar Jar, part of the major reason was fan backlash... But the other half was also because Lucas decided to make Star Wars "Kid Friendly" to make up for the backlash... Which resulted in absurd scripts such as "Jar-Jar's Big adventure"...
...Yes, it was real, and yes, it was scrapped.

I had thought Jar Jar being Snoke would have been a good way to work in the sort of message Disney seems enamored with lately while still being cool. I can't quite get the line right but I picture a dead Snoke shown to be a robot or something followed by a familiar accent coming out. Rey expresses some skepticism about what a Gungan is doing there, and he starts to rant, initially in his accent but gradually becoming firmer and more sinister, about how no one, not Jedi, not Sith, ever really did anything for the Gungan. Even Anakin forgot about them, and Palpatine forgot all his fine promised when he got into power. But now, he's in charge, and the galaxy will tremble.

If you look the in background of the fight scenes none of the other gungans are moving like him at all. They move like a normal person. They seem like they can jump fairly high but nothing like the high dive he does into the water from a standing position (force jump). But what really cinches it for me is that the battle on the surface of the planet mirrors the dogfight that Anakin is in which from a certain point of view looks like two characters living on blind luck but it also can be seen as two force users showing what the force can really do when you are tapped into it.

To be fair. If those after him had followed Bane’s rules, the Sith would be even stronger. But passing down the mantle of Sith Master was never to be taken through underhanded means. It was meant to be earned to 1v1 combat as a testament of one’s strength in the dark side. That’s not even addressing the sith that destroyed dark side knowledge, costing the order power.

    • @Ben-zr4ho

Yeah but Barth Bane's Rule of Two was in direct response to the "Brotherhood of the Sith" which was promoted as an almost quasi socialist organization and a way for Sith to share power once they had acquired it. Which is VERY not Sith. So one master to have power and one apprentice to covet that power, learn, and eventually challenge that master and either become the new master or die... Much more Sith.
Plus it was practical. All the Sith were dead except Bane. There was a whole Jedi army out there. He just came upon a highly force sensitive and angry young girl, a natural apprentice to help him and carry on Sith traditions in the event of his death. (Because he was THE last Sith, if he dies now what?) He had already become disillusioned with The Brotherhood before all the Sith but him were killed (or had their consciousnesses forever trapped in a Force Bomb, whatever) but the Rule of Two thing was just as much a natural development as a result of his situation than a dedicated creed...

The most interesting take on JarJar Sith imo is when his personality or fighting style isn't changing after reveal, and he is actually that goofy light-hearted individual, but with great power, planning, and valiant mission of bringing a balance to the Force by expanding the Dark Side.
Imagine him charging his opponents with goofy battle cry, then "accidentally" losing the grip on his saber and, while awkwardly jiggling it in the air and "trying to catch it" cutting every Jedi around him into pieces in what looks like a sudden barrage of uncannily unpredictable strikes. Or when he dodges a force wave by sneezing, or thumbing. And while the enemies can not lay a single strike on him, alrady fully aware of the Jar Jar' style, only unable to counter it because you *can not predict his movement,* Jar Jar is constantly saying that he don't want to hurt anyone, still thinks of Jedi as friends and just wants the Force to come into balance, by any means.

Lucas' plan was to have an innocent & good character (Jar Jar) hang around with the Sith (Palpatine) and be corrupted proving how corrupting their influence is.
    Ep1: Jar Jar is good.
Ep2: Jar Jar gives Palpatine emergency powers which leads to him becoming Emperor. He has been influenced, tricked, and thus did evil although not intentionally.
Ep3: Jar Jar was to state that he was perfectly fine with what Palpatine was doing, and that he didn't regret how things turned out, i.e., he was thoroughly corrupted and turned evil. His path would mimic most people in govt--they may go there with good intentions, but the power corrupts them so that everyone in it becomes a part of the web of rot.
When Lucas said "Jar Jar is the key to everything," this was the big story arc he was talking about. If Jar Jar could be depicted correctly, then it would set the stage for his fall. Thus, Anakin and the whole Republic had no chance except to fall as well because if even the most innocent of them all, Jar Jar, was not immune, then no one is. This is echoed by the "This is how democracy falls--with thunderous applause" scene. The corrosive influence of the Sith did the exact same thing to the majority of the Senate. They may have gone there with good intent, but they instead were turned evil.
Lucas wanted the audience to know that no one was safe from turning evil and in effect, question themselves, "Would I turn evil, too?"

afterwards, when they do land on tatooine, qui gon didn't want the queens double (padme) to go with them, but jarjar is behind her and the body guard mouthing word for word what the guard says when talking about the Queen wishing to see the local area ect.
then at the market it's jarjar who makes a commotion with subulba to get Anakin to take notice, only then does jarjar wave his hand to calm subulbas temper.
this video didn't really do a good job going over all the evidence for the theory as there's a lot more but that's explaining what you were replying to

Okay I know you've already made a short of this on your main channel and mentioned it in passing elsewhere but man, I would LOVE to see a proper longform video dedicated to The Sickness (Blackwing), not just going over its appearance in Death Troopers/Red Harvest but a full on theory video going over all the disturbing implications of the virus and overall speculating on its nature. Personally, it's always baffled me how little it's been covered considering how utterly terrifying a force-sensitive disease really is.

Jar Jar also slyly mentioned the Gungan army to Padme in Phantom Menace, and suggested that the Gungan’s warrior nature is “why you no liking us, mesa thinks.”
That casual mention was the inspiration Padme needed to go fight back against the Trade Federation on her own, which eventually united Gungan and Naboo and led to the defeat of the Trade Federation.
    Coincidence?! I THINK NOT!!!!!
Also… Sith have orange eyes. Jar Jar has orange eyes from the beginning.

Long being convinced of this. All the mouthing of lines and subtle hand gestures while others are talking that lead to furtherance of Sith goals. The balcony drop with the droid shooting at where he was and its head following his trajectory implies a great jump from a strange angle. When he, Obi-wan and Qui-Gon first enter the water he does a huge 20ft spinning leap/dive into the water - in this universe only force users are seen to be able to do this sort of acrobatics coupled with how he has a plodding walk and is extremely clumsy(!). His eyes are already Sith yellow. As noted in these comments; when the three of them enter the Gungan hidden city; it's Jar Jar who they freak about - not the two outsider aliens. When making their escape with the princess, he waves his hand at Padmes bodyguard who allows him to cut in front of him directly behind Padme - a bodyguard letting a unknown member of a race that they have constant conflict with ahead of him within reach of his charge just wouldn't happen. It is Jar Jar who creates the moment to interact with Anakin again by eating the lizard thing (using the living force when it senses it right to?) It's suggested in the novel that in the craft leaving the Gungan city that Qui-Gon "over dose it" when trying to calm Jar Jar; when he was only playing possum so he could concentrate bringing in a bigger fish to eat the one troubling them and their craft. Doing his hand waving to get promoted by the big fat Boss Gungan while verbally dismissing it. When "something goes wrong with the hyperdrive" upon their escape; we don't know or see what he did - only see him pulling back from it - but R2D2 did - that's why it zapped him, this in a roundabout way led to them finding Anakin. Quite a few other things also. I feel he was to be the Darkside equivalent to Yoda who was as in tune to the living force as Yoda is to the light and Sidious is to the Dark. I picture that fight between Yoda and Dooku and try to place Jar Jar in Dooku's place but with Jar Jar flipping around as much as Yoda. Would be sweet. Also the name Darth Tyranus is reptilian and suits Jar Jar better that Dooku; a quick swap of characters to suit a fickle George Lucas. Actually, if you take all of Dooku's lines and interactions (particularly with Obi-Wan) and mentally swap in Jar Jar, it suits it like a hand in a glove.

They really should have revealed JarJar as Snoke.
Besides solidifying the "Darth JarJar" theory, it would have made him the perfect antithesis to Yoda.
    Yoda was...
Short, well respected, kept the odd speech pattern from his youth, and pretended to be something he's not then quickly had the truth of his nature revealed in his introduction.
JarJar as Snoke would have been...
Tall, looked down upon by all around him, altered his speech pattern in his new persona (Snoke), and not been truly known by the other characters or the audience until the very end.

      @AustynSN Před 2 měsíci +3

Just realized after posting this, another argument for the two being counterparts is this....
BOTH would have been introduced as "comic relief". However, Yoda's reasons for being ridiculous were been to test Luke and see how impetuous/impatient he was. Overall, it was to improve him by teaching him patience and wisdom because he thought he had potential. Had JarJar been revealed as a Sith or other type of dark side user, then his introductory foolishness was not to help and improve those around him, but to confuse and distract them because he (would have) thought they were idiots who would never see his true self.

Something to consider is that Jar Jar we see on screen is a 100% computer generated character. Every movement he makes, every blink, every twitch of his lips was planned and animated. When they first land on Tatooine when the Naboo head of security is telling Qui Gon that the queen wants her hand maid Padme (i.e. the actual queen) to accompany him into the town, just over his shoulder we see Jar Jar apparently mouthing the same words. With a human actor you could maybe write that off as just the actor’s interpretation of what the character would be doing, or maybe dislodging some bit of food that got caught between their teeth or gum and lip. That doesn’t work for an animated character.

My plan was to have Jar Jar sell out the Republic and motion for Palpatine to take power in order to be given Force powers from this scheme. My thought was that Lucas introduced shape-changers into the story with the idea that Jar Jar was not, in fact, a gungan. Originally I thought he might be Darth Plagus, having survived Palpatine's attack on him, now manipulating his former apprentice. Hiding on Naboo so he can keep watch.
Now I think the rule of two works better. Jar Jar is outside of it, but a Sith who wishes power. Using cunning to twist the plans of the Emperor. Let Palpatine take the hits, face the Jedi, and have the apprentice he can never fully trust.
