- Sometimes all you need is a sponge when painting your Warhammer Miniatures. Goes well on DnD, Star Wars and all other miniatures. Or this Sons of Horus 30k Mini.

Genius.
How'd you keep the sponge wet? My paint dries on it within seconds.
Make sure you first dip your sponge in water and rinse it with your fingers. It keeps it wet while you paint.
YO.... ENOUGH OF THE NURGLE SLANDER.
20 MINUTES?!?!?!
Bro thats decent keep up the uploads very helpful
Just blew my mind
Im sry to ask but what are u using when u covering ur miniature full of red ? And are u usung to remove some of the red u paint before ??
Thx :)
It's streaking grime from AK. Then removing it with Odourless Thinner from AK. Cheers!
Twenty minutes for you an entire astartes lifetime for me to be at least that good
20 minutes... I can barely paint a genestealer in an hour
Slap chop no slap, call it chop chop
Chop chop, dice dice and throw in some spice, stir for 20 minuts 😄
The mighty sponge - 😂😂😂, thank you for this hilarious moment.
And legit works
Cheers!
Ain’t no way it’s that freaking easy 😱
for added immersion *do* use the old sponge for your deathguard army
Do you varnish or seal it before putting on the grime?
Damn!!
I am impressed.
not sure what it is but this just fits the heresy units PERFECTLY i cant picture modern space marines, terminators etc like this especially not primaris but this looks amazing on heresy marines, if i ever start a heresy army i know how im painting it
Cheers mate!
Amazing 😮
Thanks!
Could I use typhus corrosion to get the same result ? And what’s the liquid you’re applying after the corrosion ?
I did this last year on a rubric marine and it is the best looking model in my army.
Didn’t though of this
Great technique , you can do the same with brushes
What paint is that? Is it just sons of horus green?
This is awesome lol
cheers!
Wow
Drysponge Paintpants! Who paints miniatures under the sea? DRYSPONGE PAINTPANTS! Whose soul was sold to Nurgle with glee? DRYSPONGE PAINTPANTS!
5 more to go . Horde armys 😑
Best place to get the sponge you're using?
Not sure, I found mine at a general art store
Oh badas. I love that last step, I didn't know you could do that. Awesome videos man.
Cheers!
I use this to add different colors of browns and oranges for rust. It looks nice and chunky like picking up a piece of metal has been pitting
Doing the grime all over makes the armor look like it’s been stored in bad conditions but putting it on knees elbows or hands feet give it the used feel rather than all over it looks amazing just my comment represents idly u like to have micro stories to the model mainly for characters
The sponge is great. I recently found out about it's uses beyond the sink and it has taken my painting game to another level
that is a very effective method for a dirty looking model without a giant time sink. 10/10 If I did a chaos set I'd try this method.
I also love uing pick foam from my army carrying bag. Makes a great songe and a fresh piece is always clean
well met...i hope you drilled those barrels lol
Shhhh! xD
NOICE! Maybe not perfect for certain colours or effects, but a brilliant speed method.
I'll have to see if it works for my HH Alpha Legion.❤❤❤
And here is me getting my first models and stressing about getting my airbrush set up right for a base coat 😂
Go for 30-40 psi, use 0.5 - 0.7 mm needle if you can. Make sure you use plenty of water to thin the paint . Pull back a tiny amount on the trigger each time while holding it down for constant airflow. Practice on a plastic bottle, if you can get a nice even coat onto it, you can move onto the models. Good luck.
@AnotherDayMiniatures thanks man I appreciate that a hell of a lot
Most of the time airbrushes are just expensive brushes are king
Its LITERALLY as easy as it looks.
A little much grime for my liking but was very impressed nonetheless. I suppose a green glaze could also be used to bring the colours together if a clean look was desired
Omg this is genius
Who is warlord purple by? This looks sick AF and no airbrush is a major bonus for us simple folk
It's Vallejo Game Color paint color. Cheers!
The reddish streaking grime works sooooo well with the green armor. Great job
It really does, thanks!
What is the Gold paint used here? It looks amazing
GSW Antique gold + Metal color gold
What gold paint is that!
GSW Antique Gold Pigment + Vallejo Metal Color Gold
Sick dude Ima try this, what paints did you use for this? I’ve been waiting SOH but can never get the colour I want and this is perfect!
Cheers! Honestly had the same issue, I ended up spending a while just mixing my own colors. No idea what the mixes were, it's been a while now.
Spung
😄🤘
20 mins.... 😮😮😮😮😮😮
:)
Looks incredible!!! What song is in the background?
Thank you. Not sure about the song, it's been a while since I made the short.
Bähm 🤘🏻⚡️🤘🏻
Is the "streaky grime" just a brown oil wash?
It's very similar, it's enamel base paint. It dries much faster. You're able to paint over it within 30 minutes.
Man, i use paint pens, but this... this is fucking genius
Ahhh
Spongeacus.
unless you are painting nurgle. in which case get the dirtiest sponge
Three months late, but this is giving me inspiration for my first shot at a sizeable army (death guard)
Hell ye mate! 🤘
Which gold paint is used? That stuff you are using covers amazingly well. Great job BTW.
Cheers! It's Green Stuff World antique gold pigment mixed with Vallejo metal color gold.
@@AnotherDayMiniatures The Vincey V special i like it
The Warmaster Approves! A great way to get more troops in the field faster.
Nice job
Thanks!
Crickets fornicating with rotting pieces of pork in my rusty garbage disposal.
Hold up... 20 MINUTES?!
😀
badass.
If you’re painting death guard you might want to use the sponge that was blessed by Nurgle lol.
WOW, amazing steps to ad to the community🎉😊
p good.
damn that is actually a really good hack
Guh sons of horus terminators are black bit green!
Ohh this dude wasn't a Justarians
Thank you so much for this, i will take it to good use on my very third mini ever
😃🤘 Hell ye
Spoiled it with that brown you laid over the whole thing
🤔
*twenty min* what da fak
I love using sponges in my work. Amazing work brotha. You inspired me to try new things painting watching your videos. I love the color blends
Thank you so much!
@@AnotherDayMiniatures Thank you for making content
@@PoeticTea_ 😃
What sort of paints are you using with the sponge? With acrylics like vallejo and citadel i found streaking grime damages the underlying paint
Vallejo and AK. Never really had streaking grime damage the paint before personally.
airbrush look is so ass, and the amount of work required to hide it is more than if you just painted it normally. I like albeit not new ideas like this one because it gives newer painters a better look for less effort using stuff they have at home.
No expensive airbrush, no diy set up to clean out air of particles, no time consuming clean up.
Just fun.
Is there any options to have ± same results without using streaking grime?
Not that i'm aware of, beside oil paints which are more difficult to use.
i absolutely love that effect!!!
:D
Dang. That's pretty talented. I'll get into tabletop and do this cool stuff one day. It's been MtG for about 8 years for me.
It's honestly fantastic, try dipping your toes into it with one of the cheaper starter packs.
will be perfect for the epic40k
That is a impressive display of painting
Thank you!
Love seeing someone do things the "wrong" way and get great results. The mini painting hobby often makes things way too difficult by "going by the book". Or gets things wrong, like 99% of flame swords I've seen.
Cheers! 😄
20 minutes....wow
What is that "streaking grind" ? Looks nice!
AK Streaking Grime its an enamel paint
So you are using an enamel thinner to clean it up with a qtip? That’s it? Looks great! What enamel thinner?
The sponge is my go-to when it comes to painting a galvanised metal effect.
"Sometimes the airbrush is not the only tool for the job" bro I've got 2 brushes, the big brush and the not as big as the big brush brush 😭
I painted my favorite dreadnought and captain while the brushes holded point for 1second
@@konradtarasek5514 I do a single stroke of paint on my model and my brush proceeds to have a stroke as well
@@brian2888ong😂
@@brian2888you are probably using the wrong type of brush then, this is what happens when you use a water colour brush with acrylic paint
@@morthaug That was likely the case, bought a new kit of brush and the tips of the brushes hold point now
i would totally do this, i want to try airbrushing but for the moment something a little easier and less space consuming would be ideal.
It's surprisingly fun to do on large models like space marines. Definitely careful starting with smaller things, it's a bit more difficult.
Better than my 6hours
😅 Only recently found a picture of the first space marine that took me like 4+ hours to paint and it might honestly be a runner up for worst mini ever painted.
Sir that is by far and away tbe best intro to a short 30k video I have ever seen!

@@AnotherDayMiniatures nothing like it. Nothing will ever match the boys from the dwarf for me...
epic and what is the music?
Thanks and it's Karl Casey song, no clue which I'm afraid. Been months since that short.
I wanna an you so a forest green space marine with red highlights ?
If you want a more airbrush kind of style, use a pointed makeup sponge.
In general makeup stuff is underrated in model building tbh
@@ajoshdoingthings541 Of course they are. Makeup is just model painting on the face.
Wow that is exceptional coloring and a simple technique
Cheers mate!
What is the name of this specific model
cataphractii terminator
Dudes got skills 😮
Thanks dude 🙂
What is the "streak & grind" & what is the "thinner"? Nub to painting but this looks like a game changer
czcams.com/video/Blxg4OZrUS8/video.htmlfeature=shared 7:21 I show and explain how it works. Cheers!
H….Horus? Horus!? HORUSSSSSSSS!!!!
Can someone settle a disagreement, is that green or grey? 😂
I can say for a fact there was never any grey used on that model :)
@@AnotherDayMiniatures fek, haha 🤣 8 hate being colour blind lol
@@Inquisitorrandom 😅
Wow 👌
😄
Bro how. There's always not enough paint or too much on my sponge
It's trial and error, make sure to work with a damp sponge and not keep it dry.
Honestly, I like these videos because it proves that you do not need an airbrush to paint. Minis honestly I have access and I could get airbrushes fairly easily. However, I kind of don't just out of spite of people who say you kind of need them for like vehicles and stuff
What gold paint did you use for this? Seems to have great coverage
Its Metal Color Gold + GSW Antique Gold
