LOve this. I use all kinds of art mediums on the cheap for texturing- joint compound, epoxy, wood filler paste, caulking paste, mica powder mixed into acrylic paint, or i thicken acrylic paint with calcium carbonate, makes a very gritty texture. I've also used stucco patch for raised stencils in my home than painted over with mica paints or gold leaf- makes a very nice shape when dry and very smooth.

@SuperSvilar Gesso and Joint compound are two different mediums (that is, if you want to call the compound as a medium). Joint compound is commonly found in construction/home improvement projects. Its purpose is to fill in the gaps of the wall when two pieces of sheet rock/drywall/plasterboard/etc. are put together. For example, drywall put together will create a gap in the corner that needs covered with the compound.
Joint compound is found at handyman stores such as Lowes, etc.. It can be used on canvas - any surface really. I love how she put on different colors and wiped it off in certain places.

As for Gesso, it is to prepare and cover a canvas and smooth it out before painting (and probably for other surfaces that I have not tried). Hope that helps! :)
I personally think it would look best using warm colours or cool colours separately if ur doing this, just my opinion but yours looks awesome too I love it :D
u epically, epic person u! this was hugely awesome! i carry a journal with me all the time and all i did with it was paint the cover white. it looks ugly right now. LOL. i was thinking of painting it black, but this really opens more doors. LOL.
