LS1B P01 P59 DIY NO COST Tuner Lock BYPASS

- Remove or Bypass the tuner lock on the P01 512kb pcm used on 3rd gen LS engines from 99-02 and on the P59 1mb Pcm's used from 03-07 on 3rd gen engines.
***DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK***
Extreme care must be used when doing this. The pcm will be powered up and active when you bypass the lock. Since this method requires grounding a pin from the flash chip it is very important to make sure your grounding the correct pin or it's likely you will damage/destroy the pcm.
Only ground the pin for around 1 second and immediately read or write the pcm.

Hey mate. Did you do this method while the pcm is in the car? I just got my mpvi2 the other day, waiting for a free weekend to get stuck into it and just wanted to know if it can be done in car or if I should buy or make a bench harness. Cheers mate

THANK YOU! Worked great on my 411 pcm with hptuners.. Guys just touch the pin for a second and hit write entire within a few seconds (i used stock file) and then flashed again with my 2 bar RTT file... If it bricks again redo it again...super simple

youre right mate, more than happy to let you know! you've honestly helped a ton of ppl with this. I've done a good 10-15 vt-vy commodore ecus and never had a drama.
with hptuners it still says its a tunerlocked tune but ive found if I do a write vin/vats/tunerlock with another tune and use the jumper method then I can read the ecu and even though the tune I used was unlocked I use the key from that tune. that way I have an unchanged tune that is then unlocked from then on.
not sure if theres an easier way?

what process did you actually end up doing in the end?
IT works! I was able to read with HPTuners, i couldn't open the file tho, still locked by another user (anything that can be done about that?) but i was able to use the PCM again, reflashed with stock tune and voila, thaks for sharing!
how did you get it to work with hp tuners i have 2 P04 ecms that are tuner locked and I can't get it to read still

@@Gallo_Baja won’t even show me the hardware I can read it without doing the trick but can’t save the file, and I get unlicensed vehicle when I have them unlocked.
I can get the file off but can't open it. Can someone chime in how they were able to open the file that's tuner locked?

Were you able to open the file after you read the pcm using hp tuners or was it still locked?
I can unlock it, but flash it during the unlocking process with another file with Hptuners.
Mad Max Garage i would like to get the tune out of the pcm, and then unlock the pcm and file so I can continue working on it with my own hptuners I bought. The original tuner moved away.
6kjr I have not been successful in grabbing tunes off locked PCMs, I can only seem to be able to overwrite them. Maybe see if you can find him and he email you the tune and you do it the way it works for me with the tune from the tuner.
Mad Max Garage they did email me the tune file but my hp won't open it. It says it's still locked. I emailed HP and they said the pcm needs to be unlocked with the original hardware to unlock the file.

Is this for the 0411 PCM, has the red and blue 80 pin connectors used like on C5 Corvettes, Camaro, etc
Which board is this ground point ?
The red or blue board and exactly which side of the PCB board and location as I cannot find on a 0411 PCM I am looking at where you show the pin that needs to be grounded ?

FWIW this also works on the P59 PCM's that brick due to improper throttle body settings. Just revived one that's been on my bench for 5yrs that had a TAC/Pedal mismatch and bricked.
I have gotten positive feedback from more then 100 people that have used this method on bricked PCM's(failed flash) in conjunction with my Ls Droid flash app to bring the pcm back to life.
Out of maybe 300 pcm's this has been tested on that were "bricked"; there were something like 5 pcm's that were not able to be brought back this way and of those 5 only ONE was able to be recovered with a BDM...the other pcm was actually dead.
This also works in cases where a pcm "bricked" during a read where the laptop battery died
Truly bricked Pcm's are actually quite rare these days :D

I see this is a older one my question is if the Tuner is locked and the Vehicle is no longer available how can this be done, i pick a older SCT Live wire tuner from a guy down the road from me, he no longer has the truck it was scraped out but he had the SCT Live wire tuner from it that has 5 tunes on it, one is locked 4 tunes left on it, that was for a diesel, how can i unlock it, now my truck is and older truck as well but it's a gas V-10 , thank you in advance

For bricked PCMs, shall we Jump-> read -> write calibration after? Or go ahead and just perform a write entire after jumping with negative?

This is interesting but I want to be able to read and modify the locked tune file. My PCM is not locked. Any ideas?
It’s flashed with uprev.
There is a difference between a locked PCM and a locked file. A locked PCM means someone altered the factory's unlock key making it virtually impossible for someone else to do anything with the PCM....even flashing it back to stock for example isn't possible when a PCM is locked.
If the file is locked, just flash over it and start with a stock file.

By writing a bin file from a non-locked pcm. Its basically cloning the PCM you flash from another PCM's bin file.

@@PeteS160plus so I'm basically pulling another trucks tune from that PCM and copying my existing tune file over the new file? How do I go about doing this without adjusting every little parameter I changed in my existing tune, on to the copied tune.
Get a second PCM, flash your tuner locked bin file onto the pcm. You would want to flash just the OS+Cal data. You would then read the file back and have the same "Tune" but with out the tuner locked seed/key now. You can then take the new "unlocked" version of your file and flash it into your current pcm to remove the tuner lock completely.
It may sound hard but it actually would only take you a couple of minutes to do.
Curious is you used HPtuners to unlock yours?
@@PeteS160plus Not sure if you're still monitoring the comments from this video but can I use LS Droid to clone a non locked PCM .bin onto the tuner locked PCM then put the original tuner locked.bin back on afterwards and not be locked? The tuner locked PCM and the non locked PCM are not the same OS.

Then your clearly doing something wrong and this likely isn't something you should be messing with.
You say it's tuning your Silverado off........... NEVER do ANYTHING programming related to a vehicle while it's running. That should go with out saying........
