- If you go into any AMC theater in the past year, you’ve been graced with one of the best theater chain openings of all time. I’m sure anyone watching this video knows exactly what I’m referring to. If not, it’s none other than Nicole Kidman welcoming you to the movies. But back in 2001, Nicole teamed up with Alejandro Amenabar to make one of the creepiest, supernatural horror flicks of all time. It's a film that was not only a big box office success, but is also a truly spooky film with a twist that M. Night Shyamalan himself would enjoy it! So sit back, cover the curtains and make sure to turn up your volume as we revisit The Others.

Nicole was robbed an Oscar that year for sure. And that plot twist at the end was one of the rug pulls I've felt in a theater.
I saw this at the theater years ago.
The old lady speaking in the child’s voice still freaks me out to this day.
A classic! Nicole Kidman deserved at least an Oscar nomination, if not win, for this performance.
I remember my wife and I seeing this back-to-back with Moulin Rouge. This was a classic old school ghost movie with great sets and costumes
I saw this in the theaters when it came out. When her character sees the help in that picture…man, I got CHILLS!
AGH! The practice of taking those kind of pictures was beyond eerie.
A timeless film, which leads me on to ask why on earth it needs a remake?
Yeah makes no sense since the plot twist isn't a twist if everybody and their mum knows.
The Others was such a great movie
I really love this movie. I wish there was a little more horror in it and more spooky, but this movie is near perfect.
This movie was one of my gateway horror films and I highly recommend it to any horror movie beginner. Even if you don't find it scary, it's still a damn good film and a genuinely good ghost story. It gives strong Shirley Jackson vibes.
For me it's probably one of the best movies of all time. Also I like how different Christopher Eccleston looks here compare to his role in Doctor Who.
This movie is an absolute masterpiece
This is an excellent spooky movie. Can't imagine anyone else but Nicole as the mom.... movie just wouldn't have been the same!
I only saw this movie once, in theater. Great atmosphere, story, directing and probably the best Nicole Kidman performance for my money. Among other great movie she was in earlier on in her career, To die for needs a mention.
The others yeah, great flick, it looks so simple on first glance but the film walks a tightrope from start to finish.
As a lifelong fan of this film and a CZcams addict I gotta say great video and really great ending
It's the Old School flavour
from the 60s and 70s.
Let's see more of that style come back.
Give the blood & guts to
SHUDDER.
The first film I saw Nicole Kidman in was Dead Calm, with Sam Neill and Billy Zane. Still a good thriller.
same and it kicked off my crush on Billy Zane. Then Demon Knight & Titanic cemented it. Probably doesn't say good things about me. 😂
Thank you Nicole Kidman, for telling me how AMC Theaters makes movies better!
The first time I watched The Others, I basically thought that it more or less loose adaptation of Henry James' Turn of the Screw. The Others is a really great movie, but personally I think The Innocents from 1961 starring Deborah Kerr is a far more iconic and creepy Gothic Horror. Anyone who loves The Others should definitely check it out, as it's available for free on CZcams.
NO!!! No remakes! It's perfect the way it is! Stop messing with the best!! >=(
Saw it in theatre and loved it.
The Scary Movie part tho 😂😂😂
Others is one of the best psychological thrillers ever made
I love this film! What a great twist :D
Absolute CLASSIC!
Ugh this film needs no remake
I enjoyed this movie 20-something years ago. I recently downloaded it (legally, of course) but haven't gotten around to watching it again.
I love this channel
Thank you!
I didn’t know much about the background of this movie. Thanks for the sharing your knowledge about this film!
Don't forget Dead Calm, another Kidman Classic.
Great movie, one of the best Horror-Movies in my book (and I don't even like horror)!
My mom used to play this tape ALL THE TIME
I worked at a video store when this came out and one of the other employees said she saw the ending coming from a mile away 20 minutes in. I just agreed.
I love this movie, old fashioned ghost story. Nicole Kidman was awesome and deserved an Oscar. Thanks
When I First Saw The Others On Showtime A Couple Of Years Ago I'll This Movie Is Very Very Haunting For A Pg-13 Rated Horror Film.
Great movie. The kind that you remember for years.
I got to see this in theaters. This is all but a horror classic for me. Recently got the Criterion Blu Ray. It's great.
I love this movie 🎥 Great twist ❤🎉
0:25 not forgetting the classic, BMX Bandits.
This one actually fooled me. I usually guess the hook.
I went to the movies to see something else, that was sold out. Picked this movie as a backup, not knowing anything about it. It’s one I’ll never ever forget.
Amazing
On a side note, that’s also how I saw The Ring. We went to see One Hour Photo, but we couldn’t. So we saw The Ring instead. Again, not knowing anything about it.
Come to think of it, maybe that’s how I should start picking my theater trips.
Excellent film!
Great film.
Eyes Wide Shut
And
Vanilla Sky as well.
I sampled the hell out of this movie.
Apparently Odeon cinemas in the UK are owned by AMC, we also got that Nicole Kidman intro :)
She deserved the Oscar for this not the awful Moulin Rouge.
She won for The Hours which she was brilliant in!
Nicole Kidman was amazing and should win an Oscar and this movie one of the best
Does anybody remember the Others from 1972 with the actor playing twin boys? 🤔
The best ghost movie of all time
I loveeeeee this movie 😭😭😭🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
0:47 I love your videos
YEEEES I LOVE PRACTICAL MAGIC
Nicole Kidman is my favorite actress and I do own the movie on DVD. It was a blind purchase.
We all know this is a remake, right? The Innocents???
A remake of what is perfect has to pull an other worldy feat.
"Without giving the ending away think of the 6th Sense"... Did he seriously say that?
It was a good movie 😈👍
A haunted house from the ghost point of view.
@grapeshot
I like how he said that he won’t spoil the ending and then you come on here.
@@niterida380 he did spoil the ending right at the end, he shows a scene of Kidman at a seance after the big twist is revealed in the film
I love Nichole but can do without the AMC greeting
Hollywood is dead.
They keep doing remakes and reboots. So they pretty much do not have talent currently working there anymore since they keep leaching off past classics and leaning on already told stories as a crutch. The fact they want to remake films that arent 50 years old is all people need to know. Why pay high prices for stories that have already been told? to use the "out dated fx" as an legit reason, well I got news for ya, movies and tv shows, books and music are the closest things we have to time machines. So the whole "out dated" doesnt apply when escapism is concerned.
For me, this film was excellent with only the weakness of Nicole's acting weighing it down. She wanted to portray a mother who had gone insane, but sadly, she came across more as an hysterical, screaming meemie, It would have been a better film IF the lead have been played by a more talented actress--someone like say, Ellen Barkin or perhaps Sissy Spacek.
Not at all. Her acting is impecable. All your complaints are what make her character so believable, she's a perfect representation of a strict and fanatic mother.
Did you just refer to gothic horror as 'ghost horror'?
I'm not a fan of this film. The look and setup is too reminiscent of THE INNOCENTS and the twist could be seen coming pretty early on. When it comes to "quiet horror," there are better flicks out there IMHO.
A movie being reminiscent of another doesn't make it bad lmao what even is that argument
And the plot twist isn't predictable at all unless you've watched the crappy sixth sense beforehand
0:19 am I the only one tired of the AMC intro though?😂 I love her but it’s awkward.
I didn't like it, found it boring and I guessed the 'massive twist' after about 10 minutes, it was almost the exact same twist as the 6th sense so how did it catch so many of you out? lol There's no denying it made good money but for me personally, I thought it was a pretty weak viewing experience. But hey, if we all liked the same things the world would be a tad dull :)
Honey wasn't made for the donkey's mouth, bro.
The Others is vastly superior to The Sixth Sense. Better acting, better cinematography, better story, better music... The Sixth Sense was extremely predictable, while The Others punches you in the face with the twist. Watching the crappy sixth sense is the worst thing you can do before watching The Others. Sorry for you.
If you liked The Others, you'll LOVE The Orphanage. Thank me later 😉
I watched this as a tween. This movie if fucking boring with a dope twist….
This movie isn't for gen Zs, sorry
Millennial fuck boi
I’m sorry, this movie is boring asf.
As we say in Spanish: the honey wasn't made for the donkey's mouth
This movie sucked I remember seeing it in theater and the ending was so predictable..just watch the 6th Sense.
Lmao the sixth sense is a joke compared to The Others. The Sixth Sense is far more predictable and the writing is lame.
Your predictable and enjoy both movies
