Fell in love with Porsche because of a friends Dad's 930 Turbo when I was about 10 years old. The 964 Turbo, the 930 Turbo and the 993 Turbo are my 3 favorites (in that order) of all time.
Will, I read all the comments before I decided to throw my 2 cents in. I have been following you since your BMW days (owner of a 2002 here) and love your content, I get what your doing with this channel and appreciate you being upfront with costs of vehicles and repairs. This is extremely helpful as I hope to get into an aircooled one day, I'm 58 and time is a wasting. So I agree with doing the trans now so you can enjoy the rest of the summer and early fall with this car. and The amber corners and wiper are spot on correct for a 964 here. Also agree with going back to a stock wheel for this. Your idea of 10-15% of purchase to put it right is spot on as I am dealing with this with an m240i I just purchased, wheels, tires, paint correction fluid changes etc. I hate having it tied up in the shop right away but I also bought it site unseen, from a dealer and relied on pictures. I would rather have it sorted out so I can enjoy it than deal with the nagging feeling every time I looked at it or drove it that it was not what i wanted. Also agree with the exhaust sounding too deep and muscle car like, get that straightened out. Looking forward to more content!
Hey there. Thanks for the comment and for watching. Glad my intent for the channel shows. It’s not about “look at me” but instead about sharing the real-world experience of living with these cars. Thanks 🙏🏽
I would also pull it. If you wait more parts will be worn and it will be more expensive to repair. What a stunning 964! Lovely colour on the outside and the interior white/grey looks awesome.
Good to see you back with a new video. Beautiful car and love the exhaust sound. Regarding the transmission, it seems you have the resources to get it properly sorted. Bite the bullet and get it done IMO. You still have two other awesome air-cooled 911s to enjoy while the transmission gets rebuilt in your 964. Look forward to future comparisons!
Very nice looking car. I am familiar with the 964 as I have owned one for 20 years. It looks like your wheels were swapped to the 17" cup wheels (original Porsche or clones) and you have the upgraded leather interior. Re: transmission. If you just had some metal shavings, I would be inclined to just change the gearbox oil and then drive it and look at it again in another year, but if the trans is actually making noise, I would have it pulled and repair it. It's going to be expensive but you've already found a nice example, so you're mostly there.
First, congrats again Will! After seeing the news on IG I was definitely anxious to see this vid. Secondly, love the exhaust note. I myself have a primary and secondary delete so it’s loud. Thirdly, in my own experience I purchased a 964 with 195k knowing I would need an engine build. I knew going into a car like this things will need to be replaced or fixed. As you mentioned things will come up. It’s always a conversation of “what’s next “ on these older cars. So regarding your transmission I would consider your mechanics advice and also see other opinions. You mentioned it was serviced at Rothsport. Maybe reach out to them and ask more about the history. Side note...the lightweight flywheel and chip makes the car so much fun to drive. I know you want to keep it stock but at least get a short shift kit 😁
Thanks for commenting and thanks for tuning in. Yes, you’re right...always something with these cars. So, I’m not really surprised that it needs work. I am surprised it’s the transmission, though. After speaking to the porsche transmission specialist I learned that the LWF can lead to premature wear due to lacking the rubber to absorb the force that the dual mass flywheel has. When I have the trans out I’ll do the clutch and other associated bits so will need to decide whether to go with LWF or dual mass. I put a SW chip in my 993 and left the DMF in it and still got some pep. Maybe I’ll do the same set up in my 964. Thanks again for the support 🙏🏽
Beauty! Congrats. If transmission is making noise and not shifting properly after oil change. Pull it and get it sorted. If not drive on and inspect again with an oil change.
Awesome color combo - really stunning! Agreed on the deferred maintenance and believe that it applies to air or water cooled cars. Amber lights look great - thinking of switching mine back over as well. On the trans, it would bother me knowing it was going on - personally, I’d sort it out just for the peace of mind. Look forward to seeing your next videos!
Thanks for weighing in. I will for sure address the transmission but I am thinking about driving it for a little while longer before “putting it on the shelf” for 30 - 60 days while it gets repaired. Sucks to have to part with my new favorite toy right after I bought it 😄
Pull it. I delayed it and it ended up costing me 30-40% more to fix the trans. That was a 915, but G50 is as far as I understand a more expensive item to sort out. That said, enjoy the nice weather. I cant blame you.
Congrats on the new addition to your garage! Keep pushing out great content. No need to spend a lot of time editing. Your time is better spent enjoying your cars. Thanks for sharing your journeys.
Yes, thinking about going with more raw, unedited video. That said, part of the trap for me is I really enjoy a polished finished product so I put myself in a corner. I procrastinate thinking I really need to invest a lot of time (and then don’t make it a priority) and the channel suffers.
First, nice to see new content! I will go against the masses on the transmission, unless you are hearing the grinding noise yourself and the noise sounds completely ominous and unusual to you. Otherwise, and unless you know that the transmission fluid had been changed very recently, I would refresh the fluid and then drive the car for a while before again checking and changing the fluid. If what is pictured on your drain plug is the result of the car's first transmission fluid change ever, or in at least quite a while, it's likely not all that scary or unusual (again, unless you hear the grinding yourself or are having trouble shifting or staying in gear). Anyway, congrats and good luck with the purchase : )
What a wonderful colour combination 👌. I have to prefer the clear lenses too but that’s probably due to familiarity as a lot of late 964’s here in the UK (that I saw) have the clear ones and were deemed an upgrade from the amber ones back in the day. I would probably remove the rear wiper too just to clean up the lines. Other than that, the car is sweet and I would definitely get the mechanical issues sorted now so that it’s a headache dealt with. Enjoy the car and I look forward to more posted clips 😊
Good to see a new video from you, I would say get it done right! Peace of mind on the road is a priority. You plan to keep this special car for the duration, give it the TLC it deserves so it can give you a rewarding ownership experience. Like you said in your other video, PPI’s aren’t bulletproof, it is unfortunate however that something to this extent was missed, good luck! Look forward to more 964 content, especially comparison videos.
The color combination is actually stunning. Beautiful 964. The exhaust sounds perfect, great stance. Bummer about the transmission. With that many shavings on the drain plug I'd just get it rebuilt. Sucks to have to spend the money but then you know it's new. Also a good time to do a clutch upgrade.
Congrats. I'm glad you are planning to keep it essentially stock. To that end, I would replace the wheels putting real Cup I's (16 inch for normally aspirated 964's). It is easy to achieve the stance you want with Cup I 16's. Good luck with that transmission job.
Sound advice Sir! I recently bought a 1988 930 915 here in the UK. Just spent exactly 10% of the purchase price getting it suitable for a summer’s worth of driving. Keep up the great content!
Thanks for watching. Did you buy it from a private seller or a dealer? I am asking because I am working on another video surrounding the topic of buying private party vs dealer.
@@Rennthusiast Hi, I bought it from a reputable dealer, a Porsche specialist during the Covid lockdown we had in the UK back in December. I bought it unseen but they sent me a video so I was aware of most of the issues. I just went that but further on the restoration as I intend to use it regularly - it’s been a garage Queen for a while. Prices have rocketed for Porsches here in the last 5 months so I can still sell it and turn a healthy profit if I ever wanted.
That’s a beautiful 964 and I love the color too, but I’d pull the transmission and get it fixed before it gets way worse and costs you way more too. Congratulations on the car though, looking forward to more air cooled videos.
Congrats on your purchase. I bought my 964 Targa about 14 years ago. The private seller told me, that he didn't drove the car for several years. I checked the engine and struggled for some time whar to do. After some months I decided to maintain the complete engine. This was the best decision. Since then I had a great time until now. So it was the right decision to put a lot of money and time in repairing it completely, but worth it.
Congrats on the 964 from another Amazon Green owner! Very special color. I’d get that transmission properly fixed right away. That’s what the magnet on the drain plug is for, to let you know something is up before something major happens. Best of luck with the repair and very interested to watch the journey. Maybe if the transmission gets opened up, throw in some short ratio gears 😁
Shortening 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th by removing the large overlap between 4th and 5th (so that the gears are sequential) makes the car feel markedly more perky. We did 2nd 2.400, 3rd 1.733, 4th 1.333 & 5th 0.960 in my 964 C2.
Congratulations on the 964 Amazon Green!! It was a pleasure to be part of the journey, I loved it so much I had to go get my own 964 Amazon Green! So thanks for returning the favor 😂 - LEAVE the wiper alone brother!
Another good video. Love the stance on the 964. Wonder how often it scrapes. Side note, I really look forward to the day that YT content creators realize that everyone knows how to subscribe.
Sort the car immediately. You will possibly save money in the long run and your enjoyment of the car will increase once you know it’s dialed in. It’s a great example and worth preserving. We are curators of these cars and they are meant to be driven and enjoyed. Congratulations on your new 964!
Hi. What a beautiful 964. Leave it as it is. Even the rear wiper. The only thing i would change i would buy the coloured Hub cap from the Jubi. And look into the Gearbox. Greetings from Germany.
I would go ahead and get the transmission sorted. Also, I would have to delete the rear wiper. It makes sense and is functional for rainy areas like the Pacific NW but ruins the silhouette of the car. The last thing I would do is put in the same radio unit that you put in your 993 and maybe a phone mount.
Glad you're back. Your content has been missed. I'd pull it and get it right. Too nice of a 911 to be driving waiting on the trans to fail. And, I would keep the wiper. If I were config a new one, I'd think about it....but it's there now....so I'd keep it.
Beautiful spec. Glad to see 964's really getting the respect they deserve over the last few years. Chances are it is a pretty minor issue with the trans that could turn into a much more expensive issue if you allow it to go "boom". I would pull it and sort it out now. When I lived in LA there were a dozen good shops that could do a rebuild fairly quickly and now that I live in Nashville I still have at least 2 shops that I would trust with a job like this. I would shop around a little bit more because you shouldn't have to ship off the trans for a simple rebuild.
Great video. Watching this as a parallel of what I’m going thru myself. Picked up a supposedly level1 964 around the same time as you from supposedly the top seller, and going through the pain process of sorting it out. It will take me more time, as I’m also having weird noise issues. After spending considerable time & $$$ to get this car I’d want to take care of all the issues and start enjoy driving it worry free. It will take time, parts are difficult to find, and top Porsche specialist are super busy. That is why it will be specially rewarding and satisfying when I get it to the condition I want. Looking forward to ur next vid!
The exhaust note is sweeeeet! Of course spinning it up in your neighborhood may not make for happy neighbors but it does sound awesome. The only thoughts to it may be if it carries a "drone" into the cab for longer runs at highway speeds. Overall it's a very nice find indeed!
i had the 3.3 turbo in that exact same color configuration. very nice. i had a same or similar noise after i mistakenly asked the shop to change the gear oil. they did not know to use a special gear oil for that car and the trouble ensued. it was months before they figured it out. perhaps this is what ails your 964
Since the shavings are stuck on the magnetic drain plug, there’s a good chance you have a worn bearing (needle bearing) a little early for transmission problems, if you intend of driving the car have the tranny fixed, at same time check out the engine for leaks or upcoming leaks, if your not………….😉 add an other page to your daily planer. Love your Porsches
Congratulations Will! I also have an Amazon green 964 from 1991. Completely stock with about 100 000 miles. Really looking forward to your coming videos on the 964. Gotta go, time to take it for a spin before the rain sweeps in.
Beautiful... speechless. As with all Porsche's with age, its a money pit of sorts to bring it to our level Will. The money spent will come back to you if you intend on keeping this gem. Filings in the oil is a bad thing, but not unrepairable. This baby has a lot going for it. I would do the repairs hopefully minor, as funds become available, Charles is your man. They are hard to come by... One of every year, ambitious, enjoy..
Man this baby is still in very good shape. Don’t know about the history of it but the chassis and color looks new. I agree with you keep it as is, do n to change anything. I love it as is, classic. Let me know if you want to sell it one day. Cheers!
Love the 964. Fully agree on going in knowing there will be extra cost to buying old Pcars or F cars. Since I am OCD on all my rides, if you have the funds I would get everything done now before you are stuck somewhere on a road trip in the future. Just my two cents.
Agree with the other posters. Pull the transmission now. Why delay the inevitable and waste any great miles listening to it versus just loving the car. I also pulled the rear wiper on my 92. Much cleaner. I doubt you’ll see much rain but a coat of RainX works wonders today.
As an 964 owner for the past 20 years, don’t wait for it to break. I tracked my car then turned into a full blown race car. I broke one of my shifter rods and rebuilt my transmission. I upgraded to steel synchros (all gears). My car is now a street car and I could drive it every day. Good luck and enjoy the ride
The car appears in the video to be a beautiful, almost a petrol, blue. The sequence beginning at 5:20 shows the green colour and it looks wonderful. Get the mechanics sorted out before you are stranded on the side of the road with a total failure. I love and envy your project of having one of each air-cooled 911s.
i love that they call it green and it’s actually blue. that’s interesting to me. there’s a trucking company where i live called “Yellow Trucking” and all of their trucks are orange. quirky af.
Preventative maintenance is always the correct answer. If you know a problem is starting take care of it right away. *This is coming from a ferrari owner with ptsd and is looking to get into porsches now though 😉
Beautiful 964 my favorite Porsche. Fix all that is wrong with it now if it’s a keeper. Then go out and enjoy it. They are sooo fun to drive and never gets boring. Nice buy!!! True always put a set amount after buying one of these 964s and truly have the car looked over carefully. The great thing is there’s no loss on these cars the value on them are high so it’s like an investment, in my opinion they are worth every bit of money put into them. Enjoy 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Agree with all your points. Only bummer is the downtime while the transmission will be out of the car but will be worth it once it’s all done. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
@@Rennthusiast I hear you but it would be well worth the wait and worth it at the end when you get to drive it as much as you want, driving these 964s never gets boring and gives a satisfying feeling that never gets old. I hope you do keep it for many years to come and enjoy it.😎👍🏻
I had that same car sold in early 2013 for $22,000. Car was salvage and 64,000 miles. Everyone is the US refused a salvage 964 so the car went to Europe. I had may be 30 964's before that. The market was crap on the cars before Singer. I've always appreciated a nice 964 but not a crappy one. -------Have the Ring and Pinion looked at, my 92 needed the Locking Diff Rebuilt. You Definitely have some issue. Patrick Motorsports can look at it$$$
Hey, thanks for the feedback. I usually have a mic with a wind reducer (can’t remember what it’s called) on me when doing that style of vid which cleans it up quite a bit. In this case I was rushed so used the iPhone mic. No doubt, not as good. Already planning my next vid so will be sure to hook up a better audio situation.
new sub here :) sorry to hear about the trans but good luck getting it fixed, gorgeous car inside and out nonetheless. I can’t get over the interior. really wouldn’t change a thing aside from maybe a rear wiper delete. amazing collection and looking forward to more content! side note-let me know if you’d be interested in any art/graphic design work!
I've been waiting on this video for so long! Thank you for posting it. I love your channel! I would never just drive it until something really bad happens. I would change the transmission if able. But I'm a former 996 owner, so I might be a little more fearful of catastrophic damage than an air-cooled owner. If you're planning on changing the transmission, my vote is to upgrade to the 993 6-speed. It's a bolt-on, from what I've heard.
I agree that your new (to you) 964 is beautiful. I suggest taking care of the issue now as opposed to waiting for it to get worse. I’m a firm believer that a car like that should be free of a transmission problem.
Re transmission, I would not be happy with the guy who checked it out for you! Love the 964, congrats - (exhaust note a bit heavy - doesn’t sound true Porsche). Glad to see some content back 👍
Hi Will, I'll be on the hunt for a Targa version of this car in the near future. Too tall for a coupe... Love the color combo. Sorry to hear about the tranny, definitely fix that before you move on to cosmetics. Lovely car. Congratultations!
Love your videos, Thanks for the content! Congratulations with your new Car! Get it fixed right away and give yourself a peace of mind. I'm saving to get my hands on one of those :D
Great looking car! Glad to see you back with new content. If it were me I would have the transmission sorted out rather than just driving it and waiting for something to happen. It can drive you crazy and make it difficult to enjoy if you think something could fail at any moment.
Great looking car, definitely get the trans inspected, luv the exhaust, maybe it’s the video but the wheels look really flat, polished or darker might make the paint pop more, just my dumb 2 cents, can’t wait for the comparison vid, thanks
Will - great work on the channel. 964 is my fav - the bridge between the old world and the new. Great color. I tend to dig originality - let the car speak its personality - so I love the amber corners and rear wiper. The exhaust does sound really good but seems a little loud for long journeys. Up to you!! Bummer about the gearbox. You could look at it two ways - one, keep driving it until it grenades - Use Up the entire first transmission, so to speak. But I think that’s a false economy - if it grenades, likely more parts will have to be replaced in the rebuild. Beyond that, if you’re like me, it will be in the back of your head potentially keeping you from enjoying the car on those perfect sunny days. Time is the asset. You have your other 911s to enjoy this summer. Get er fixed then let er rip next year - it will feel that much better! And if you get right on it, maybe you’ll have it back in time for some nice late summer/early Fall drives!
Hi Jeff. Thanks for commenting. The transmission repair is not a matter of IF but WHEN, but what you’re alluding to is what’s bothering me the most...the downtime. You hate to lose access to the new toy right after you buy it, you know what I mean? Overall, bad luck given all the due diligence I did on the car but this 964 is an absolute treasure so it will be totally worth the money and pain in terms of the joy it will bring. Thanks for watching and hope you’ll stay tuned!
@@Rennthusiast 100%. I would imagine the disappoint is magnified when you’re trying to get more content for the channel! Anything can be fixed with enough $$$$$ applied, so if you’re down for the potential catastrophic failure and tow on the car’s schedule rather than your own, at the end of the day it’s your car and I’m sure you’ll do what needs to be done! Maybe you’ll get lucky and it’ll last through the season. Fingers crossed. Congrats on the expanding collection. Enjoy and take care!
The channel is about the realities of air cooled ownership: the great and the not-so-great. So, this will get documented for the viewers regardless. Thanks.
Excellent purchase - congratulations! As a 964 owner, I know that the KW variant 3 suspension is a game changer on 964s. What exhaust is that? I don’t think I’ve heard that sound before. Would you please talk a little more about the mod to the steering? I know digging into the gearbox hurts financially; but it’s only going to get worse (and more expensive to fix). I don’t know anyone else who has both a 964 & a 993. Different mechanics I talk with say different things about the two models, I’d really be curious for your thoughts on the driving experience between the two.
I tend to agree with you on the exhaust note. It’s a simple cat delete, I believe. I prefer my 993 fister stage 3 muffler but do like that the 964 has a tone that is different from the 993 and the custom set up on my 3.2. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
GT3 is cool no doubt...drove a newer one recently (991.2, maybe?) but there’s no substitute for the character, soul and experience of air cooled. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
Just bought my 1st 911. As seen in photo. Looking forward to Adventures, Events and Advice!! Live in the 1st Settlers Region New to the Area and to PCA. Hit me up with events and hang outs.
Great looking 964 , shame about the transmission. The problem is that its a transaxle and you gamble on which part is breaking up or wearing! if its the diff {I had the planetary gears break up in one and the rest of the box wasn't pretty!!!] then they are larger gears and meaning larger fragments breaking off and then free to smash up the smaller gears, which incidentally cost a fortune each! so your gamble! If it were me I'd have the gearbox rebuilt and have limited slip diff added while your in there. This will improve the drivability and grip of the car no end. Good luck and hope not to many gears are damaged once you get in there.
Thank you. The car has LSD and one of the mechanics who looked at the car felt like perhaps the issue lies with the differential. I’m gonna have the trans dropped and sent out ASAP. Thanks.
Since you asked...not a fan of the loud exhaust. Put the cat back in and go back to stock. And...fix that glove box door - it's really bugging me! As to the trans, pull it and make the repairs so that you can drive trouble free (and fear free). It's going to have to be done before you can ever sell the car so you might as well be the one who gets to enjoy a newly built trans!
Can't agree more that you have to set aside at least 10% plus to sort out the car to your own taste. I have personal experience of the spending. Don't expect these classic to be perfect on day one.
Exactly. I do feel that a transmission rebuild is a bit excessive compared to what it’s cost to get my other 2 cars sorted but I really don’t have room to complain bc this is what air cooled ownership looks like...and it’s worth it 😄
Beautiful 964. I would perhaps try and find OEM Cup Wheels. I find these replicas are a bit too big and make them look aftermarket. I think some 17s would look more period correct.
Bought a 1992 964 w 100k miles on it 15 years ago. No regrets. Being a German import to the UK and not a CA car it will need a respray w some rust fixing. Mechanically these cars are sound. Mine got the AWD system which has been reliable. Shame and surprised to hear about your potential gear box problem. Exhaust note opinion ? It comes down to A. the annoying the neighbour factor. B. Is it enjoyable to cruise at 65 mph on the freeway for a couple of hours.
Hi and thanks for commenting. No drone and my neighbors are used to this with my other cars. That said it’s just about being respectful and not revving, etc. Thanks for watching.
Need to get the air cooled collection rounded out first but the 996’s are definitely still analog so there will be a place for it in the garage (maybe by the time I’m 60?) lol

Green??? I see midnight blue!!! Car looks immaculate!!
Haha yes many say Porsche should have named it Amazon Blue
These cars are rewarding in so many ways that it only makes sense to put the money into making them mechanically sound.
Thanks! 🙏🏽
Sort the car immediately. You will possibly save money in the long run and your enjoyment of the car will increase once you know it’s dialed in. It’s a great example and worth preserving. We are curators of these cars and they are meant to be driven and enjoyed. Congratulations on your new 964!
Couldn’t agree more RE: curators and thanks for watching!
one of the best Porsche colors out there but then again im a bit biased. I've been on a 5+ year restoration and 99% done just in time for summer :)
Hi. What a beautiful 964. Leave it as it is. Even the rear wiper. The only thing i would change i would buy the coloured Hub cap from the Jubi. And look into the Gearbox. Greetings from Germany.
Oh Bro... Clear Corners look WAY better... Those are eyesores on that beautiful car you bought. Exhaust sounds great.
Amazon green is my dream color! I drive myself an Ocean blue 996.
Beautiful car! Since you asked: 1) clear lenses; 2) delete the rear wiper. 3) get the transmission fixed NOW. Love the journey you're on. Well done!
Service the gearbox, exhaust note, color are sweet!! Welcome back to the Matrix!!
Love these cars, mine is a C2 in Gran prix white and black leather Manual. Sunroof delete, rare beast. Enjoy .....lovely colour too that green .....
Way to go. I’m so jealous - the 964 is seriously one of my all time favorites. Post more vids on this one! 👏🏻👏🏻
The exhaust note is sweeeeet! Of course spinning it up in your neighborhood may not make for happy neighbors but it does sound awesome. The only thoughts to it may be if it carries a "drone" into the cab for longer runs at highway speeds. Overall it's a very nice find indeed!
i had the 3.3 turbo in that exact same color configuration. very nice. i had a same or similar noise after i mistakenly asked the shop to change the gear oil. they did not know to use a special gear oil for that car and the trouble ensued. it was months before they figured it out. perhaps this is what ails your 964
Stunning 964! Congrats on the purchase. Can't wait to see more videos about it.
Beautiful colour 964 are my favourite of all the 911 versions. The shape just seems so balanced.
Thanks. Gonna do this right. Sending the transmission off next week and we are gonna go through the engine also.
Congratulations Will! I also have an Amazon green 964 from 1991. Completely stock with about 100 000 miles. Really looking forward to your coming videos on the 964. Gotta go, time to take it for a spin before the rain sweeps in.
Oh man! Amazon green brothers. Thanks for watching. 🙏🏽
Exhaust sounds amazing!
I agree with David - I had steel synchros put in my gearbox when we re-geared it - good thing to do ‘while you’re in there’.
The car appears in the video to be a beautiful, almost a petrol, blue. The sequence beginning at 5:20 shows the green colour and it looks wonderful. Get the mechanics sorted out before you are stranded on the side of the road with a total failure. I love and envy your project of having one of each air-cooled 911s.
i love that they call it green and it’s actually blue. that’s interesting to me. there’s a trucking company where i live called “Yellow Trucking” and all of their trucks are orange. quirky af.
Keep the rear wipers ,looks great !!!! Take out the trany and check it. I think its a ball bearing !!!!!
Beautiful car - exhaust note is awesome. I’m an aftermarket wheel fan - but other than that, I don’t think I’d change anything either.
Preventative maintenance is always the correct answer. If you know a problem is starting take care of it right away.
*This is coming from a ferrari owner with ptsd and is looking to get into porsches now though 😉
Hahaha that’s good stuff
I’m moving forward with a rebuild
Patrick Motorsports can look at it$$$
I agree with the consensus; fix it now. Great-looking 964. Congratulations!
Congrats on the new 911. Piece of advice: don't record your audio outside. Too much wind and background noise. Lay it down in post. Waaay cleaner.
Absolutely stunning car. Great video and thanks for sharing, Will!
I am so jealous! The color and the 964 in general are both ace!
Man that’s one beautiful car. What a life ✌️🙏
I agree that your new (to you) 964 is beautiful. I suggest taking care of the issue now as opposed to waiting for it to get worse. I’m a firm believer that a car like that should be free of a transmission problem.
We are dropping the transmission hopefully Friday to ship it off. Not ideal but yes, needs to be right.
@@Rennthusiast I’ve been in my 993 for 18 years now and I used to see 964’s everywhere. Now, they are a rare sight.
That’s part of the reason I love mine...along with the color combo 😄
Dude that color combo, WOW. Congrats!
Good for the 964 C-2 Manual and look forward to clues working on mine...
Re transmission, I would not be happy with the guy who checked it out for you! Love the 964, congrats - (exhaust note a bit heavy - doesn’t sound true Porsche). Glad to see some content back 👍
Sounds better
Well worth the wait. The 964 is beautiful. I regret selling my 89 964 C4.
Hi Will, I'll be on the hunt for a Targa version of this car in the near future. Too tall for a coupe... Love the color combo. Sorry to hear about the tranny, definitely fix that before you move on to cosmetics. Lovely car. Congratultations!
Salivating over the color combinations
Love your videos, Thanks for the content! Congratulations with your new Car! Get it fixed right away and give yourself a peace of mind. I'm saving to get my hands on one of those :D
Great looking car! Glad to see you back with new content. If it were me I would have the transmission sorted out rather than just driving it and waiting for something to happen. It can drive you crazy and make it difficult to enjoy if you think something could fail at any moment.
Absolutely get the transmission rebuilt. You really want reliability and original performance.
Nice colour choice👍🏻guards red suits the G-body but 911’s look so much classier in rarer colours -JMO!
Thanks.
Lovely car, and colour suits well. Best air cooled 911 IMO.
I like the exhaust note!
Very nice 964, congrats!! I'm a big fan of the exterior color but the exhaust note sounds like an American muscle car, not what I would have.
I tend to agree with you on the exhaust note. It’s a simple cat delete, I believe. I prefer my 993 fister stage 3 muffler but do like that the 964 has a tone that is different from the 993 and the custom set up on my 3.2. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
Such a good looking car. Amazon Green is my favorite 964 color.
Awesome ride man, great color! Been thinking about a 964 myself but not ready to sell my GT3 😆
GT3 is cool no doubt...drove a newer one recently (991.2, maybe?) but there’s no substitute for the character, soul and experience of air cooled.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
In 2015 I bought a 92 C2 manual Nachtblau over linen kept it for two years...wish I still had it.
I love the rear wiper look, so I kept it on my 993
Miss the 964. My favorite generation
Just bought my 1st 911. As seen in photo. Looking forward to Adventures, Events and Advice!!
Live in the 1st Settlers Region New to the Area and to PCA. Hit me up with events and hang outs.
I would go through it A to Z to make sure it's an enjoyable ride, driving it until it breaks is never the best option.
Thanks.
Amber all the way. Kinda needs that little bit of colour. Great car bud, congrats 👍🏼
Sort the transmission ASAP.
Definitely amber lenses. I switched mine on my '77 S which at the time was considered Euro spec.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes on the glovebox door. And yes to the trans. The question is now or in a couple of months.
Looks great I had a Porsche 968 that color. Enjoy!
Can't agree more that you have to set aside at least 10% plus to sort out the car to your own taste. I have personal experience of the spending. Don't expect these classic to be perfect on day one.
Exactly. I do feel that a transmission rebuild is a bit excessive compared to what it’s cost to get my other 2 cars sorted but I really don’t have room to complain bc this is what air cooled ownership looks like...and it’s worth it 😄
Beautiful car, congratulations. Can’t believe it’s green.
Great spec 👍 I would do the work it needs now before anything more expensive happens.
Absolutely beautiful. Congrats!
Definitely needs full trans rebuild. Don't wait.
Good choice going back to the amber.
You really need an early build 996 to round out the collection… something unique like an aerokit car or a fun color
Need to get the air cooled collection rounded out first but the 996’s are definitely still analog so there will be a place for it in the garage (maybe by the time I’m 60?) lol
@rennthusiast Hahah! I respect that as you are a total air cooled guy. At your current rate it seems you will be rounding that collection out soon!
We’ll see. I feel like each new acquisition requires a year to sort, enjoy and really get it to fit me like a glove.
@@Rennthusiast This is very true
