- In this home tour, designer Amanda Shields takes us inside her clients’ renovated Victorian house in the Toronto beaches. Originally renovated in the 1990s, the home was due for a refresh for a new family. “I wanted a design that would touch on old ideas but was still modern and stand the test of time,” says Amanda. Checkerboard floors, archways and stained glass windows lend itself to Old World design, while contemporary features like a built-in wet bar and open-concept living space feels fresh and of the moment.

Very nice home, but somehow most houses in this channel looks so similar!
Very neutral, white marble and from one home to the other looks the same 😢
Totally agree
Agree and boy did I get shot down by another commenter by saying the same thing about another Reno on this channel.
I feel the same
They ALL look beautiful.
I don't like the glass cabinets/open shelving. It makes the room look cluttered. I do love the tiles and lighting in the dining room. Also, why didn't you place the mirror and lights over the sink in the powder room? Placing it above the toilet is weird.
Yeah, you’re right. My friend mom has that and sometimes you just focus on what are you looking at in the see through the glass especially with my friends mom her can goods are visibly showing it’s like do I have to look at 6 cans of chicken noodle soup 🤣 and you’re right about the bathroom oh my Lord, what they supposed to stand on the toilet and look in the mirror🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Neat and tidy. Safe choices for everything. The most interesting rooms were the mudroom and the powder bathroom. The designer said she was aiming for timeless. It is definitely very 2024 on trend.
This is pretty but definitely not timeless. On the contrary, this is very trendy. Mint boot, room, cream and gold, arches. I think these will be dated in 2 years top.
Its so funny cause every designer will call their work timeless and then in 5 years time they come back and tell us it’s dated and how to update it with the new “timeless” current trend.
Opposite. Timeless means outdated. And it is.
Arches are from the era of a Victorian home. Arches are not trendy. They are from a period.
@@thelalanz73they come in and out of style.
Not sure about the “pantry” style in the dining room but the home is lovely!
The designer said she was aiming for timeless. This is right on trend for 2024.
Not on trend at all. Timeless means outdated
There is nothing that looks timeless. Everything has a specific time period. Name something that looks timeless?
@@stulianadivanova8444 name one thing that is not affected by the passage of time or changes in fashion?
I’m never that excited about dining rooms with these home tours but the dining room in this house is STUNNING!🙌🏾
Joel....i dont know where to begin with what i might like the best in this project. Everything in this condo is wonderful, intentional and chosen with a creative bent for the client's lifestyle. Well done Sir..! 👏❤
Love the tiles in the dining room! Love the whole re-do. Well done! I think i love the sponsor, too. But I'm here in the states.
Such a beautiful house! Thoughtfully designed and curated.
Lovely home! It would be great to have a "Shop the Look" feature with this video.
yes, would like to know where the porcelain was sourced
One of the exciting things to do is to upgrade our homes even with minimal features. ❤❤
Looks good...but looks more modern than Victorian
Gorgeous ilove it❤
Beautiful very calming and feels established !
Well done❤!!! & So beautiful 😊..Plus supporting the Dairy farmers.🙏
Why would anyone want to support dairy farmers? Bad for the environment, our health and especially the cows who are continually impregnated only to have their babies taken away right after birth and raised in veal crates so humans can drink their milk. So disgusting when you really break it down and think about it. Cows milk is for calves, not humans.
This home is stunning!
Beautifully done ❤
Can it get more boring than that? Everyone is doing the same style now, its not timeless, its new "cookie cutter"
My friend is an interior designer and she said neutral is hot. It’s hot. It’s all her clients want.😊
Lovely home
Beautifully done
Love this! The design made the house look quite large
❤ I'm writing to you from eastern Europe. I believe Canadian home designers are fabulous! At House & Home I've seen such great varieties of style that are done impeccably and in such good taste ❤
Are you serious? Eastern European design is much much advanced. It is 20 years difference.
It’s pretty, but like many designed homes, it looks purchased, not collected.
Great comment. I've always felt this way about these similarly designed homes, but never could articulate why it wasn't something I'd like to live in personally.
4:43 to 4:44 SO ADORABLE 🤎
I thought the dining room was a kitchen first.
Which touches looked Victorian? I missed them.
Agreed. I have a Victorian home and I was hoping for a bit of inspiration. While the home is nice, there is no Victorian charm.
I was scared she would forgot to use wallpaper in a powder room.
I do feel like most people that the houses look the same n a bit boring. But let's not forget désigners works on what client want. If most people want neutral they can't just impose another style on them. They get paid to give that neutral. If most houses end up looking the same it is because it reflets the current trends. It is not the Channel fault. It is more likely the clients fault
Too much open shelving. All this creates visual noise. At least that started using plaster finishes. At least tiles are all way up to the ceiling. Some improvement but still looks clutered.
Beauriful home but I still find it weird when they dont put a bidet in the powder room.
Depends on your culture and where in the world you are from
@@thelalanz73 i know thats why I find it weird
Why do they need a bench at the entrance. Losing valuable sq footage for some open benches. Just build the closet all way. People need storage nor benches.
Why turn a beautiful Victorian home into a generic open concept? I don’t understand if they want this modern style than should go buy something else more suitable. It’s a shame these Victorian houses are all being turned into white/grey/beige boxes.
