Thanks for paying homage to this iconic movie. Love your analytical take on it. Saw it as a teenager in '75 in Florida while on a family vacation. My brothers and I were avid swimmers but we avoided the ocean water and hotel pool for the next few days. It never really loses it's grip on you.
I grew up in Hollywood Florida when the movie came out and I surfed and was at the beach all the time but after the movie no way I was going to even go water skiing and we lived on a lake so I grew up on water but I am not going back in the ocean. I will go fishing in my son’s boat but we fish lakes everywhere.
JAWS traumatized my generation. I was a kid living in Cape Cod and refused to go into the water for a couple of years. The movie should of been Rated R. I remember my Dad kept saying that there were no great white sharks in Cape Cod. Back in the 70s there was a small seal colony on the little island off Provincetown. Now- the seal population has exploded, great whites are numerous and can be seen hunting seals off many Cape Cod beaches. Several months ago- Orcas were spotted in Cape Cod Bay.
It's crazy the amount of Whites are along the Cape. Took a cruise out of Chatham, Capt said he grew up there, used to swim all the time off the beaches. Now he wouldn't go in the water.

The opening scene of Chrissy's demise completely horrified me, however, the scene with Hooper inspecting the hull of Ben Gardner's boat was responsible for causing the most embarrassing moment (at that time) of my life. Having just opened my jumbo box of Junior Mints, and completely entranced with the scene, suddenly, Ben Gardner's face appears through the hole in the hull of the boat, causing me to scream like a little girl and throwing my arms up, causing the contents of my full box of Junior Mints to fly in the air and rain down on everyone sitting in my vicinity. Read the Benchley novel that Summer of 75 before I saw the Movie, Remember being disappointed at the Movie because you create a Visualization in your mind…Hooper could have used a Bigger Cage in the Novel. That being said still a Impactful Movie, and still legendary today. Robert Shaw, great actor✝
Also, Brody was chumming the 2nd day and the shark spy-hopped in front of him and showed itself. They knew it was a 25ft shark then....Brody also knew they would need a bigger boat.
I always thought Chrissie's remains were found the next day. I always wondered about the timeline between the first attack and the day Brody and Hooper paddled back to shore.
That was a really fun episode Hal! Great idea!! You could do the same type of thing with the series of attacks off the Jersey shore in 1916. Those are some interesting attacks too which I think you might have gone over in the past.
True. However the GSAF report claimed that both Chrissie and Kintner may have actually drowned. Nonetheless, a large Great White had been seen in the area earlier.
Was just on Martha's Vineyard this fall, an island tour showed us Sheriff Brody's House, the dock where the shark takes the roast, the harbor where the fishing boats come out of and the bridge that the shark swims into the Pond. They said they're doing a 50th Anniversary party June 15-25 2025.

So happy 🎉to have you right there with me🤪
It's a movie that was really hard to categorize. Was it horror or science fiction? It was a sea monster that does exist, but the film was certainly exaggerated.
Ive seen the movie about 50 times and I still listened to the whole story intently. Cool video 👍
Yeah, and it’s too bad he just re-told the movie again instead of the real story, the real story, where a little boy was killed in a river about 8 miles from shore meaning that shark was probably a bull shark, and not even a great white.
@@robertdysonnon a mission lmao
@@MrDrocballer it’s not working on me, I pointed out that he was full of BS and unless you’ve seen every one of his past shows you wouldn’t know that would you? The sad thing is, is the people that don’t know this who think it’s a real video because he made it sound that way. I’m just pointing out the fact nothing more or less.
@@robertdysonn like it’s your job apparently
@@robertdysonnchill out dude, Hal has told the attacks before, this is a take on the movie, like crikey really?! Haha, I've seen all Hal's vids & thoroughly enjoy & appreciate his channel. You trying to convince his followers he's no good is not a smart idea, take a deep breath, let it go....
Great story Hal. If I hadn’t seen “jaws”, this would have really freaked me out. Lol.
Saw Jaws at the drive in with my parents and siblings and I stayed out of the ocean until 1980 as I believed as a then young child thought a 20’ to 25’ long Great White Shark would get me
Jaws was a game changer about people getting into marine biology and shark hunters (ex: Vic Hislop in Australia)
Im here for it if you want to do more of these. Deep Blue Sea would be a good "What are ya thinkn?" Especially the theme song.
Jawz: The ppl were okay, bt the roast was delish, thx!
That shark must’ve had really bad indigestion, and a fierce hunger lol, I remember seeing this in the cinema when it was first released and it terrified me lol, until that time I hadn’t put swimming in the ocean together with shark attacks (I was young lol), I’d swum at beaches all around the world up until that point, but after it, I was nervous swimming in pools for a while 😂😂
I was nervous in the bath tub.😮
A shark the size of the one in jaws would definitely need to eat as many people as it did within that timeframe.
Damn! That's a hell of a story! You'd think someone would make a movie about this!
That was awesome Hal!
I love that you did this!!!! I love how you held back laughter, telling the first story!
Also, Brody was chumming the 2nd day and the shark spy-hopped in front of him and showed itself. They knew it was a 25ft shark then....Brody also knew they would need a bigger boat.
Yes, i meant to say it didnt attack but left it
I had to buy a kids pool to swim in this summer yah bastard😂
Is it April already,?! Good one Hal! Ya got me..😂
“You yell barracuda, everybody goes “what? Huh”?
You yell shark…and we’ve got a real panic on our hands on the Fourth of July”
I didnt know the movie was based on true events😮!! Even more reason for me to stay OUT of the ocean!! Thanks Hal for another Great.show!!
I always thought Chrissie's remains were found the next day. I always wondered about the timeline between the first attack and the day Brody and Hooper paddled back to shore.
Peter Benchley who wrote the novel Jaws must have had a prediction.
Good memories-thanks, Hal!
That was a really fun episode Hal! Great idea!! You could do the same type of thing with the series of attacks off the Jersey shore in 1916. Those are some interesting attacks too which I think you might have gone over in the past.
He has done the Jersey shore attacks
I'm guessing Chrissie Watkins was 200 yards out when she was attacked. Kintner was 50 yards out
True. However the GSAF report claimed that both Chrissie and Kintner may have actually drowned. Nonetheless, a large Great White had been seen in the area earlier.
@@zingwilder9989 no everybody witnessed Alex being consumed and the flat raft was even more proof the shark did it
Absolutely enjoyed that Hal!! I've seen the movie 5 times but hearing you go over it took me right back there.
That would b cool
Awesome analysis on Jaws, loved it.😊
I had the pleasure of meeting “Jaws” Sutherland Peter Benchley.. lovely man
Wow, I knew Jaws was based off a series of attacks that actually happened but I had no idea it was this historically accurate 😂
lol. It was a bull shark though. He’s doing this as a joke right?
@@GodLovesYou1624 The shark was described as juvenile great white The photo of it Iooks more Iike a great white, but kind of weird Iooking, as if it was a hybrid. It Iooked nothing Iikes buII shark.
This is clever, looking at the story of Jaws as we would a spate of real shark attacks to make not only comparisons but also some stark contrasts with real shark behavior. The observer and the observed, both interacting together.
Love your content Hal. But this one was a real interesting perspective of a classic. Keep up the great work sir
I had thought the movie "JAWS" Was an an exaggeration , .....That was until I began watching your show , HAL.."SHARKS HAPPEN".. I respect SHARKS and their right to live in peace. The ocean is their home and territory. I personally Oppose SHARK dinning, hunting or fishing of this magnificent species.
Wow! After hearing that I think the movie was done pretty good. Especially for the year it was made. And those 2 infamous notes…..brilliant! Daah duuunt…everyone knows exactly what that is no matter how you spell it. lol Great show, Hal. Ty!
You're background photo makes me laugh. Looks like my pit bull when she's in a playful mood😂
I call her my landshark🤣😂🤣
😅😂😅!!!
Love it! A Hal-ization of “Jaws”! Brilliant! Spielberg would love this!
Show me the way to go home. I'm tired and I want to go to bed. I had a little drink about an hour ago and it went right to my head............
Where ever we may go, on land or sea or foam...... what's the rest of it now 🤔?.. help me out here....
@@teresadvorak6145I think it’s mumbling because then shortly after they hear the thump on the boat. When it’s dark and they’re way out there. Man that movie ruined baths for me
@@teresadvorak6145 You can always hear me singing this song,
Said show me the way to go home.
This video made my day, thank you ❤
There's a documentary that came out in 1975 about this very attack. You should watch it. It has actual footage of the shark, so you can determine it's length and species. It's rather graphic, so watch it at your own risk.
Hey thanks for the video. I personally like the 10 to 20 min video range. It's easier to watch on a bust day when I don't have a lit if time. Just wanted to say thanks
