- In this video, I cover how to paint a sandstone finish on a sculpted ruins base from Unreal Wargaming Studios. I'm not affiliated with them I just like their stuff.

Looking specifically for limestone recipes but I think this is gonna get me there
Glad you like it
Lovely tutorial mate! Loving the colour variations you added in. They really make the world of difference! New sub here here can't wait to learn more from you! :)
Thank you so much for the kind words. This particular video has been surprisingly popular and glad it helped you out
This triggered my asmr big time, smooth voice and the rain in the background
I noticed a lot of videos tended to shout and be noisy about tutorials so i decided to be the opposite and talk much more calmly!
That pigment wash is a great idea
Thanks. Pigments are super versatile tools
If you haven't tried it before I really like Golden SoFlat black for base rims. It is so smooth and the finish when it dries is amazing. Also, it comes in a larger container than most mini paints. Super high quality for a cheaper price per milliliter.
I will have a look. Looks a little awkward to get in the uk from a quick google though
What a smooth lovely blend. I do really enjoy using reds and pinks as undertones for yellows, the shadows are so warm and cozy.
Interesting use of pigment for a wash, do you always use it with water as a pigment fixer? I use isopropanol myself and was wondering if there was any difference.
Warm and cosy is kind of the feel I was going for haha! I grew up in Oxford so was surround by lots of ornate stone buildings. I always use water. The nice thing about water is you can reactivate it. So if you think you've gone too extreme you can dial it back by wetting it. I haven't had issues with the pigment having fixing issues when used in this manner, due to the large amount of water to pigment it almost becomes a stain in the layers of paint. If you move your models a lot isopropanol can be a safe bet. mine sit in a cabinet and brought out for games and haven't run into any trouble. Might be something to experiment with :)
Amazing
Amazing!!!
Thank you for the kind comment :D
You will trash your small pointed brushes using them for undercoating like that, use a large flat. The finish will also be more even.
The basecoat was applied with a five brushes for £1 special. I was absolutely not worried about that brush. Literally a cheapo 20p brush.
I switched to a rosemary and co series 33 for the feathering and a cheap drybrush for the drybrushing.
Seems like they dont make that weathering powder anymore. What is an alternative?
Medium rust from mig might be a good shout. It’s any sort of medium orangey brown tone rust pigment will do the trick
Any alternatives for Indian shadow? Any from vallejo?
Vallejo model colour cavalry brown is a pretty close match. Any similar red brown tone will work though :)
@@mugsofdoomminiswill literally use this Exact way to base my teal/red sisters
Very chill nice stuff
Glad you liked it :)
