*1st Story:* $750 for the wasted trip? Whatever happened to the $1000 deposit?
that's what i was thinking!
This story is all over the place, makes me think it's fake honestly.
That's what I was thinking. What about the deposit?
$1000 deposit, contract signed... somehow no legal recourse? How?
This person also buys a new car every 3-4 years? But they don't have a lawyer to help them here? Buying a new used car every few years makes sense, but buying a brand new car every few years means OP has plenty of money. So, why not get a lawyer involved?
I looked up their accounts and they only have one post from 4 years ago in the Dominos subreddit that was deleted by mods.
"Would you screw over Jesus?" Is what I ask that pastor.
What I'd ask is 'Isn't Avarice, Pride, and wrath three of the seven deadly sins? why are you expediting them?"
Being a Christian, this hits me pretty hard.
Pastor: "Jesus got screwed over much worse, and by his own Father no less."
That story just screams a selfish church.
@@annika5893i would respond with "God didn't cheat Jesus out of being reborn though so you shouldn't cheat me out of being "reborn" as someone who got paid"
First story- I'm pretty sure OP could have sued for breach of contract and either forced them to get him a car or pay a lot more than $750. Maybe both
Both sounds like the better option
If a dealership tried to buy a 5-star review from me, I'd make one. And then a few 1-star reviews later just to spite them. Yes, I'm petty and $50 isn't enough to buy my loyalty unless I actually get 5-star service from them.
I know I would've
Pretty sure buying reviews is also illegal, or at the very least against every platform's ToS. OP could have reported them.
Yeah, there was a contract. How was there no real recourse?
First story:
A contract was signed, a $1000 deposit was made, yet there's no legal recourse? That makes no sense.
OP literally never even mentions the deposit again. They're concerned about the $750 expenses, but not the $1000 deposit?
Also, OP has enough money to buy a brand new car every 3-4 years, but they don't have a lawyer to turn to in this situation?
This is a very unbelievable situation...
Thats what baffled me. How many people realistically (not counting accidents people might get in) get a new car every 3-4 years in this day n age?
@@sanctuary_polaris
They'd have to have a lot of money, and in that case they would also have a lawyer they'd know to consult.
@Richard_Nickerson that was my thought. Plus if you have that much money there is a good chance you know a lawyer or have a friend who does. I know 3 lawyers just from family members and friends.
@@sanctuary_polaris
Right, you'd know at least 1 you could talk to without getting more money involved.
dude likely selling his current car for a good rate in his overpriced city then buys a used car (he isnt buying new cars 2/3 years), since he is going shitbox to shitbox 2/3 is a good idea. the deposit was likely refunded no issue so no reason to mention it. maybe he could sue but maybe the contract wording was vague enough that he wouldnt have a good case.
Hourly employees are paid for their time, not their productivity. Companies need to be careful about this.
Even when paid for productivity, STILL need to watch out for any loopholes.
Story 2 sounds crazy to me. I'm in Finland, so my country is part of the EU like Germany. In our legislation it's considered that a business does not have "honor" like a person, so a business can't be an object of defamation like people. So anyone's free to leave bad reviews of businesses as they like, without any possibility of legal trouble.
It is like this in Canada too
Story 3: Wow, this guy really threw out decent employees just so he could have his inexperienced buddies working with him. That's an easy way to kill a business, if he's going to hire his buddies at least make sure they know what they're doing
...and should've checked redundancy package before firing him. Shall I say don't mess with the IT guy?! 😂😀
That happens quite often in these stories, a new boss either firing a good employee to hire a buddy or promoting a buddy to a role they are unsuited for denying a better candidate the promotion.
Technocracy over nepotism/cronyism!
That "boss" had the elephant balls to say that OP's job is easy without even getting what he did.
He got what's coming to him.
@@michaelgum97 The phrase "don't rock the boat till you know what's keeping it afloat".
EM and Kids: Well, EM basically said that OP's mom could handle the little gremlins in any way, so what did she expect? Maybe she should start being a better parent
Lol yea
She needs to start being a parent before being a "better" parent.
The last story reminded me of my mom when she yelled 'Ya cállate!' to a brat screaming at a store she was in. She legitimately thought it was me because I was with her but it wasn't! That brat immediately went silent and cried. His mother was glaring at my mom and when my mom realized that she yelled at a strangers child she gave her a look that said 'control your damn kid'.
😂😂
Translation?
@@mariposa9506 "Shut up already" in Spanish
"How dare you teach me how to be a parent!"
Well someone has to.
I was half expecting OP's mom to spank the brats, but that would not have ended well for her.
EM should be grateful that this particular lesson was _free_ instead of having to cover the costs of replacing the testers.
Literally exactly what I said right when that line was read, lol! XD
Yep
OP: "I was the IT guy"
Oh, boy, someone is about to mess with the IT guy! **grabs popcorn**
Lol
Anyone who winds up saying, "How dare you try to teach me how to parent?" is already in a position where they need to be taught how to parent. I wish every country treated parenting like France, where it is expected for strangers to chastise misbehaving children just as much as it is expected for their actual parents to do so. "It takes a village," and all that.
I’m German and I’ve seen the posting about the church on Reddit and answered my suspicions there already.
My suspicion is, that that priest pocketed the 2nd half for himself. Like, he not just scammed OP but also the church. Why do I suspect that?
Well, even though I’m non religious now, I was actually raised catholic. If you register yourself as member of one of the recognised religions in Germany you pay “church tax“. Meaning a part of your pay cheque goes automatically to your church. Obviously churches therefore have an administration. Now if there are things like repairs and such, you bring the receipts there and it’s (as far as I remember) either fully or mostly paid by taxes. In other words churches are NOT private institutions like in the US.
So my suspicion is, that the priest paid op half, but gave the full bill as receipt and pocketed the difference. And OP’s original review stating that he wasn’t paid could have gotten him in hot water. Now he just can’t do the same to others anymore, hence the pissed phone call.
It's absolutely amazing that he posted the letter as proof of the thing which happened because he had no proof ^.^
Probably the most hilarious way to malisciously comply^^
Heehee. You make a good point. I had never thought about the priest pocketing the difference (I didn't know they had 'income' in this way from your government). But, then I started wondering what the priest was spending the money on and now I can't stop thinking about a priest, complete with black clothes and white collar, living it up with gambling, hookers, and blow...
This makes a lot of sense! I'm glad to get the perspective of someone with relevant knowledge.
I lived in Germany for years as a kid and I didn't know that lol I love learning 😁
I have noticed that there are a number of CZcams channels created by car experts or dealers/mechanics. They often devote entire postings on lying dealers with fake ads and sneaky contracts. Chrysler Jeep Dodge seems to be at the top but many other brands are also included. They describe much of what OP went through. Everyone needs to keep posting the bad reviews but also send e mails to the manufacturer telling them you will never buy their brand again. This can cost a dealer his franchise with too many complaints.
Dealerships aren't run by the manufacturers
@@bigjalapeno7061 Of course they are not. That’s a strange answer. But car manufactures learned a long time ago that dealers that piss off customers created customers that abandoned both the dealer and the brand. That’s one of the reasons the dealership almost begs you for a good review because it affects their franchise with the factory. Really poor dealerships run the risk of having their franchise canceled.
@@bigjalapeno7061 But they are beholden to them.
Anyone watching the eclipse today, KEEP YOUR GLASSES ON, and have a fun time watching this astronomical event
Don't forget Devil's Comet either
Despite how many people kept mentioning it, I almost forgot about it
You as well bud
And remember, don't wear your prescription glasses under the eclipse ones or over them 😂
it's a shame I won't see it.
So honest question about the first story: can't the 5 star reviews be taken down or the dealer get into huge trouble for what's effectively bribery?
Most certainly. Bribery is _definitely_ the wrong way to get a good review.
This.☝️
Story 3: when will people ever learn: never, ever, EVER screw with the IT guy!
"How dare you teach me how to be a parent!"
Well, in order for it be "teaching", you'd have to "learn". And let's be real here, someone like that is NOT going to learn.
The first story. Too bad OP didnt mention what the car dealership was. Could get some more people leave more bad reviews.
I'd definitely like to get a piece of _that_ action!
Too bad OP forgot about their $1000 deposit and legally binding contract meaning they could have gotten much more than a little more than $700 back. It's almost as if this story is a nonsensical fake story. Any normal person would have thought about that. Especially if they went the legal route like OP apparently did.
Remind me never to move to Germany. If you can be sued for bad reviews, that has to be the worst consumer protection practice ever.
Germany just has controls on what amount of lying is acceptable to the public and if it presents a danger or potential to misinform and or libel someone. Essentially, if you're gonna talk shit over there, have proof or shut up.
@thisistherevolt Except it has a chilling effect on people like in this story. If the burden of proof is on the reviewer, then the company can easily lie. He was ripped off of half his money and had to remove his review because he thought he could lose on a case, because he can't prove he wasn't handed cash.
You see how this is a stupid system that allows cheaters to get away by abusing the law? Not everyone can afford a court case even a frivolous one.
You can also get sued for misinformation that's why all blogs, microblogs (Twitter, Instagram) and video and streaming people from Germany have to have a legal address (not a PO box) somewhere on your page so you can get sued for misinformation and if you don't have a legal address on your page you can get sued for not having an address, and they might even get an order to your provider to share your information so they and serve you the papers. Spreading misinformation is taken very serious here in Germany.
@@idap1879 I don't mind if they take misinformation seriously but the issue is I think its an extremely abusable system. We can see it had a chiling effect on someone who has a legitimate issue. Also legal fees in the US are expensive and I would assume germany is fairly expensive too. It creates situations like this were you can't prove something didn't happen because that is basically impossible to do. The potential for harm is far too great imo.
@@FatedGamer I totally agree with you, and the laws are slowly shifting but like this is Germany we are talking about it will probably take 5-10 years of discussions before the changes are made, but this laws are to protect you from misinformation and companies from slander, so proof is key even if it’s hard to come by.
Be sure to keep your pets safe indoors and away from windows between 3pm-6pm to prevent them from eye damage/blindness
Where I live, the eclipse will be long over by then. But, that said, thank you for the reminder to protect our pets.
Second story: how did the contractors asking their money upfront cost the church thousands? Surely they weren't planning on stiffing all of them out of their payment as well, right? 🤔
It apparently gets worse. @leinaluo9763 posted an explanation in this comment feed. @leinaluo9763 is German and explains that in Germany churches get money from the government for this type of work. So, the priest can submit the entire invoice, pay half, and pocket the difference from what the government reimburses the church. I recommend finding @leinaluo9763's comment. It is pretty informative.
Story 1: Honestly - i don't really think it helped in any way shape or form. The dealership is still there, doing their nefarious shit, stil scamming people. So those 50k came back easily.
True, but a bad average review will at least scare some customers and cost them business. No doubt they're still scamming.
that is, if the story is true. it seems far too fake. op was concerned about 750$ travel expenses but not the 1k deposit and never lawyered even tho they def had the money to if they have the ability to purchase a new car every 3-4 years
@@niyakii6205 From another comment thread on this video apparently they had paid the deposit via CC (which they got refunded via the CC company) and did not want the lawyers fee and time with the cost being above small claims.
The last one: Mom was probibly looking for everyone to stare at her kids while she five finger discount a few items.
How would lipstick testers work in post covid era? How old is that last story?
The stick getting tested don't get put back on the conveyor belt.
... Heh. that first story gives me an idea. There's a FYE store near where I live, they sign you up for their *paid* loyalty membership without telling you it's a paid monthly membership, and then they make it a NIGHTMARE to cancel. This company has been sued for this before and they're still doing it. I also work from home so I have a lot of time on my hands. ..... >:)
First story, why are there people buying cars every 4 years? Do they like burning their money or do they buy unreliable cars or it is that they drive so much their car just falls apart? Cars are expensive. I dont understand.
It's possible that this individual either buys his cars outright or just gets bored in having the same car for long periods of time.
Remember that OP said that buying in the neighboring state nets a 3 a 5K difference. So if we take the 4 year depreciation cost, then the fact that a second hand car will be more expensive in his state (higher base starting price = higher second hand value). He is probably selling them at a slight loss but in return gets a brand new car every 4 years. So he skips on most costs like tires/breaks/... and other things that will start to appear around that time.
Hold a car too long, and sure, you can get another 4 a 8 years out of it, but at that point you may start to enter the major repairs (clutch, whatever) range. And that same car has then much more heavily depreciated (way older and more kms). Car second hand sales values are not a smooth line down, its a curve downwards, high value at start, but as age + km rack up, that drops a lot more.
The same rule applies to IT, if you keep holding your computer parts too long, they are harder to sell and the depreciation a lot more. But time it right, you can snap up some deals on new hardware, but still sell your old, and upgrade to a new generation for a small up-fee.
They trade it in to keep the warranty current.
Something I just learned about recently when I bought my current car (or maybe it's just what the dealer told me 🤣), you need to buy a car, with monthly payments, every so often in order to maintain your credit rating (i.e. it proves you can still afford payments and be reliable about it).
@scooterbond1970 that’s not true, that car salesman is trying to get you to keep buying cars. You could easily just pay for mortgage or pay off your student loans to improve your credit.
How often do l make jokes about chemistry? Periodically.
HeHe.
Good one! Thank you for the chuckle.

I leave tons of 1 star reviews for dealerships 😂 whenever I go on Craigslist or Marketplace looking for a specific car, lets lay a 2000 Corvette, and they tag all other Chevys so you see Tahoes, Sonic, Cavaliers, I go find the dealership and leave a 1 star telling them to stop spamming the piss out of these sights, usually I become a rather popular review lol
The last story: That entitled mother totally got what she asked for. I will never understand people who squirt out kids but don't teach them boundaries, that the word no is a complete sentence or any sense of accountability. Make no mistake, that lazy entitled mom wasn't upset that someone essentially did what she was unwilling to do. She was mad that someone horned in on her territory and her ego was bruised. You ever notice how every entitled parent out there treats their kids like property rather than their blood or the being that they created and should love? That's what I've noticed. I've also noticed that entitled parents seriously expect everyone around them to cater to them just solely because they decided to make the life decision of having children. Life does not work that way!
"father, I don't see why you feel the need to NAIL me down here, perhaps you will let me have a last supper with my 12 closest friends before you wish to drag me into a public court."

Dabney your irony quote "A church screwing over a carpenter" was epic!
I love that the clergyman tried to say "you're hindering God's work." No, just hindering the devil pretending to be God who's clearly influenced you into becoming a scammer.
Said devil being a demon named Mammon…much like a good fraction of Yankee churches.
I got blown away when the first story had OP saying they buy a new car every 2-3 years. WTF kinda money are they making.
I worked fulltime/salaried at one place. About a year after I left, they wanted to hire me on as a consultant just for a day or two. Yeh, no worries. I was to swap some cards in a server, ie, bring it down, disassemble, swap, reassemble, bring it back up again. I wanted to do it lunchtime (would take maybe an hour), but they were insisting to do it "after hours". Kfine. I show up on the appointed day a little before 5, figure I can wait off-the-clock for at least a little while. No one's making any moves to log off, etc. 15min later, nothing, 30min later, still nothing, so I go to the bosses (2) and ask them what's going on, when is everyone getting off so I can start the swap? _"Oh, Joe usually stays until 7, and Mike maybe until 8, but he's busy, so might be staying up until 9 or so."_ What?!? I ask if they're serious, ie, why tell me to show up at 5 when I won't be started until 9, and not finished until 10?? No answer. So I just shrug and say, okay, it's on your dime... _"Uhhh, what?"_ I then pointed out that we had a deal for pay by-the-hour. They had me come in at 5. If I have to put in 4hrs just sitting around and waiting, I'm *STILL* on-the-clock, and that's time they *STILL* have to pay me for. They went around telling everyone to get off and go get something to eat or whatever, and in just minutes I was able to start. Funny how that works...
We really need to start cracking down on the nepotism in the workplace tbh to get things back to how jobs should function. Someone with 10 years of experience in retail, with a college degree in business shouldn't lose applying for a manager position of a store, just cause frank applies with 2 years cashier experience at an unrelated store, but is close buds with district manager.
What you described is called cronyism. Nepotism is when a new hire is part of an employer's family.
@@JamesDavy2009 Unless I missed something its referencing favoring friends or family in general.
Story 1 sounds so fishy
You sign 2 contracts (1 per each state) and you refuse to sue them with a lawyer’s wet dream?
The Eclipse is today!
Edit: ? instead of !
as far as I am concerned... Since they already signed documents, this is vehicle theft against the OP in story 1.
As far as the church thieves story goes, as soon as you have a document proving they threatened you in any way, that's proof enough to everyone else that the church, not you, screwed up. All I had to say was, "my prior boss made me sign an NDA under duress after I did not appreciate their response to my (traumatic loss of a child's life), so I can't tell you how badly their response to my situation impacted my mental health. If I say anything more, it could risk my career, safety, and legal standing." and literally everyone hates them now lol. A mental health wellness center should never be putting employees in a situation where the employee has to sign an NDA because the boss responded poorly to a personal crisis. They lost the $20k/month in pure profits I made them, and several of my clients. I heard they're considering shutting down one of their business locations now (they were already stretched too thin, and hemorrhaging employees, so noone was putting in the work to keep things running).
How the hell much was OP making in the 3rd story as their normal salary to merit a $200k severance package?
Given that it's a specialty position? Quite alot I'd say.
I had a similar bait and switch story, except it was for something under $1000, and I only had to drive an hour. But I was still furious after driving an hour only to be told we don’t have that but we have some other good options. I even asked on the phone- you are positive you have it? Because I am going to drive an hour.

as an ICT Specialist and havgin done this for amny of my cutomers it costs between 1-2K to get rid of a bad google review. this process is done through the courts where the company with the bad review uses a company that deals with google and these reviews are treated like slander, and since most ppople dont show up to defend their bad review in court they get taken down in 99% of the cases.. so ontop of that 50k they would have spend double that removing the bad google reviews..
the price i have is from 2023 so might be a little less depending on when the story happened.

i really hate malicious compliance. organizations and people should really start cracking down on it. its disgusting, its immature, and its not at all anything a remotely intelligent person should be doing.
Buying a car every 3-4 years sounds insane. It's not a PC that gets outdated quickly. A car should last you at least a decade. That OP is either crazy or rich or both.
Yep
A little extra context for anyone who doesn't know, I'm pretty sure Joseph of Nazareth, husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a carpenter and Jesus himself would likely have been taught carpentry himself as a child. So yes, it is extra ironic that a church would screw over a carpenter
That is not German law - not even close. just for example being paid in cash: it would have been on the church to proof they paid in cash, because if they did they would have received an invoice confirming their payment.
rSlash, Your videos always make me happy, so I subscribed!
Hi, auto dealer here, op handled his situation poorly. Bait and switch is an illegal practice in, I believe, every state. Even still, breach of contract IS. If pursued in court, which could have been done without a lawyer and in his home state, he would most likely have gotten the deposit, travel, hotel, food, all tripled then interest at ~9% for the time they DIDNT pay the judgment
this. first story has to be fake because no one is doing what op did.

Story #1: I had a similar situation. The dealer refused to show me the vehicle that I had planned on buying. They were sure I would just get some other car priced thousands of dollars more. They called me for weeks.

I love how you say “how dare you!”.
i think the story at 8:25 mightve been told before on this channel, it sounds really familiar
Story #2: Yeah.. Sadly that's true. That's why you don't use an account that's tracable to YOU when you leave a review in Germany! The principle of "innocent until proven guilty" applies to reviews also. And if you can't proove, that they did, what you say in the review it's considered slender. But for heavens sake! It makes me sick to see, that in Germany, that's allegedly a secular state the (cath.) still has too much influence in the government. It makes me sick, thinking about that, in Germany, ONLY the catholic church is allowed to punish their priests for crimes as they see fit! It's some medieval law that allows the church to deal with (e.g. Ch1ld m0l3st3rs) as THEY see fit and the government can't or won't do anything about it! It's just sick, when you know, that they can hurt kids and get away with it because of an medieval law!
So the first one is a lawsuit for breach of contract, no?
A selfish lying member of the clergy? I am SHONKED lol.

Now screenshot their offer to pay for 5-star reviews and share with Google. Offering compensation for positive reviews can result in hefty fines as it violates Googles terms and conditions.
The first story is, uhm… fishy to say the least
Wow, the guy that left a bad review is lucky. I left a bad review for a company that jerked me over and since some of the communication was verbal and he held the security footage and could trash it, I could only prove part of it. He threatened to take me to court. I posted a new one with the things I could prove after I contacted them back and gave them another chance to remedy the situation and they ghosted me. Ironic, since that's basically what they did the whole time they had my computer, but suddenly had the time to call an hour after they got a yelp review.
Why would Bait and Switch OP believe the company would actually pay for the fake reviews?
