    First off, great stuff and info you present, thank you. After watching this vid and the 30 min one, I want to echo back what I heard on playing with OS and how to "get them" and use them. I have a P01 on 2002 5.3 I swapped and have HPTuners license to all 2002 Silverado engines. From their tune repository I downloaded a 2002 Tahoe stock tune which has Flex ENABLED. So the process to start/get a FLEX tune is to purchase a license for that Tahoe tune file, do the compare/difference from my tune to that Tahoe tune file. Then I flash that Tahoe tune to my P01 and I would be running the FLEX OS with my configuration tune. Doing that would keep my VIN as is but have the FLEX OS feature on my ECU. Further, I can enable MAF Enhanced RTT os mod on that file (I am MAF based only for now, if not forever on this rig) and enable that as well. Is that a correct echo back on what you have said? I have watched both videos a number of times now and it makes better sense each time and adds some more questions - which is good. GREAT stuff you have and great presentation.

    • @norsk54472
      @norsk54472 Před 6 lety

      Okay I did license the tahoe and updated it with my current silverado tune I have created over time. I wrote that to my spare P01 ECU and I learned that writing ENTIRE write the tune's VIN as well. Thus my ECU has become a Tahoe ECU. Didn't know that. Learn things at every turn.

    Lower base pressure will help the large injectors like the Bosch 210's achieve better idle quality, and will not be so rich when you are limited by your fuel table resolution.

    Damnit! There goes my views! LOL. Good video brother! 👍 That lower resolution is why I recommend just using a 2 bar if you dont plan on going above 14psi on a P59. That way you get a tiny bit more resolution. Of course if you wanna go above that and still want that flex fuel then you really dont have much choice. That custom OS with the boost VE is something id like to play around with as well. Any links on that?

    The numbers at the beginning of the VIN says where theyre made.
    1- USA
    2- Canada
    3- Mexico.
    All three of them use a different OS and all use theyre own O2 sensors and from what Ive found, they cant be interchanged.
    I tried using the flat blade O2 sensors with a Canada ECM and it didnt work out. I had to get the corresponding ECM for the O2 sensors.

    Let me preface this comment by saying I’ve never done any tuning, total newbie, just picked up a 98 Chevy van with a mpfi efi 454. I took the efi and heads off to put on a 502 short block for my motorhome. No boost, marine roller cam, headers and dual exhaust, 4L80e trans, 4.56 gears and 32” tall tires. Should I swap to a LS computer to tune the bigger motor with cam and headers? Run closed loop? My first step will be reading the sloppy wiki site, as well as some great stuff on the Chevelle site. Any guidance is appreciated!

      Yes the dual VE and the Boost vs. KPA; you are able to pull timing via MAP which is a cool feature. My tune isn't scaled so I run right off my timing table at 1.20+ g/s. I had someone with EFI Live do a base tune back before I had HP Tuners.

  • @Marc_Wolfe
    @Marc_Wolfe Před 3 lety

    Wait, if all the MAP sensors go from 0 to 5 volts (0 being full vacuum and 5 being sensor's max boost rating), you might be able to use a 1 bar sensor and tell the ECU to read it as a 3 bar, and just keep in mind that the KPA numbers on the table are false. That could get you the extra resolution of the 3 bar map.

    P59 QUESTION!!! Warning this question is of rambletronian levels and might sound like a cluster of ignorance. I have a 04 GTO ls1/t56 cable throttle body twin turbo set up ( it’s a swap) I’d like to for now run under like 15 psi ( if I swap to l33 bottom end, if not I’ll only push like 7psi ) I’d also like to run flex fuel because I’m a greedy rat. Am I straight up waisting my time using the p59 with the AIC chip ? I don’t wanna show up and have the tuner look at me like I’m from planet Rambletron of pure Rambletronian decent. By the way I think Sloppys play on the word ramble is pure genius.

    With a basic voltage divider you might be able to use a full 3 bar map on a naturally asperated engine. You'd just have to keep in mind that you're tuning on a purposely created false reading sent to the computer. Actually no, I think you'd need to multiply voltage, and a divider would only let you get a chunky, low resolution 1 bar map to work with boost... oh well.

I thought I saw in another video of yours something about your o2's overcompensating for fuel or something, and thought running closed loop in boosted vehicles with the older computers is dangerous because the MAF is too slow or something (at least what I've read in forums). • @bloodcamarosexmagik4223
      @bloodcamarosexmagik4223 Před 6 lety

      Bad Luck Garage Oh, gotcha, thank you. So it's regulating fuel by the MAP table and o2's. I didn't know you could run closed loop without MAF. But I thought even the o2's weren't accurate enough to trust? Idk lol, I'm still learning. So the 2 bar and 3 bar OS's that you can select in Hptuners are set up for closed loop then?

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage Před 6 lety +1

      Closed loop only occurs under partial throttle conditions. Under those conditions you’re commanding stoich which is what the narrowband O2s are designed to read. They aren’t used at WOT since you’re then in open loop and commanding something other than stoich.

    I'm not sure the p59 is worth it for cable users. Flex is mostly irrelevant to a weekend/race car since it will rarely if ever change between fuels. Even then 50-80% ethanol use virtually the same timing. It's only worth it for an OEM or tuner that has a guaranty/warranty at stake.
