    I want to make this channel a nicer place for people - its goal is to make people happier, solve their problems with a mechanic fuel injection called KE-Jetronic. I would like this channel to be place where people are going to gather and become friends, solve their problems concerning their cars and help other people solve their problems in their comments. Any other speech of hate, poking, pornographic advertising, curse words won't appear on this channel - this also goes for serbian language which is full of them.

Everyone who orders me what to do without a "could you please", or how ever you want to ask a person for something will be reported to youtube and blocked!!! There will be those who will be allowed to tell me a curse word but that status they will have to deserve, THANK YOU!

    thank you Ivica for these step by step explanations with pictures/videos. Some people may not know what that part is and its location. So your explanations are helping. The more we have great Mercedes running around, the better it is for every owner. Want/Help your friend`s Mercedes run better, then your Mercedes` value will go up. I am sure many followers will join your channel & donate from US, too, so as you did before, pls always warn them: USE ETHANOL FREE PREMIUM GAS.....or you will get all these parts failing faster than normal.

      My pleasure. I try to tell people that ethanol is very harmful for these cars. Normally you will never have problem with fuel distributor(the first thing mechanics in my country suspect when it's about KE-Jetronic and it's never that part). I say - just use fuel with ethanol and you can say goodbye to your fuel distributor! KE-Jetronic is a great system, a neglected one - a nightmare! If I could resurrect as more Mercedes as possible I would be glad enormously. Those are great cars. Once you have an expense but you re going to drive next 100k miles without any issues. Just remember to replace the lambda probe each 30k miles when you replace the fuel filter and you have no reason to panic.

      @@mercedeske hi! I have an issue on 2 of my 500sl mercedes. Both have k-jet, the fuel pumps are good on both. The fuel heads and injectors are good (new injectors, rebuilt heads to ethanol resistant seals). This issue presented itself after being parked up for a long time. The cars will start, but the fuel metering flap starts bouncing very rapidly and then the car cuts out and is very difficult to start again. If I hold the flap with my finger, it starts. Is this k-jet related or engine?

      @@mercedeske thank you for the reply. I have just checked the one i have next to me. The movement of the airflow meter flap is 4mm before it engages

      @@mercedeske i just checked the flap height and free play. I've adjusted it to spec and adjusted free play to 2mm, and then fine tuned it with the car running to achieve maximum vacuum. The car ran great until it warmed up, and it does the same thing. Stalls after the meter starts bouncing

    Great video, thank you. I have a 1988, 560 SEL and this video has helped me to understand the KE-Jetronic a little better. My car is running fine, except for a small EHA fuel leak. I just put some high strength plastic epoxy in and around the weep holes and no more leaks. This will only be a temporary fix until I can get a replacement. Never mind, all in hand. My first car while living in Germany was a Mercedes 180 D. 0-100 in ??? hours ;-). Had Mercedes cars off and on throughout my life. I'm now 75 years old and last year I saw this beautiful 560 SEL advertised I just could not resist. So it looks like I"m ending my driving life the way I started it - with the BEST OR NOTHING. I'm also enjoying your music videos. Just finished watching a clip you posted a few years ago with a band. Recorded in a beer garden of sorts. Had a couple of Jaegermeisters while watching, haha. Brings me back to my early life in Germany. I play keyboard, guitar and a bit accordion. How you manage to play the button squeezebox beats me, haha. You are doing very well. I have an organ museum.       Thank you very much, sir. The Mercedes is only one. Concerning your fuel leak you should take out the EHA. It's held by 2 thorx screws. Replace two green rubber o rings and there should be no more leaks. Because if the EHA leaks you are losing pressure. They are cheap but they mean a lot.

    Thanks for all your helpfull vids.
    Have a odd cold start issue, it's will start in around 12 cranks, or if I crank it 3 times then stop and then start again, it will fire right away.
    I took the cold start valve of and did the test you showed, on the first crank nothing comes out (around 10 cranks) then on the 2nd attempt I can see partial spray and on the third attempt a full spray. I assume its a pressure issue?
    What would most likely be the cause of that? (Haven't tested the pressure yet)

      Test the pressure but connect the pressure gauge and start the car to see if your pressure is steady. If this happens with the cold start valve, I would replace it.

    In order to reduce the agression caused by the fuel to the system I use to apply a bottle of 2 stroke oil in the tank, in a a 2 or 3 months interval. I feel a smoother operation of the engine.

      You mean the fuel pump filter?(the filter the inlet line at the distributor is attached to?)

      I made a video about that filter. It's very cheap to buy. It's good to be replaced. No improvement is achieved in terms of acceleration, fuel consumption or performance but it's good to be replaced because it's the 2nd of the 7 fuel filterations. Here is the link to the video

      Mi amigo. Esto es que te puedo dicer.Compruebe si hay una fuga de vacío en las líneas que van al medidor. Cuanto más se abre el acelerador, más se mueve el manómetro hacia el rojo porque tiene más presión (menos vacío). Una fuga en esa línea lo mantendrá en el centro o en rojo todo el tiempo

    Hey, thanks for these video's. I have a W201 1983 190E 2.0 122hp imported from Germany with a catalyst added after. Catalyst where mandatory in Germany to be added on older cars back in the day.
    The problem is that the cold start is not working really wel, it takes ages to start when the motor is cold. Idle and a warm motor is working fine. Right now its in the Bosch Service Center and I hope they can find the issue. If not I would like to come in contact with you :) it seems you know you stuff.

    Hello my friend. Wonderful video.I have 3 cars W201 190E and i spend a lot of hours and days to repair them. Two were abandoned. Anyway. One of them ,the good one hasreally problem when is cold. It starts first time but in 3 seconds dies. Then again and again until keeps idle speed. I replaced relays ,cold start valve, fuel pump, spark plugs, fuel distributor , pressure regulator .Injectors i cleaned them with carburator spray. What is wrong with it ???

      Hello and thanks. At first, the injectors can NOT be restored by cleaning, replace them, second, replace the potentiometer and calibrate it, for the beginning.

    I am confused 🤔 now just have t leave the car to rot there I have tried everything I could to fight tht problem !of petrol getting into oil pan bt wasted my money !w124 Benz I gave up

      This is a serious problem. If it's not the gasket then it's the piston rings that are worn out. In order to see the condition of the piston rings or to replace them you will have to take the whole engine out and that's a serious operation.

    What is the small metal pipe for on the fuel pressure regulator? when ignition is turned on why does fuel flow out return pipe instantly?

      You have 3 of them. The smallest one up - from that one the fuel flows from the fuel distributor, the one down - the differential pressure line and the one right - that's where fuel flows back to the tank.

    Great Video! Do you have in program something for D-Jetronic Fuel System ? :D I have a W116 280SE that has that system.

      Hi and thanks. I have some literature on D-Jetronic and I can figure out the working principal. The most important for the system is not to have vacuum leaks because it's very important for that system to measure the quantity of the intake air. There is some part on that system, a sensor that measures the quantity of the air sucked in and it's of a vital importance for the system. As for the injectors, I'm not sure if they can be cleaned(I believe not) in the ultrasonic bath. So, if you have any issues check the injectors/replace them, check for the vacuum leaks and eventually you would have to replace that sensor that measures the intake air. That much I can say about D-Jetronic.

    Hello! Thank you for the amazing information! I have an m104 R129. I am getting a diagnostic code for full load contact won't open. I assume that has to do with the throttle position switch? I have tested it and I do have continuity between pins 2 and 3 at full throttle, so I am not sure why this code is showing up. 🤔

      I have an led flasher(California model) the Led blinks 13 times. In the code pdf for 129.061 it says 13 blinks is full load contact does not open.

    Hi! great video explaining the KE jettronic.. my car has got a problem with the system and wondering if you can help?
    -the car wont start
    -the car starts running if the sensorplate is pushed down by hand becouse it wont stay down
    -fuel pump sounds good and gets fuel to the distributor
    - the fuel pressure regulator rubber hose is broken but is that enough to not make the car start?
    Is there a vaccum leak becouse the sensorplate wont go down and the engine cant get air?
    best regards from Finland and my car is a 1992 2.0L 190e

      Hi and thanks for the regards and kind words. Concerning your car - your fuel pressure regulator is bad, as I would say - if the rubber hose is cracked you will have a fuel leak. Do you have fuel leaks? If you do you will be losing pressure and your car will be jerking🤣😁(shaking, stumbling) while accelerating or when you press the accelerator pedal. The only option is to replace the regular. Now concerning the sensor plate, try pushing it down by hand while the car is off and listening carefully if there is a rubbing, there must not be a metal against metal rubbing. I hope no one messed up with the mixture screw or rebuilding the fuel distributor. Those are my first thoughts. Best regards to you, too.

      Hello again and thanks for answering!! i will be replacing the regulator as i find a used one becouse a brand new one cost on autodoc ~400€..
      the regulator doesnt leak i fixed it somewhat with glue so i dont think the main problem is there..
      but the car wont start almost at all.. the pressureplate is not going down as i start the car..
      I can manage to get it somewhat running when i press the plate but because the plate is not going down the car is choking and doesnt run nowhere near good when i press it..
      the car is driven only driven 200 000km and it has had no major problems or fixes because it has been working as intended.
      the problem occurred when i went to the store and shut the car off as normally but when i returned the car did not start running so that was kinda strange..
      im thinking as i mentioned earlier that the system has maybe a vaccum leak so the fuel injection system does not work at all but i can see you know more about the system so im looking forward to see how you reflect upon this issue that i have with my car:)

      adding to my last comment i think also that the fuel accumulator is working also because when the plate is pressed there is some resistance and the plate is not rubbing anywhere but the engine seems to choke because of the plate and therefore the engine stalls as soon as i stop pressing the plate when trying to get the car to run..

      @@aleksandardjuraskovic7742 Ama, znaaaam, nisu normalni, i meni trazili isto toliko ovde u Srbiji. Ja sam ga narucio iz SAD-a. Stigao za 2 nedelje. Ja ga platio 268$ Sto mu dodje oko 28000din. Bolje i da sacekas nego da se neko "ogradjuje" na tebe!

    Amazing video as always! I was specially curious at 8:30 where you mention that some gas like 'fog' is okay under the air-flow meter plate. But it's not good if it's very wet. Mine feels quite wet, and when I depress the plate and put my nose there, I can smell fuel. Does this mean I should replace the O-rings? And would you recommend doing the entire distributor rebuild since it will have to be pulled for these O-ring replacements anyway. I don't have a running problem, my car takes a little long to start in the morning, but otherwise runs fine, however, after 2-3 minutes of driving, I start smelling fumes through the air vent. EHA is not leaking. In the morning, I also smell some fumes in the cabin when I open the door. I've looked at all other possible places but can't find a source, thinking this fuel accumulation under the plate may be the source!

      Thanks. Try replacing the seal ring. You don't have to disassemble the whole FD for that. Just to unscrew the screw under the FD and replace the rubber ring. Be careful to remember the distance between the nut and the screw(usually it's 0.6mm) but note your distance just in case. Greetings

      Si su acumulador de presión es malo, entonces tendrá problemas de arranque en caliente. Esa es la parte que tiene que ser reemplazada después de un tiempo. Tiene que ser revisado cada 150000 km y después de 200000 reemplazado. Es bastante caro hoy en día y eso es todo lo que puedo decir. Si hay algo más que necesites sobre el auto... ¡dímelo a mí y mis chicas te lo dirán a ti en mi lugar!😂!😂!😂

      @@fioravantimascella3744 Verifique la válvula de arranque en frío y el sensor de temperatura del refrigerante. Si su motor se detiene después de un tiempo (unos 30 segundos), reemplace el potenciómetro y calibre si aún no lo ha hecho.

    Hello, my car starts well and idles well for two minutes then it stalls. (M102 200E with no Oxygen sensor) Immediately after stalling, it cannot start until about 10 minutes later. What could be the issue?

      If the car is warm and makes those problems then it's the fuel accumulator.

      @@JosephAndeka Try it with the pressure gauge. Hook it up at the lower chamber, let the car run for a while and then stall it. Take a chair and take a sit. ;-) Now you will have to be watching at the pressure gauge - the pressure MUST NOT fall under 3bar in 30MINUTES!!!(that's why I said joking to take a sit ;-)) That's another test for the fuel accumulator if it's good or not.

      After performing all the tests on the mechanical part of the ke-jetronic system and also the electrical part, my problem turned out to be the igniter module/unit.

    i have a problemthere i have replace the fuel line from the fuel filter to the engine and now it wont start any more..it starts but stalls..any idea’s? I have replace the pump and filter already but no luck..

      Check the breather hoses, the rubber boot, check the pressures with fuel pump bridged.

      Hi, turn the EHA screw for a quarter of a turn counterclockwise and then measure with the pressure gauge.

      @@mercedeske my measurement was wrong because ventile in hose. It was 5,25 so too lean. Well eha adjustment skrew was somehow loose so i took it all out and that small o ring was off its place and almost broken. Need to sort that out next.

    I am a new W124 purchaser I bought a White 1989 300E and am learning about my car. It has a lot of issues the tank was rusty I had to clean it, I put on 2 new pumps filter and a pressure regulater it starts hard it runs rich whenit is warmed up it gets to much fuel and loads up it runs rough and a little slugish. I have been watching your videos for a while now and have since realized my OVPrelay is bad and might have been bad all along I took it apart and it has had moisture mud and stuff inside and smells like batt acid I bought a neww one and it does nothelp could it have taken out the Ecu? I am sure it is shorted out inside the car is in good shape it has 155,ooo miles good paint and good interior what do you yhink?

      Have you more than 120k miles on the clock? If yes, replace the injectors, the O-2 sensor, the potentiometer, buy a pressure gauge and measure the pressures, you must get 5.3-5.5bar. Give me also the code of your engine and I will tell you which sensors you need to check more.

    Yoo my friend, my audi 80 b3have the similar type of motor, 1.8 benz so this EHA valve leaks benzin from it and motor works poorly and rough an vibrating a lot and taking gas very slow when pres gas pedal, so can it be my problem to fix the car idling poor and vibrating when I physichaly see it leeks from eha valve, to fix it and should it run much better or it can be something more, spark plugs are new btw.       @@mercedeske cini mi se da curi na toj tackici valjda gdje nalijeze ta rupica na onedvije zelene gumice, dal je moguce da treba to u milimetar fiksirati a srafovi se zavrnu dobro I ulegne sve dakle to bi trebalo biti to, e tu I curi jer kad popustim sarafe a motoe je prije toga radio odatle frkne/istekne mozda dva cepa od flase benzina jer sam.uklonio eha valvea, Normalno kad ga zavrnem opet a gumice su na mjestu I savim citave kao I nove, onda se cini da baca gorivo/benzin iznad eha valve. Nije dihtung/dijafragma ona velika na tzv K glavi kako se vec tacno zove to nisam upamtio. Pokusat cu opet sutra odvrnuti I navrnuti milimetar nize valjda ne bude curilo poslije. Uglavnom. Eha valve bude mokar I osjeti se benzin dobro, vidljivi su trahovi benzina jer bas ono curi nije kap I da stane tu. Inace motor I dalje radi jedva na gasu u leru I me trese kao da radi normalno samo je bucan mnogo, kad popustam gas I to polako opadnu obrtaji I cim dodje do 500 obrtaja ubrzo se ugasi jer bas tesko radi, sad dal ga bas ovo koci sto tu curi benzin na taj eha valve ili nesto drugo nemam pojma.

    So I have watched your videos on the KE-Jetronic, and others, but no one seems to address the issue of having good fuel pressure to the distributor, but no fuel out of the injector lines--except for the cold start injector. Any suggestions as to what would cause this? Thanks

      @@mercedeske I'm not sure how exactly to do that with the car not running. I did check the pressure at the port by the cold start line and the port by the line that goes to the regulator and there was about .5 or .6 bar less at the regulator port--but I'm not sure how accurate my readings were.

      I jumped the fuel pump relay and checked the pressures again. The top port (cold start) was 5.6bar and the bottom port was 5.2 bar. However the pressure on the bottom port took a few seconds to build up, not sure if that is normal or not. I also pulled one injector line off the distributor and nothing came out, however I did get some very slight flow (small amount) when I pushed down on the air plunger.

      @@mercedeske namontiro sam.staru ka glavu onu priginalnu njegovu ako se sjecas Eha ventil je vurio benzin, pa sad ako opet bude pustao tu stavio eha ventil s ove ka glave koju sam.skinuo ona nije pustala, moguce da je potenciometar los ili nesto u razdjelniku, probacu sve varijante, novi filter sam nabavio isto za gorivo I njeg montirati pa vidjet onda, ako bude isto e stvarno ne znam do.ceg je struja onda najvjerovatnije ili senzor radilice (kojeg ne znam ni gdje se nalazi) ili neki drugi senzor.
