    Why Sub ? I'm all about painting miniatures for the epic battles of Warhammer 40k, and Kill Team, with a focus on lore-rich conversions and kitbashes. But that's not all - In the future I will delve into other realms like Star Wars Legion, Shatterpoint and Dungeons and Dragons. I saw this and thought what an incredible bashed Archon. Lots of players just go with what is offered which is easier but dull. Loved what you've done, and I may copy a few things. Instantly subscibed, would love to see what you do with the rest of that box. Do your thing man, you got me.

    Super sick! Yeah youve gotta do some work to make the archon your own, I did some swapping to make mine a female, using the regular base and legs with some scourge bits and a spear from the dire avengers kit. Kitbashing is a skill youve gotta learn for drukhari, and even aeldari!

    • @AnotherDayMiniatures
      @AnotherDayMiniatures  Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks! That sounds awesome, I was planning to convert the other female vampire in the kit but realized she already looks perfect as Lelith Hesperax with her two daggers and crazy hair. I feel like Drukhari are on the table as one of the next factions to get a full refresh.

  • @bfournie1

    Awesome!. I have small dark eldar force as well. I bought it a while back (maybe 10 years ao) and already at that time the model for HQ were not great. I used a dark elf lord and changed his shield for a gun. It looked great.

    • @AnotherDayMiniatures
      @AnotherDayMiniatures  Před 6 měsíci

      Yea, I'm honestly a bit surprised they haven't released a few updated HQs. Ironically the old finecast Archon actually looked better than the current one in the box. The dark elfs did have really awesome models, hope they make a comeback with the old world re-release.

    Looks great! Only critique is that the black primed base model was pretty difficult to see while you were doing the conversion.
    As far as headswaps go...these days I just default to pinning them 😅 frequently this is faster than futzing with it while waiting for glue to set would be.

    • @AnotherDayMiniatures
      @AnotherDayMiniatures  Před 6 měsíci

      Honestly not sure why he ended up being so dark. Usually that primer is very glossy and reflective 😅
      I've seen pinning, but yet to get into it myself. I need to get a pack of paperclips and give it a go sometime.

    came for the conversion, stayed for the amazing color scheme! Do you mind sharing the exact recipe for the black wash? I thought using a black enamel/oil wash might also do the trick and you could remove it from the highlights, thus saving some time.

      Thanks mate, really great hearing that! Ye absolutely its grim black paint with liquitex flow aid. I show the making process in my latest video, ill time stamp it (czcams.com/video/e4PRKcbqgts/video.htmlfeature=shared&t=323 ) Just be sure to use a wet brush as a little water helps with it. I used to use a lot of enamels, but honestly this stuff has been working so great and doesn't leave behind any qtip hairs or strange smell. For some projects streaking grime is still my go to.

    That green looks amazing but I don't have access to an airbrush. How would you approach this using traditional base coats/shades and highlighting?

    • @AnotherDayMiniatures
      @AnotherDayMiniatures  Před 6 měsíci

      Thank you! It depends on the model, if you're working on a big space marine sponging would do the trick.
      However on a small model like this, I would either glaze or dry brush in thin layers up to emerald. Starting with Dark Sea Blue and mixing the paints between each layer. Afterwards the steps should be the same.

    first time i've seen eyes done so well with only two colors what is the airbrush and what are the settings/paint to thinner ratio?

    • @AnotherDayMiniatures
      @AnotherDayMiniatures  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks! It's a benefit of using an acrylic ink, it's very saturated while also transparent, creating a smooth gradient. I use a cheap 10$ airbrush, 0.5mm needle and 35psi. When it comes to thinning with inks, they are typically ready to use straight from the bottle. For thinning regular paint, I simply use water, aiming for a 50/50 ratio, though sometimes I add a bit more water.

    how much did you thin each of these paints when airbrushing

    • @AnotherDayMiniatures
      @AnotherDayMiniatures  Před měsícem

      I just eye it 😅. If I see it coming out not cleanly enough, I add more water. Too thin and add a bit of paint. I will say, it's hard to over thin paint; just need to pull back a tiny amount, and do it in bursts. I never try to have a constant flow of paint.
