With the help of me learn how to fix your car yourselves and save ton of money, because the dealership charges you for the labor as well as for the parts they earn money on. In some lands the "all knowing mechanics" repair the car they know nothing about! This channel has the task to teach you how to repair your car when sometimes it's not about the part(sometimes it is unfortunately). Learn how to repair your own car, in your own garage using common tools(torx hex key will be the most "exotic" tool you are going to use), a pressure gauge and multimeters, because no one is going to do that better then you, more accurate. You know that saying:"Someone else's hand does not itch!!!"(you are the only one who is going to do your job the best way you want it to!). But even when it's about the part, I can help you buy the original one at lower cost.

My topic is the KE-Jetronic injection system which I try to demystify as much as I can.
For all of you to understand the system in brief - Developed in 1973 and being mounted into cars up to 1993 as it went in history. But why these to letters!?(KE) K(from German "kontinuierliche Einspritzung" meaning continuos injection, without interruption) the MECHANICAL injection system on which the fuel starts flowing from the fuel tank sucked by the FUEL PUMP and delivered to the FUEL DISTRIBUTOR which sends fuel to the INJECTORS while the majority of it flows through the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR through its return line back to the fuel tank again. The letter E(elektronische Gemischanpassung/electronically controlled mixture adaptation) has to mark the electronic sensors (the developement starting from early eighties) which had to inform the ECU about the current state of the engine so that the ECU(Electronic Control Unit) then could create current signal in mA(miliampers) and send it to four crucial components for the system - the EHA(the electro-hydraulic actuator, a unit consisting of a magnet, an electromagnet and a baffle plate) which had to fine tune the engine in each of its phases, the ICV(the idle control valve), the unit which was predicted for the engines perfect idle, the X11(the diagnostic socket) where the duty cycle(the ideal mixture) was adjusted and the X11/4(the code reader) - the socket which from any codes were read if present using an OBD1 scanner.
An extraordinary injection system which could be fully repaired in your own garage using a multimeter and a pressure gauge only for its fine tuning, together with some common tools.

Hello , thanks for your efforts I have problem in my w124 M103 engine, when i connect the icv plug ( 2 pins), the engine cut off during driving when i lift my foot off the gas pedal . I replaced the potentiometer by a new one but problem didn't resolve. Hope you help me resolved

hello, i have an 1983 380 sec. the problem i am having with the car is that after you turn the car on when you press on the gas pedal the engine stumbles and shuts off. any suggestions?

Ivice pomagajjjj....danas sam stigao na posao da 124 kom najnormalnije i da ga upalim da krenem kući i ne reaguje neće da upali a ne čuje se pumpa da zuji za benzin kad dam kontakt skinuo sam relej pumpe za gorivo ne dolazi struja uopšte na kontakte gde je problem pitaj boga
I kad upalim kontakt zaboravi da ti kažem blinka mi ona lampica od klime ono ima ono dugme sa malom crvenom lampicom što je nacrtan krug da vrti unutra vazduh u kabini da ne uvlači spolja to dugme ima malu lampicu i ona blinka kad upalim kontakt da li je oko struje neki kratak spoj ili nešto bog zna šta
Probaj da prespojis kontakte 87&30. Ako se zavrti pumpa onda je verovatno relej pumpe za gorivo.
Nema tu struje Ivice probao sam sve ne reaguje kućište releja tu je problem

I had a starting issue on my 190E 1.8 manual 1992 and i pulled out the relay and someone bridged the two pins together but the pump still doesnt work , any ideas ? Is the relay completely kaput ?

Hello sir , for 1&3 I got 4.6 and for 1&2 I got 3.4 and with the plate pressed it goes back and forth from 12 to 17 , would my potentiometer be good?

Hi, no, it can cause the pressure to start dropping! Warm start issues are typical for the fuel accumulator.

what if the control pressure is low and the system pressure normal i have 5.7 control pressure and 6.6 system pressure with a diff pressure of 0.9 bar,The car runs perfect but i dont understand the cause of this...

Pozdravi ivice zbog čega auto kad radi na leru dam gas na primer do 3000 obrtaja i pustim gas i obrtaji padnu do oko 1100 i onda radi potenciometar i oni polako padaju na oko otprilike 700 i to je super a kad vozim i hoću da se zaustavim moram da ga zadržim na gasu nema tog zaustavljanja na oko 1100 obrtaja i padaju i ugasi se auto ako ga ne zadržim na gasu ne razumem kao da ima neku grešku ili nzm
Pozdrav. Treba proveriti faze EH ventila kad je auto zagrejan. Da li na kontaktu dobijas 20 mA, da li na 80 stepeni dobijas oscilacije -3 do 0 mA i da li ako kada dignes auto na 3500 i pustis gas dobijas oko -70 mA(-66 tacnije). Tad EHV radi sta treba da radi. Interesantno da kod mene se isto javlja slucaj da kad stavim kataloski kompjuter auto mi se gasi kao i tebi. Sa kompjuterom nove generacije auto kao da se ugasi, ali ipak ostane na leru. Moze da bude i do kompjutera. Imam video gde sam objasnjavao faze EH ventila i gde nisam dobio fazu prekida goriva do -66mA, moracu to da proverim opet. Eto, tako stoje stvari. Pozdrav!
My w124 just suddenly shut off with no indication and now it only cranks, never had problems before only sometimes with warm start It would start and shut off right away. But now it won't start and if it does start it dies after 2-3 min

Start good kold, after 1or 2 min it runs very bad , and when we take it on until it warm up it go’s wors , new spark , fuelpump, injectors,bobine, sparkcabels,rotor, distrubutor is cleaned up on the points ,fuel filter also new, point 2an3 meeting between 6and 7 volt, I reached up the mixter with 1/2 turn +3 times 1 degree , the relay with 10 Ampere is not broken, the lamp abs is not on when runing , and after he warms up will not start even after long trying, motor M 103 w107 300 Sl from 88 , please wat do you think , mixter to rich or accumulator ? Hey, i looked your video, tried to check, fuel pressure, air mixture screw everything is in spec, car has 130k km. Runs nice on idle, and drive ok, but its lazzy on throotle respons and it reach max 5k rpm. If you driving its even less max rpm. Maybe have any idea?
Hi Ivica, my G300 after warming up and driving around, when at traffic lights i put from D to N the rpm goes up at 1100. Then, i press the pedal a bit and release, the rpm down to 750. And its always like that when i put from Drive to neutral. I have check all of the throttle link and clean them with wd-40. The mechanism is good, but the idle always stuck at 1100. have you ever get a problem like me? Thanks

Sigo su canal, muy interesante para mi, pues tengo un W123 230E de 1982 en magnífico estado al cual revisé el sistema de inyección hace 4 años incluido la bomba y el acumulador de presión ya que me daba fallos de arranque en caliente, el coche marchaba de maravilla hasta la semana pasada que volvió a dar fallo de arranque en caliente otra vez ¿Es posible que el acumulador se haya vuelto a averiar tan pronto otra vez? Su consejo es muy importante para mí, ya que es usted uno de los pocos expertos en la materia que quedan. Por favor no deje de ilustrarnos con su maravilloso canal. Saludos desde Toledo, España.

I have a 1988 w126 420sel with pre-OBD system. There is only a round, 9 pin connector and no other connector or data port/output in engine bay. Will this method work, or is there a similar jumper method for this model? It is showing check engine light on, but I don't know how to retrieve the codes. Thank you for any help!
Hello. I think it will work. I think that the check engine light could be because of the lambda. Have you replaced the lambda probe?

@@mercedeske there is very little info about this set up. Most all references mention the impulse display button, or at least being able to use a probe or display. The other references mention only lambda readout, and I think there's a duty cycle output supposedly, but no reference to code acquisition. So, I should go ahead and jump pin 1 &3, and see what happens? Thank you so much for your guidance!

Hello Ivica! Great videos and thank you for helping me with refreshing the m102 in my 190e. I also have a question for you. I have replaced my potentiometer due to bad idle surging (the grafite layer was gone on one spot). I've instaled an OE Bosch potentiometer and when I measure the resistance between first two pins I get a OL reading in just one spot of the downwards movement of the pressure plate. (Measuring with a decent Voltcraft mutlimeter.) Also just for info, I have not yet calibrated the sensor or ran the engine (would do that if the sensor was OK). Do you think the new potentiometer is faulty or the two little inside pins might be bent? Or should I calibrate it to 0,7V just like you showed in the other video and later check it again? Hello. Now you are confusing me. If you have replaced the potentiometer you could have seen if the sliders are damaged or not. Concerning other things calibrate the potentiometer and then you will see what happens. The potentiometer has to be calibrated. Greetings and enjoy.
@@mercedeske Sorry for the confusion. The sliders looked good, was just wondering if that was maybe posible. Will calibrate the potentiometer today and check the resistance again. Thank you for your time!
@@mercedeske Hi, i've tried calibrating the potentiometer. Got it to 0,7V but then as usual it started surging rpm up and down when it got to operating temp. I've replaced microswitch, injectors, sparkplugs, spakplug cables, dizzy cap, rotor and the ICV works. Only thing i havent checked/changed is fuel pump and EHA, OVP. The rpms start jumping up and down only when it gets to operating temp, never when its below 80°c. Do you have any tips? 😅 I'm desperate
