    Bought mine based on your insights and has been prefect in every way. Best car we own. Watched and did maintenance based on your videos. Nothing like a S85 V10.

    Very good video to teach the ones who just say bad things and they never a clue of what a m5 e60 is. The car has ti be treated like a human, warm up before getting exercise, do not eat bad food, summing up tray ourselves good. Treat this car good and make preventative maintenance. Every time I drove mine I feel like a unique driver 😂😂.. because the majority of the people don’t have a tiny idea of what is to drive such a car like this 👍👍👍💪💪💪. Thank you for the fulfilment.

    Well said. Most people on the forums regurgitate the same information about the bearings. These engines are masterpieces, but not maintained properly and they can be a nightmare.

    Five years ownership here too. Apart from the regular oil changes I’ve still only needed to replace a thermostat and a coil pack. Amazing reliability!
    Saying that - I would like to replace the injectors due to mileage, but OEM Bosch ones don’t seem to be available at the moment. The BMW ones from the dealer are available but are £££££

      That’s barely anything over a 5 year period. Injectors are a good preventative maintenance item, there is a huge demand on them at the moment. Would be nice to see Bosch continue to manufacture them

    So true Tech Guy, all of the e60 bashing has started to fissel out. I bought my 13 year old e60 m5 10 yrs ago & of course I knew before hand maintenance & repairs wasn't always going to be inexpensive.

      Yeah, started to fussed out because most of what was said never came true, and these cars have been around for a while now. Good to see you’ve owned yours for 10 years 👍

    Had mine for 18 months now, did the rod bearins myself and glad I did although they had some life left in them, have refreshed most suspension parts and now love driving it which with all the rain in the UK at present isnt very often 😪

      Good on you for taking care of the rod bearings yourself 👍 Bet it rides & handles like a new car with the suspension refreshed. Make sure you get your M5 out when the rain stops!

    Wow thank you for these great insights. I hadn’t considered the strain on the VANOS pump for parking up hills. My car has been parked in the garage for over a year because I found a ton of copper in oil. I’m saving up to replace the VANOS pump, bearings, and oil pump too just because I’m paranoid. I’ve just started the car and came back 15 minutes later when it was properly warm to drive it but I guess the previous owners didn’t car much. I’m lucky not to have injector issues yet, but I can’t even find replacments anywhere.

      The copper will be a sign of it being driven hard from cold previously. Just inspect the VANOS pump & oil pump when you do the bearings, it’s likely they a probably OK. Seems to be a shortage of them injectors at the mo, no Bosch ones available anywhere, try your local dealer

      Letting the car heat up for 15 minutes is doing more harm than good. Let it warm up for 60 to 90 seconds (whenever the idle settles below 1,000rpm) then drive it easy until the oil temp stabilizes around 100C.

    Excellent video as always. As an owner of one of these cars myself, the car is a nightmare if you don’t maintain them. I look after mine as my problems are normally E60 problems not M5 issues.

      I have an 08 550i m sport it’s expensive but worth it. This m5 is my next car if I can find one in good condition

    Hi Guy yet again a fantastic video straight to the point no BULL S..T just honest information..one thing i have noticed is people are waking up as the price of these cars are now shooting up for good examples .i went out in mine yesterday here in Manchester got talking and offered 48k for my car 2 owner 13k on clock full history...but i will never get another like this so its staying with me for good you was without any doubt the reason i got this car and after watching every one of your vids and 2 years of looking so ...THANK YOU ..❤❤💯🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

      Cheers Steve, I’m glad the videos inspired you to get yourself an E60 M5. That’s a reasonable amount to offer, sounds like yours is low miles which is rare now a days. I’ve seen the prices increase slightly here in NZ, but nothing significant

    Epic engines but they do need some love and that where it goes wrong; undoing issues with previous owners.
    I guess when they were new no one knew / cared about rod bearings. Then they got cheap and fell into the wrong hands and kabomb, someone else is left with the bill.

      True, a lot of it comes down to how well the car has been looked after up to this point. They have been around a while now, with many having had multiple owners over the years

    I have E60 M5 with codes
    002B35 DME: Misfire with cutoff cyl. 1
    002B42 DME: Misfire impairing exhaust emission. cyl. 1
    I already replaced 10 ignition coils, 10 spark plugs, x2 Fuel tank breather valves, x4 PCV valves, x4 o2 sensors, I replaced 1 fuel injector, fuel pump and fuel filter. And still I get cyl.1 misfire code
    Do I need to replace camshaft sensor? crankshaft sensor? Something else?

      Have you done a compression test and leak down test?
      It could be a broken valve spring. I would check the wiring to #1 coil too

    Driving in the 5th or 6th shift setting comment. Doesn't the transmission adjust shift speed based on your speed? so unless you're in 5th/6th speed setting driving fast, you wouldn't get much wear as it still shifts slow at slower speeds.

    Coming up 6 years ownership, nothing major to report, but cant sell it because of the scaremongering on the forums, word to the wise-- if you think the e60 is a money pit nightmare, try buying a f10 m5 with the s63, these can make the e60 look as reliable as a toyota corolla, (i own one of each)😂😂

      Hi Jay, was your M5 up for sale recently? Yeah not sure what to make of the F10 M5’s, not really read much about them online, but in real life I’ve seen and heard about a number of them with trashed engines
