    LOve this. I use all kinds of art mediums on the cheap for texturing- joint compound, epoxy, wood filler paste, caulking paste, mica powder mixed into acrylic paint, or i thicken acrylic paint with calcium carbonate, makes a very gritty texture. I've also used stucco patch for raised stencils in my home than painted over with mica paints or gold leaf- makes a very nice shape when dry and very smooth.

    Very timely! I was jointing some walls yesterday and wondered about using the joint compound on a canvas project. Can't wait to give it a go! Thanks for the vid.

    @SuperSvilar
    Gesso and Joint compound are two different mediums (that is, if you want to call the compound as a medium). Joint compound is commonly found in construction/home improvement projects. Its purpose is to fill in the gaps of the wall when two pieces of sheet rock/drywall/plasterboard/etc. are put together. For example, drywall put together will create a gap in the corner that needs covered with the compound.

    Joint compound is found at handyman stores such as Lowes, etc.. It can be used on canvas - any surface really. I love how she put on different colors and wiped it off in certain places.

    @starveil101 @starveil101 I found a site that names the product in different countries: " 'Drywall joint compound' in the United States, 'Drywall filler' in Canada, 'Joint filler' in the UK, 'Fugenmasse' in Germany, 'Joint finish' in Australia.
    As for Gesso, it is to prepare and cover a canvas and smooth it out before painting (and probably for other surfaces that I have not tried). Hope that helps! :)
