I don’t really get Alex’s Season Pass and early access argument. Early Access is just another sucker tax based on fomo, but both of these have been happening in single player games for a long long time. Starfield charged for early access and we saw no complaints. Shit even From Software sells a ‘Season Pass’ for Dark Souls 3. And there are so so many more examples. If people only call out the punching bags of the industry like EA and Ubi, and ignore the devs/Ip’s/publishers they like when they do it, it’s kind of meaningless. And I love both the IP’s mentioned above. But I’m not going to sit here and shit on Ubi for it when I bought the Dark Souls 3 Season Pass (all these are are access to every planned dlc/expansion at a discounted price than purchasing individually) and loved it. Lol. It’s hypocritical grandstanding.

I disagree because I believe this should not be a thing in terms of early access, season passes are fine. Early access is just paying more to play a game your not actually sure you'd like.
In terms of his argument, your absolutely right. I think the problem is the stigma with Ubisoft since it's seen as a bad company, so many people just jump on the bandwagon because Ubisoft is a genuinely terrible company. People give passes to from software because they're seen as a good company.
Basically, bias. People have a bigger bias to a other company if it's a good reputation or bad. Also personal opinions play a role in it also.

@@mandrews6282 you need to get you facts straight first about Starfield, Oh we did see complaints and I highly suggest to take a look at the main Reddit of Starfield and all the Steam reviews when it launched and those places on Xbox, most people who bought Starfield got it refunded as it was a total broken mess, no way was it ready despite being delayed, and is still broken to this very day despite patch after patch which just adds more bugs that weren't there, and it can't be fixed, it sold a bunch of AMD GPU's and 1TB Series S consoles, but it was overhyped and Game Pass quality at best.

When the game developer decides they want to stop supporting this game 5 years from now, will they patch it so you don’t need to be online? Or will they just brick the game you paid $70 to $110 for? We don’t know. We’ve seen it go both ways. It’s a crap shoot. That’s another reason we hate single player games that require you to be online. It’s shady.

Star Wars is getting assaulted from every angle. Beloved characters? destroyed and killed off. New entries? Playing off nostalgia so hard they forget to write an actual story. Original content? Given to people with no experience to push contemporary politics set in an ancient futuristic society FAR FAR AWAY. Video games? Jedi Survivor, Battlefront, this trash, Battlefront classic collection, cancelled releases the list goes on.
My heart breaks for big fans of the series and I hope one day management for all the atrocities get weeded out for people that want to do something decent with them.

Iv gone back to playing old games for at least a year now, playing games all the way back to the Amstrad CPC and having more fun with them than 90% of games released today. You can just feel the actual love for making games in some of the old stuff vs the soulless commercialism of AAA games nowadays. Same with movies too, ill avoid anything that looks woke. Been rewatching old classics from the 80's & 90's when films were just better. Take Road House vs the old Road House with Patrick Swayze for instance, its night and day better than the new one.

The crazy thing is that since the pandemic living costs have increased and it's created a recession climate. More people are watching where their dollars are spent. These companies know this, and they're intentionally pushing these nickel-and-diming tactics. This is the most likely time for these companies to be called out for it and they still don't care. No one should be defending this company or game at all. It doesn't matter what lick of paint it has on it. And the whole community manager debacle, being protected by Ubisoft is the cherry on top.

The majority of my gaming life I had slow, unreliable internet in my semi rural area in CA & had to buy discs, otherwise I couldn't download well and they took the entire day or overnight. I had 1mbps for years then bumped avg. 15mbps. We moved recently to a high speed area. I feel for all gamers with slow, unreliable internet.

It's impossible to play MP games. The worst was when you're downloading a game overnight, the connection would break and it never downloaded, so you had to retry again. Even updates took unbearably long. No SPlayer should have to be played online.

They don’t understand about access. Game developers are restricting access to the game we play. And at the end of the day, games like this one will eventually end their servers and the game will not be downloadable.

They did it back then and you expect us to believe its impossible to get a 1:1 looks.
I said this about another game years ago where the disk just contained a piece of code to tell the console you own the game now download it and was told "you're wrong" and "the game is on the disk", well those of you who said that can now STFU.

If your going to buy it, get it second hand instead. Oh... wait, its download only even from disc. So likely that means its activated against the original purchases account which means you most likely cannot sell this second hand as the recipient probably cannot install it. Haha

They steal from us because I own a physical disk for Driveclub, a D-Listed game. I cannot play this game which I "own". This is why it is a problem with internet required games. They take down the servers and you no longer have access.
My bigger issue with download required to install is what happens when the game is no longer supported. With my Nintendo cartridge, I can plug it in any time and play. The all digital future means that I need to hope that the download server is still available for any games I own

Hey Alex, the 3 days Early Access in games seems to be the new thing. 2K is doing the same with TopSpin tennis game which is coming out this month. This seems to be the norm on a lot of titles of late. Another point is that Ubisoft has being doing this for their last few titles, encouraging you to sub to their Ubisoft+ offering new titles and Ultimate Editions with Early Access. They saw that EA were doing it with their EA Pro, and jumped on board.
Physical copy requires internet to install, artificially increasing prices to lure people into their subscription. "Gamers need to get comfy with not owning their games" Some ubisoft exec.
The main reason for having the complete game on the disc regardless of your Internet speed is that you can't guarantee that Ubisoft will support that download xx years into the future. For the people that are into physical games and preservation that's the key, not whether they have high speed Internet.
Single player games have had season passes for years, but they're usually ~$25 for 2-4 large DLCs that are still in development (e.g. Dark Souls 2 and 3). This "season pass" is only an exclusive day 1 DLC that is a single mission.
$40 for a chunk of cut content. Insane.
I have a 3 point system for buying games now, 1) works on steam/steamdeck (even if its demanding and I need to use remote play), 2) no predatory pay models or early access preorders 3) no piracy checking garbage that will install on my computer I've missed a half dozen games this year that i really wanted to play but I refuse to compromise my morals on number 2 and 3 and number 1 is just a convenience for me i hate sitting at my desk.
Am i missing something? i thought once you bought a PHYSICAL COPY you have the base game already installed EXCEPT for the DLC that comes with it you need to download that. Why fill the need to download the base game when the game itself is already on the disk there's no need to download it ?!
That's because the case will likely not even have a disc inside, just a download code. Horrible practice in gaming that's becoming more prominent.

Do we know if the actress was hired for her Likeness as well as performance and motion capture? Like, as much as I enjoy Christopher Judge as Kratos, he's hired for his acting and motion, not likeness. Couldn't this be the same deal? Did I miss a press release where ubisoft said the opposite?

If game developers made polished, well crafted, interesting games like rdr2 I'd gladly pay 2 to 300 bucks for them. But instead they make crap, charge more than they should, make people buy elsewhere. It really is evil.

And I think I heard that from what I understand is that the only way you can get a specific mission, which is a Jabba the Hutt mission & I think the only one you ever get from Jabba the Hut is to pre order the game. Which is absolutely bs, quests should only ever be in the game never part of DLC let alone locked as a pre order item, the only way I’d except downloaded missions/quests is if it is an expansion to add to the current story later in a big way, that’s what an expansion is to extend the story. Imo
