Elegant, classy, yet not pretentious or too regal. Cozy and I want to live there!!!
thank you!
❤
Et moi!
I'm French and I can tell it’s so beautifully done. You’ve created a 5-star Parisian living space. I can see the American style in the kitchen and bathroom, which is better than our style and blend perfectly in this one bedroom. Merci pour la visite ☺️
Thank you and from a french person, your comments were especially valued!
Just perfect!!! ❤ I want it for myself 😊
I’m a 60 ish male, love Paris and I have to say your apartment is the epitome of the Paris vibe. It’s classy warm and inviting and you just knocked it out of the park on the design.
A huge thank you given most of the items were purchased at the flea market. Nothing like a beautiful bargain.
Sharri, did you buy this apartment, or do you rent it? Beautiful ❤❤
I agree, it’s wonderful! ❤
@lindamargolies7759 SHE mentioned, that she have purchased ..........
@@lindamargolies7759She mentioned that she’d take the lamps with her when it comes time for her to sell this apartment.
Beautifully done! I can't tell you how thirsty I've been to see a home tour that wasn't done by a 20-something or someone with millions of dollars. I'm envious of your ability to source such gorgeous vintage and antique items so easily. And the use of the Hermès scarf was genius. I'm not ready to move yet -- mostly due to elderly pets -- but this was inspiring for when I am able to go. France is on my shortlist.
thank you!! Yes, France (and maybe all of Europe) has beautiful furniture and accessories for very affordable prices- less than IKEA! When you are ready, check out estate sales or auctions in your area. I've bought some very pretty pieces for super cheap in the Boston area, the biggest cost is usually hiring a mover.
@@extraordinarywomennextchapter Funny, I'm originally from the Boston area, and have a few small things from there that were in my parents' house on the Cape. I had a forced downsizing during the Recession, but I kept a few nice pieces from the Midwest. And since then, I've picked up a few things in Mexico, and my sister sourced some nice furnishings for me in Los Angeles and Palm Springs. I have a refurbished antique dresser from a local thrift shop here in rural SoCal being delivered this weekend.
My moving plan is to get a new bed and sofa wherever I land but to bring all my small tables, chests, and chairs with me in a freight cube. Likewise any nice dishware and glassware, plus art, that I've collected over the years, and some books (I have a large collection of art and coffee table books that can't be substituted with digital versions). I don't want to start over, and it's not cost effective (nor desirable to me) to buy new with every move. The trick is to find an unfurnished or minimally furnished place (I'll likely be renting). Then I'd like to add some pieces from local shops too. I love that layering you get when you collect over the decades and can repurpose pieces like your commodes in different ways.
Thank you for sharing your world. I just found you. Hope to see more of you and your escapes.
Same here.
Lovely home, you've pulled it all together in a warm and beautiful way.
One of the loveliest apartments I’ve ever seen! I love the mix between old and new.
thank you!
Beautifully decorated apartment filled with perfect finds!
Thank you! It was so fun to shop at the markets to obtain my special finds. Outside of France, it's estate sales and consignment shops!!
Absolutely beautiful! For one person it is plenty big. Less is more. Having a small home means you have to spend less time cleaning it, which frees you up to go out and enjoy life.
True but I have always found small spaces harder to clean. Probably because less actual floor space so everything must be moved around in order to clean.
Thanks for your comment. Yes, less IS more.
So very true!
Words of wisdom.
Hear! Hear!
So minimalist and yet so luxurious! A true Parisian apartment!
Thank you! Happy you enjoyed the video and more to come.
Two years ago, I downsized into a one room studio apartment with small galley kitchen and full bathroom. Love my simple, uncluttered life. Thank you for sharing your beautiful apartment.
What a beautiful beautiful apartement. Love the wallpaper and the decor. So harmonious and classic!
You are so kind. I love decorating...don't we all. I also love getting really creative because I can't afford or want big. Thanks for commenting!
You've created a serene, tasteful, and carefully curated home. It's beautiful.
Thank you for commenting! it took me a while but a fun process.
In Paris, this is NOT what you call a "small" apartment, this is a fairly nicely sized one.
...for a one-bedroom flat as she calls it. Let's not forget, she downsized from a 2-bed to a 1. Still plenty of space.
I called it small myself but it is larger than others I’ve seen. Surely looks like it LIVES large! Beautiful!!
But she is not a student anymore. Lot's of Parisian in her generation have much much bigger apartments.
She’s not a permanent resident, so smaller is still lovely.
It’s a lot bigger then mine lol
Soooo beautiful! I am Australian but was born and raised in Croatia. I love anything French because it speaks elegance..... like your apartment. You are very blessed. ❤️❤️❤️
I am blessed and remind myself of that quite often...especially when I want to complain about something. Thank you for your kind comments!
We decided to downsize and my hubby passed 3 weeks after we moved in. It was difficult but now I am so glad we had moved and I love my 2 bed apartment with sea views.
smaller can be better...maybe we should call it upsizing!
Love the idea of the pocket door to create privacy if/when the l/r is used for sleeping.
It was the contractor's idea and works beautifully!
Now that’s a perfect French apartment!
thank you and welcome!
What a FANTASTIC apartment with a great layout. The rooms are very well proportioned. great light and beautifully appointed. From vids I have been watching on apartments in Paris, this apartment is quite large or at least looks so. I do hope your Paris chapter lasts for some time so you may enjoy this lovely space! thank you for sharing!
Size is deceiving...this is a small or regular sized apartment in Paris. 670 sq. feet or 63 sq. meters. But, I've learned as I've gotten older, that more space isn't what I need- because I then just fill it up with "stuff." Thank you for your kind words...yes, we never know how long each chapter will be so we have to try to find joy in each day.
Thanks so much for sharing your apartment in Paris. I enjoyed it very much and love all the clever charming touches you added. ❤❤❤
thank you for your compliments and welcome!!
This is what living accommodations are like when I woman takes over….form and function!
You made me laugh! How many spaces have we sat in and redesigned for better flow and function as you call it. Sooo many....
Well said!
Incredibly spacious for a Paris apartment - beautifully and elegantly appointed. Love the colour palette. The use of mirrors always makes a space look light and airy. Furnishings are sublime. For me that’s large apartment, but I get for those from America, this would seem small. Love the use of lamps in the kitchen creates a warm ambiance. Making one’s world smaller has great benefit in freeing up one from stuff - the more square footage the more stuff and the more one is having to keep clean and tidy. And maintenance. It’s amazing what we can manage without and only have what brings us joy in creating a harmonious comfortable relaxing home. It’s an expression of oneself.
Beautiful comments...thank you!
I just found your channel. In the next few weeks I will be watching all your videos. I have been looking for something like this. Today I was told I am 20 months into remission from colon cancer. My doc thinks I will be just fine. Now that I know I will most likely not die from this I need to get on with the rest of my life. I hit the pause button because I was worried that if I started anything I might not be here to follow it through. So now I can make some plans and take some action. The problem is I am not sure how to do that. But I watched a few of your videos and I think this is the place to start.
Oh yes! I can't imagine what it must have been like to get that diagnosis but hopefully, you are now on the mend and you can let yourself dream and plan again. Welcome to designing your next chapter!!!
Congrats on your recovery and best wishes to getting back to 100%! Now go live your best life❤
Congratulations on your journey to recovery! I am a 2X breast cancer Survivor, so I can appreciate how far you've come.
Treat yourself to flowers often, you deserve it!
Godspeed 🙏
Wishing you a long happy healthy life 🩷❤🧡
Paris. Sleeper sofa. I will be right over! Lovely home with charming details, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for joining me and commenting!!
I loved seeing your apartment. So tastefully decorated, and those mirrors! Thank you for sharing.
Happy to hear you like it!
Beautiful apartment. Perfect size.
Paris will always be my second home. I lived in Paris proper in a hotel for 4 months, just 1 block from the Etoil. Then moved to Poissy for 4 years. After all that time, I never learned French, but oh how I miss the taste of the French bread! I'd gige anything to eat that again. I love your apartment and if I were with the means, I'd be living there again!
Yes...French bread. It is THE best. Living in a hotel for 4 months must have been fun. You've got a story to tell...write the book!
How wonderful of you to share your private space - your beautiful home. Thank you for inviting us in. Blessings.
Blessings to you and thank you for joining me!!
Having lived in Paris as a single person for 24 years (I'm now in Normandy), this apartment is quite the find. Perfect thart you created a real foyer, which I also consider really important. Also, the amount of storage space is exceptional (the French don't believe in closets, only armoires) - your decoration, though not my taste (I prefer Jean Royère or other French mid-century designers) is so naturally done that it doesn't feel decorated at all, which is the hardest design stunt to pull off. And I LOVE your window treatments, beautiful curtains. Brava
Thank you! I can tell you are a true designer. I added things piece by piece, so it means a lot that you appreciate the end result.
Beautiful apartment. Décor is lovely. The apartment is very cozy the layout is nice.
it is perfect for me...some would need more storage but I find we fill up whatever spaces we have!
I like the grey, off-white aesthetic with touches of gold: very elegant and highly liveable. Less is certainly more as they say and not everyone needs acres of space.
What a lovely tastefully decorated apartment! Love all the mirrors. Thanks for the home tour
Thanks for joining me on my tour and sharing!
What a gorgeous apartment. I actually learned a lot. I will add a desk next to my bed like you did because it is just wasted space. Thank you so much!
I would dearly love to see another video showing in more detail where you store all your things in this beautiful apartment! I’m wondering where you keep all your office supplies, important papers, wardrobe, kitchenware, linens, toiletries, etc. I’m over 70, live in an apartment & it would be SO helpful! I’m sure you have done such a good job of curating during downsizing (which is a beautiful idea to me). Oh, Please Do!
Well, there is a cave for this apartment in the cellar, where I store papers, unused furniture, holiday decorations, etc. but nothing that is fabric. Every one of the cupboards you saw in the bedroom has shelves up to the ceiling so there are loads of storage....and my bed has two big drawers under it where I store sheets, table linens, off season clothing. I think the key is to be creative and figure out ways to divide up and organize things in a cupboard.
Lovely, welcoming, cozy home❤. The mirrors make the apartment elegant…and I also add lamps to my kitchen, powder room, bathroom, laundry room, even the walk in closet. Lamps transform the room from its technical origins to a homey space.
Great feedback...you sound like a decorator! Love the lamps in usual places idea!! Thank you.
MAGNIFIQUE congrats lady 🙏👌🌺
LOVE what you have done with your small space. It’s warm and cozy, but very chic! Great job!
Oh wow. You nailed the Parisian style of combining old and new in a way that feels organic. I would live there in a heartbeat.
I absolutely LOVED your tour and your Paris apt. It’s lovely and is exactly what I’d strive for if I lived there. Everything down to the added molding (or especially the molding) is my taste, exactly. I had to smile when you said the chairs are Pierre Frey as I have an entire Pinterest board on Pierre Frey. I lived in Germany and Austria for about 10 years when I was younger (am now 70) and so I’m not surprised by anything in your apt. I would have loved just a glimpse of the courtyard. Those are some of the loveliest perks of living in European cities (to me). I’m sure this is a different type of podcast for you but it is just right up my alley, I enjoyed it so very much. Such an fun podcast, thanks for making it.
Thank you for joining me!! I should have added photos of the courtyard. Great suggestion!! Ah, Pierre Frey....the best combination of antique wallpapers and contemporary furniture.
Your apartment is lovely! And, I love how you decided to built walls, when everyone seems to be knocking them down. I am like you. Congratulations, enjoy it fully!
thank you! Yes, maybe it's when we no longer need to watch children that we start to put up those walls so we don't have to look at a kitchen mess.
I liked the bed and headboard and bedroom the best, with the breeze from windows. That would be Heaven to sleep in that room. Next, the kitchen was inviting to have a nice coffee or tea with a croissant or 2.
You are so right!! Thank you for joining me!
What a lovely blend of traditional and contemporary furnishings. I love the tall windows and mirrors too.
Thank you for your kind comments....windows and mirrors can make a place.
You’ve done an amazing job at making a plain apartment look like a mini chateau! I’ve just divorced after 20 years of marriage and moved into a an apartment of the same size. You gave me lot of ideas on how to make it look special. I have already thought about antique furniture with character but also loved your tips about handles and knobs and also that gorgeous wallpaper in the hallway. Loved it! I am also impressed on how you have managed to create storage. Wish you all luck with your future endeavours!
And you too!!! I divorced after 23 years of marriage. It's a huge lifestyle shift but it's now been 10 years and I can say, life is good. Go slow and make sure every stey you take is exactly what YOU want. Bon courage!!
That is lovely wallpaper. And that lamp is special for sure. I gush. It is a pretty kitchen and it has a window which is perfect.
I just love it! It’s nice to get ideas from people- I often get frustrated because I want so much all at once but no funds! I then freeze because I get overwhelmed with the decorating process. I beautiful, cosy space is very important to me!
J'adore les Puces de St Ouen , "carverne d'Alibaba" for great old pieces. You did such a great job , your apartment is elegant with a feeling of "sérénity" , et très français sans ostentation : bravo!
Seems like you're thinking about leaving Paris ...thank you for the lovely glimpse of your elegant home
So Beautiful!!!! I’d love an apartment exactly that size in Paris. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for commenting! it's around 670 sq. feet or 63 sq. meters. Tiny by most people's standards but you are right, absolutely perfect.
Welcome and happy you found me. Steal away...All my great ideas have come from things I've seen elsewhere!!
Love the apartment and how you decorated it, it's Beautiful!
I am French and always loved Paris. This apartment is so lovely and perfect for someone who loves art and the history of all great pieces that are finds all over France. Thank you!
thank you for joining me!! More brocante shopping for sure.
Your apartment looks gorgeous. Love those commodes, they’re so beautiful.
The apartment looks wonderful, very polished design that is also practical.
Furnishing an apartment like this with beautiful flea market finds must have been so much fun :)
It was and thank you for joining me!
This is the most beautiful apartment I've seen and it seems quite large in comparison to some others. You did a beautiful job.
thank you!
William Morris, doyen of the Arts and Crafts movement said "have nothing in your house which is not beautiful or useful" . This lady embodies this maxim. She has impeccable taste.
oh my..my head is exploding. Thank you!
What an incredibly beautiful space! I can only imagine how lovely it would be to live there!
Beautiful tre chic! Love everything, the simplicity, the sophistication. Elegant and airy for a small space. In other words, it's Paris. And so inspirational! Thank you.
I’d buy your apartment in a heartbeat
I want to live in Paris!!! Size doesn’t always matter it’s the styling and yours is perfect!!
A lovely home, elegant, beautifully furnished. Peaceful. I could live here and enjoy it immensely.
Happy to hear you liked the apartment and thank you for sharing!!
I so enjoyed seeing your lovely Parisian apartment. It’s absolutely perfect. I couldn’t agree more that drapes and rugs define a space, and you have chosen well. Your wallpaper in the foyer and paint color are so elegant! Can you tell me, at least descriptively, what color they are?
Thank you for showing us your space. If you remember Frank Sinatra (?)singing "It Was A Very Good Year," I was that girl in San Francisco and I did indeed live up a stair in a huge studio with black nylon sheets on a mattress in the corner, no sofa, but I did have an ebony Steinway piano. The large white tile bathroom had a clawfoot bathtub. A sturdy wood soy sauce crate covered in black contact paper perfectly held my LP record collection with the phonograph on top. The huge closet had contained the double size Murphy bed that swung around and was lowered into the room. A pretty window in the closet brought in light that faded the celadon pinwale corduroy pantsuit (bell bottoms) I'd worked so hard to sew. According to Helen Gurley Brown, I was a little "mouseburger" rushing off to temp assignments. These days I still have the red Indian bedspread and the piano. On Sundays I visit Franklin Habit in Paris, being one of his patrons. You two are living a dream for the rest of us. Again, many thanks!
Love it! Thank you so much for sharing! The built-ins, the windows and drapes, the Pierre Freres chairs (?), all so beautiful and liveable 🎉🎉🎉
Such a pretty home, so peaceful. I love the lamps in the kitchen!
ah yes...lamps in the kitchen. Doesn't work when you are feeding a crowd but perfect for this chapter of my life. Thanks!
What a lovely visit I’ve just had with you. It really did feel like you were showing just me around your lovely home. And how timely……as I have recently sold my large family home, four years after becoming a widow, with my children all married. I am waiting impatiently for my new apartment to be completed, and for me to start my ‘next chapter’. I took note of your suggestions about beautiful window coverings, and plenty of storage. You have just become my inspiration!
Arrondissement of this apartment and price range of this one bedroom?
In my mind, absolute perfection. So serene and beautiful. Choosing a one bedroom and prioritizing storage in beautiful ways, can really free up your decorating budget and time spent cleaning. Adding in gorgeous mirrors and draperies, and a cohesive color scheme in a small space really helps expand it. Bravo. 👏🏼🌹
I love the old world charming furniture pieces that you have. They are gorgeous. It’s a good mixture of modern and cozy. You did a very good job with the decor and restraint. I also love that you made it your own and didn’t follow all the fads that tell us what we should like. Thank you for the video.
Thank you for your kind, thoughtful comment! Yes, we have to decorate how WE live not the trends.
Your apartment is beautiful and so relaxing with all the colours you have chosen.
thank you! Yes, this apartment is comforting and cozy. It works in the dark winter months and hot, bright summers. So happy to hear you liked it!
My Boston apartment is about the same size as your gorgeous apartment. It is elegant and warm and so livable. Thank you for sharing your gracious and charming home.
The apartment is beautiful! Wonderfully decorated and curated. For Paris extraordinarily spacious considering it's a 1 bedroom.
Beautiful! Really love the muted dove grey blue tones, lovely calming vibe!
You home is so beautifully arranged and so much thought to detail. I can hear your enthusiasm and joy with your life in Paris and your space that you’ve made your own. Bravo!
This apt is amazing. You did an incredible job. Love love love
Lovely pied à terre. I love the addition of lamps in the kitchen.
Love love your apartment but one idea I had that you could do that I think would be a lot of fun and beautiful, but do with it what you will as it’s your home. But I would remove the venting panels in the armoire and I would find some beautiful Parisian fabric and replace the venting grid in the armoire doors with beautiful fabric pleated and then your TV would be completely hidden and it would give character to the armoire and it would be fun to find beautiful Parisian fabric for it. And with it being a minimal space for fabric it can still be affordable to go $$ on fabric as it would be a focal piece in your room. :)
Absolutely beautiful, I’m envious!
Everything is just perfect! The wallpaper in the foyer, the perfect cream colored walls, the art, the colors of the furnishings.
You created continuity between the spaces, all while giving each its’ own special moment.
Tres Magnifique!
Such elegant and sophisticated furnishings!! Love your taste! ❤❤
Really quite wonderful. It is truly lovely with very balanced furnishings and delicate colors throughout. I would have a difficult time letting your apartment go. It is a joy to view & thanks; Ron
Thank you so much!
Mirrors are wonderful! I feel like I am moving! We are getting a tiled floor soon, so we are going through drawers and putting things in tubs to simplify. I say that as an owner of 3 sewing machines, and we are donating things. My things and art are such a part of home to me. I once was promised a month in a friend’s apartment in FRANCE. That was so long ago. Thanks for sharing a modest escape that is more reachable than buying a chateau in France!
I just found your channel this morning. Your apartment is gorgeous! I love your wallpaper, mirrors, drapes! You have wonderful taste. I'm going to steal your idea on the drapes! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
thank you for joining me!
Thanks so much Sharri. Love your apartment, you are truly inspiring ! 💝
Absolutely charming! Thanks for the tour!
How beautiful. Love everything. The little, corner bathroom sink is so cute. You’re so blessed to have such a beautiful place.
I am blessed...and try to not forget that. Thank you for your comments!
Very elegant but warm and cozy and practical! I’m buying a small townhome in Montmorillon near Poitiers and this gives me some inspiration! It’s on 3 levels and is about 70 s.m. 2bedrooms, 2 baths, one per floor. Definitely going to make second bedroom into a study/library in the Cite de l’ Ecrit (City of Writing)!
Wow. Your place is amazing! I love everything about it, especially the living room chairs and commode, as well as the desk and accompanying chair. Thank you for sharing.
I love love your appointment!
The living room lamps are stunning!
I love the little lamps in the kitchen ❤️
I absolutely loved watching your video! Your apartment is so elegant but cosy and inviting. Adding a closet in the entry way by extending the wall is so clever, and I agree about closing off kitchens from the living area. I have always put little lamps in my kitchens, it was nice to see them in your kitchen. I think it's the appropriate gentle lighting for making the last cup of tea or cocoa in the evening. Thanks for your practicality and flair.
Incredible! I’m so happy for you!
So beautiful! Thanks for the tour.
thanks for joining me!!
Delightful design and decor that compliments your space for living. The curtains!! Great point about mortgaging or purchasing too much space like a second bedroom.
So beauifully done. Congratulations, Sharri. Love the consistent and restful blue-gray
colour palette, the pragmatism and the beauty.
This is so authentic. A lot of us are looking for a way to live a life that is meaningful and doesn't cost millions. A lifestyles that is affordable.
Thank you for your kind feedback!
I loved it so much, I watched it twice!
Oh, you are a kindred spirit. I do that with some of the Homesworthy episodes!!
Love your style... what is the m2? My suggestion is put fabric/netting behind the wire mesh on the tv wardrobe, seeing the tv is odd looking.
The most beautiful apartment I have ever seen.
It is simple and lovely. Thank you for sharing.
I’m Canadian and have been to
Paris many times . I’m sure there must be other Canadians amongst your viewers ; not just Americans and citizens of the UK .
🇨🇦
Thank you for the reminder!!! Honestly, I'm surprised anyone other than my relatives are watching my videos...obviously I need to think bigger!! Love Canada AND Canadians!!
and an Argentine living in the USA
Canadian here! I've just discovered this. Thank you!
Beautiful ❤
I had a good friend tell me to do this video. Happy to hear you enjoyed it!!
What a lovely apartment. Your antiques and the colors you chose are elegant and soothing. Thank you for sharing!
What a stunning place!! Thank you for sharing and inspiring.
It looks much more polished to keep the seam of the lamp in the center back of the lamp rather than letting the seam show.
And electric cords to the back of the lamp
