Rover 800 Immobiliser Bypass Trick - No More EKA Entries!

- I have a feeling this car is going to be one of the best features of this channel. I took it on last year and ended up regretting it because of its immobiliser issue. A clever young chap called James came up to offer his services to help the channel and found the EKA code with his knowledge and computer. This didn't work, and I was happy for this car to go onto to be someone else's project or even just parts. Then last week the code worked and it started!
Today's task was to get rid of the immobiliser altogether, but I didn't think this was even possible with s Rover 800
Thank you to my bearded, beer drinking friend called Steve for the solution on this car

Yass!!! Intro nonsense ! ❤
😁
I wonder how many cars get scrapped for immobiliser problems? That was the fate of my 2004 Vauxhall Combo van.
Lots! and its sad. But hopefully now this will Help save a few 800s. I have had my car for 20 years used as my daily driver! Only discovered this out about 3 months ago after being told from Garages even on the Rover 800 forum! you need to have it reprogrammed sent off otherwise cant use it without the fobs, nowone seemed that interested in helping me, felt like i was being (fobbed off ) Literally) . Just thought to myself one day! The T16 Engine is very popular used in other cars , like kit cars smaller Rovers etc and they run fine! without relying on any immobiliser ?? First i started hacking the loom but had no joy. So then moved on too other area's and got lucky. Im Happy to share it i don't mind helping people, even tho I felt i wasn't getting much help if it helps keep these cars on the Road thats what's important! im Happy. 🙂
Get a second key cut and leave it in the ignition barrel.
That's not the answer though, and it doesn't need to be
Yes i did this for over a year, but as it is my daily driver! i realised its not that practical also, didn't want someone to take it! which would make my insurance invalid. Thats when i had a dig around tried other stuff out.
Just as a point of interest, if you have electric window problems, if it's not the switch pack, try removing the fuse box printed circuit board and going over all of the solder joints with a soldering iron and feeding in a little bit of fresh solder. Disconnect the battery 20 minutes prior so as not to deploy airbag! It's not usually the window control unit under the passenger seat. I'm told that the window switch packs are also used on certain saab models of around the same age.
Yes I know about the fusebox issues and I am looking forward to the frustrations that will bring 😄
@@ProjectNigel Nothing like that eureka moment when you actually get the windows to work properly! At least it's easy to get the PCB out to solder it.
I have the same problem with my Rover 416, can you explain what you did to by pass the alarm.
Cheer John Wilson
Exciting! 😄
Brucie's wind chimes are enjoying a prominent spot, do you think they need a name? Perhaps even a name for each character?
Slightly annoyed cat-face was a surprise! 😺
Slugs are 'orrible! How did you get a Rover 800 covered in them ? Did you wash the bonnet with a bottle of beer?
Marvin the paranoid android would I'm sure be delighted at closing the gate! 😁
Lots of little amusing touches in today's video, not least of which the snappy sharp toothed red jump lead! 🐊😄
Oh no, the little gift bit was deleted!🙁 Never mind, it was all a happy outcome and we can look forward to the gift next time!😀
That cat was actually super-friendy 😊
Watching from Turkey! 😅
Thank you
Yes!.
Yes indeed!
I've removed a chip on one of my l series zr ecu's that apparently makes it act the same as an unlocked ecu haven't tried it yet though 😂
Time wasters should be sent to purgatory, a thousand years for every minute squandered !
Funny slug fact. Our skin burns them due to the ph levels
That IS a fun fact!
I used to tell my daughter when she was little that she should have empathy for slugs as they were just homeless snails 😁 also that Robert plants song big log was a man battling with constipation needless to say she always questions me now 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Big log. Hahahaha
Paul are 6pu going to be flogging t shirts and cups ect ?
My friend Jonny is onto that but getting enough orders is proving tricky
@ProjectNigel it would be nice I suppose it will happen paul as the channel grows and grow it will your a honest genuine man and very funny
Could you get a other programmable remote?
They're difficult to find
They are not available Anymore you can send off the CCU with your key to a company that will chip match them to more modern fobs & key. But A ur at risk of losing your bits in the post. B its costs around £150 .
@@steveperry2063 £150??!! Good Lord, that is expensive!
Is British Mail that awful?
And why does one have to suffer because they have a Rover as a modern classic?
Atrocious!
@frothe42 Well firstly by removing your CCU sending both that & the key away , if they get lost! your car is useless as good as scrap (Risky) At end of the day its just less hassle to disconnect/disarm it and use the key as normal the less Electrics to go wrong on these cars the better!
Did you hear about that young guy (Sam Ballard) who died after eating a slug for a bet? He contracted an infection in his brain because it was carrying rat lungworm - ended up in a coma, paralysed from the waist down and a few years later he was gone - I'd say the hand sanitiser was perfectly rational, they're horrible things.
I haven't heard about that, but thanks for telling me. I feel even more horrid now
😂@@ProjectNigel sorry, my wife has a phobia of them so I get detailed updates on everything they can possibly do to you and things they have done throughout the course of history.
Is brake cleaner good for cleaning ovens then ?
very effective at stopping you from being asked to clean the oven ever again 😂
Actually commercial vehicle detergent in a high concentration works very well at taking the grease off. The hard baked stuff is a bit more of a challenge.
🤣🤣
Slugs are horrendous its the leafs that take the Michael all over car this time of year is Tommy tank
I found one in the kettle once
@@ProjectNigel I bet that put you rate off my old dog once ate one that was costly at the vets antibiotics and other tablets they are poisonous to dogs
Can you bypass the 5as system🙏
I believe it's just a matter of unplugging the switch in the driver's door latch. It has to be unarmed first though
@@ProjectNigelNot sure that works, because even if you leave the car unlocked (so not signalling the 5AS from the lock microswitch), after turning the engine off , it'll arm itself after a while. Then it needs the EKA code or fob signal to disarm. Had recent experience of that on my 45.
Oh, and SLUGS 🐛!
Immobilizers seem to be a European/UK thing. They also don't seem to age well either.... What a pain in the backside 😠.
Not a pain Anymore.
