Actually having watched this for a while, what happens is that because PlayStation is so popular, the only videos that get hits are anti Sony or anti PlayStaiton hits. Alex only makes anti PlayStation videos because that is what get the hits. You gotta go where the market is and right now, what matters to people is PlayStaiton. The PS5 Pro was never mentioned ONCE in any of the Insomniac leaks. The fact that Insomniac themselves apparently have no info on this juggernaut system that's allegedly happening makes me think the Pro's not coming as soon as people think.
The Pro is supposed to handle frames, ray tracing and resolution automatically. Devs just make the game on PS5.

@@One21P Games still have to be optimized for said hardware in order to take full advantage of it. It's the same reason why many PS4 and Xbox One games had to get patches to support the full features of the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

My point was that the Insomniac leaks that dropped months prior, revealing several games they had in the works for years down the line, make no mention of a Pro model or any plans to release/optimize future games for said Pro hardware. Insomniac is one of Sony's most important companies right now, and the idea that they've got nothing mentioned or planned for this hardware in any of their future releases or presented documents doesn't give me hope that this is as cut and dry as people are making it out to be.

Probably because I have never played on a juggernaut PC that will ALWAYS crush consoles...So I don't know what I'm missing. But 30FPS doesn't bug me. For me, my Xbox does what I need it to do, play some games, watch CZcams yadda yadda yadda... I'd love to have a bad ass PC.. But overall, I prefer the simplicity of a console. Plug it in, turn it on and away ya go.

I have played with a higher FPS on PC, but I have no issues jumping back on my Xbox 360 or PS1 and playing games, as long as the game play is smooth then I don't really notice it, not like the people, who sounds like they would die if they where to experience 30 FPS game play

I have a Series X and a PC, and you know what? I could not give 2 fucks it's 30fps on console. I may still play it there. It's a slow paced narrative game. It's not Doom Eternal. The visuals are insane.

I have both as well and right now I care enough about keeping my PCs current so the Xboxes aren’t getting as much regular use, but when I’m not interested in doing all that maintenance then Xbox is fine. It’s also easier to take anywhere for example work trips and so on. So I also have a Series S that sits in my luggage at all times.

I don't think that is UE5 fault, it's more that game devs don't have enough time and budget to focus on optimizing performance, they just hope that the inbuilt engine optimizations are good enough.

My pc really spoiled me bro, I can play all of my games at 60 fps or more and i used to be okay with 30 because before i built my current rig i was lucky to even get that (Average FPS on the old rig was about 19 yikes, it was very old and outdated). Now the only time i tolerate 30FPS is on my Steamdeck because it adds the portability factor.
So I played the original HellBlade game and I never noticed a framerate issue, maybe the random stutter of an overcrowded screen of AI enemies, but nothing that hasn’t always existed in videogames. 🤷🏾♂️

Alex I’m curious if you been having micro stutters on your 7900xt? I had major thermal problems so I RMA’d card to Asrock and the one sent me had same damn problem with pump out.
I re pasted it and it’s fine for now with hot spot only hitting 75c on full load. Was hitting 110 with a delta of 50c.
That being said I have major micro stutter at times with 5800x3d 32 gigs ram . I also have 4070 super with 5800 x3d and I am not having those problems.
Doubt you see this long winded question but curious if you see or have same issues. Really don’t want to upgrade to 7800x3d yet as I fell 5800x 3D should be fine paired with this card.

Nvidia drivers are awful for leaving components of themselves installed in your OS and disrupting competitor drivers. So you have to always run DDU to wipe out the Nvidia drivers before installing a Radeon card.
In extreme situations even DDU won’t catch everything and you have to reinstall your operating system to fully get rid of the Nvidia drivers, but that’s rare. Ditto sometimes needing to reinstall your games, which I’m closing in on bothering to do with Starfield on my PCs.
Also possible is Windows auto update will sometimes delete your Radeon drivers and replace them with their “own” drivers (which are usually actually legacy AMD drivers that are out of date). Ridiculous, I know.
Also check that both your GPU drivers AND chipset drivers are the most current. AMD chipset drivers need to be kept up to date ALONGSIDE graphics drivers. When they get mismatched there’s increased potential for some games to run suboptimally. This is the most common thing I run into. It’s another reality of MS (and sometimes game devs) not caring enough to ensure their updates compatible with AMD being the distant second and mostly an enthusiast brand instead of the default in most prebuilds. So if you install new Radeon drivers and suddenly your games aren’t running as well, check to see if there’s a chipset update you also need to install. Sometimes a game dev even puts in an optimization that actually hurts your performance and you have to install older drivers, but that’s nothing people don’t already deal with on Intel and/or Nvidia.
Finally also make sure you don’t have to install a more recent BIOS for your MB. This doesn’t come up often, but it’s a possibility. I consider it a second-to-last-ditch resort behind reinstalling my OS.
None of this should be anything we should be FORCED to pay attention to, but the modern reality is Windows is constantly changing their OS, concurrently with game developers optimizing their games, and in all that noise PC enthusiasts need to stay on top of their drivers. That’s still true if you’re on Intel/Nvidia, but those being far and away the market leaders with lots more prebuilt sales MS just does a bit more to keep their OS updates from mucking up hardware from those companies because most prebuilt buyers aren’t any more educated on how to maintain hardware than console buyers. So you DO have to be a bit more diligent and educated with AMD hardware. But once you learn you realize it wasn’t like issues weren’t popping up with Intel/Nvidia either, just when they do people blame the OS and game devs the way they are supposed to and with them usually being 70-80% of the market MS and game devs are forced to eventually fix it themselves…usually.
Anyway a 50C delta between average and hotspot is definitely too large so you did the right thing taking care of that, even if it probably had nothing to do with your current microstutter issue. Sometimes you just get a card that isn’t properly pasted. Most of these AIBs make cards for both companies so it can happen on Nvidia cards too, so it’s always good to know how to do that. By appearances most Nvidia users never investigate enough to learn this though, they just let their cards burn out and buy new ones.

I love it how ponies forgot how remnant 2 ran 30fps on PS5 and Xbox series s. Plus PlayStation has frame rate lock on Final Fantasy 14 while Xbox series has no limit frame rate. Sad part Final Fantasy 14 is 10 years old and with upgraded graphics running better than Remnant 2, Dragon's Dogma 2 and hellblade 2. I think game companies are too lazy to optimize their newer games.
Some of the most popular games are stuck on 30fps and no one complains. 60fps only matters on some types of games for example mmos and competitive mp shooters. But single player games doesn’t really matter if it’s 30 or 60. If it’s an open world then yes playing it in 60fps would feel smoother but 60fps or higher usually makes it unstable and causes the fps to go up and down and not really stuck on the fps it’s supposed to run on.
30 is more tolerable in slower paced games but the point is that we should be at a stage where optimisation and hardware should allow for ,at the very least , a 60 fps performance mode.
The smoothness and responsiveness of 60 fps contributes to visual clarity as well
You also have frame capping, vsync, and variable refresh rate displays that counter the issues you've mentioned.

I literally couldn't care any less about a game running at 30fps. If anyone thinks frames is what makes a game good or bad then you're not really a gamer.
higher frames provide a smoother experience with better input latency and less blurring in motion which means a better gaming experience overall. it also depends on the monitor or tv display being used, as low frames on an oled provide a very poor experience due to almost instantaneous response times. many games provide quality modes and performances modes with higher fps, so when a game doesn’t offer the same, ppl will complain. frame rate does matter up to a certain point. 15 fps would not be considered playable. that is why ppl can play on pc and tweak the settings to get better performance and higher fps at the expense of lower visual fidelity.

With my Deck and being able to share with a PC I'd like to be able to get back into PC gaming, but I'm not sitting at a desk with a small monitor with a giant epilepsy inducing PC box to do it. Time for a line of Steam Machines to make a comeback - something running in Big Picture mode and wakes up with my controller attached to my 65" OLED that I can still swap to desktop mode to install mods, emulation etc. And no Windoze updates.

Thank you for calling out Unreal Engine 5, but I think 4 was just as bad. I remember playing Jedi Fallen Order on Xbox. The frame rates would constantly drop, and the stuttering was through the window. Meanwhile Battlefront 2, on Frostbite, stayed at 60 consistently and ran extremely well.
Maybe it’s the devs’ fault, but I genuinely think JFO would have been better on Frostbite.
It sure was a good idea to put garbo tier pc hardware into the consoles binned for years to make that upgrade path a thing

Its not even a 6700 gpu equivalent. Its worse than that because its a single node that has to share all of its processes together. Both consoles run more like an underclocked 2070ti. Also if anybody expected the consoles to run hellblade on max settings at 60 FPS you were already drunk to begin with. Console users have been gassing up the power of these things so much my PC brethren have started taking light doses of belief.

If you wanna see the actual difference between 60fps and 30fps on this video just swap from 1080p to 480p, barely a difference. There is nothing wrong with 30fps at all, it's a preference and a dumb argument in 2024.
*edit* some games however do require 60fps such as Fighting games and fast paced competitive games.
The only thing that I have to say is that I actually do have friends that do not care about 30 FPS versus 60 FPS. They’re in their 40s, they’ve got kids and they just want a console they can turn on and play a game. As long as it doesn’t drop below 30, they are completely happy.
I have shown them 60 FPS and let them play games using it, and they do enjoy it, but they don’t care that much. Unfortunately, I feel like there’s a lot more of those people out there than you realize and they don’t care that any game is locked 30fps. These guys literally played all of FF7 Rebirth in Graphics mode.

Single player games or non competitive games 30 fps is fine to me as long as it’s consistent. Competitive games, valorant, csgo, rocket league, etc. I use on my pc at 165 fps (monitor cap). Consistent frames are more important to me

I have an Xbox but I don’t go around beating my chest screaming “Xbox is the best”. There’s a few reasons I didn’t stick with ps but I don’t constantly crap on it or their players unless they’re people like in some of these tweets (cuz at that point they’re fair game), I don’t have the $, time, or know how to deal with a pc, and I never know where I’m gonna be for work or in general in my life so I need something a bit more mobile.

I'm mostly on PC but they still need to do better so we don't have a dragon's dogma 2 scenario for us PC users. This game should not be CPU bound at all. Hell, the previous game used like 16-22 % of a ryzen 3600 CPU I'm not talking out my a$$. By the way, I'm not hating on the game itself, I completed the first game like 6 times, I'm confident this one may be great too.

The ps5 would run this game 30fps no problem, theyre practically the exact same technology. One has 12 teraflops, other 10.3. Both with equal amount of ddr6 vram. One has 12% more bandwidth. Its like comparing an rdna2 6700 to a 6700x. Not even xt just x because its really not even a full step up. 10% more compute power in one aspect of the entire system is nothing.

Half the frames is DOUBLE the frame time. otherwise you're doing 30fps@8.33ms, it does not make sense. more fps the less time to draw a frame and viceversa. 🤗
