A little while back I hot offered this V8 SD1. I didn't really want it, but now it's on my truck, put there with a forklift, now I have to get it off...
James “Nitrosilvia” would make very good use of this car, I think. Maybe you should give him a shout, he loves these things and nothing seems to phase him.
Not seen one of these since me mate had one in 1993, was blue with a tan interior, we smoked a lot of weed in that thing lol, any ways, been 29 years since I've seen one until yesterday pre-evening when a white one flew past us on the Buckman Brow A595 in Cumbria, what a sight and what a sound, poetry in motion
I never knew how much I wanted a green on green SD1 with a bodykit until I saw this one. I don't want this one, I've inflicted quite enough welding on myself to be getting on with for a while yet. I hope someone rescues it though, what a fabulous thing it could be.
The Rover SD1 was a groundbreaking hatchback shape when initially launched as the 3500 in 1976 replacing the more staid P6. The 2300 and 2600 came the following year. Even today with only about 320 left it does not look too old fashioned.
I worked with a guy who was a former mechanic with the then Austin Rover dealers on Jersey in the Channel Islands. He told me that they used to spend roughly 2 days on every new SD1 PDI in an effort to get the car to work.and hopefully stay together...
I had an a 2600S in the same colour with the Green interior, a manual transmission version. The paint was called Opaline. It was a rare colour, especially with the Green interior. It was an X reg. That is only the second SD1 I've seen with Opaline and the Green interior. I do prefer the V8 with a manual box, I owned both series one and two manual V8s. I wish I still had them.
I know of a rather attractive man near Donk who would love this. He restored two SD1s recently and has just fitted me a new kitchen so i have no objections if he wants to purchase another car
I absolutely adore SD1''s. Especially S2 with a V8 but even I can see you got your work cut out here. I wish you the best of luck. Any SD1 saved has to be worth the effort right?
Makes my old Hillman Avenger look solid. But there's something so nice about the shape of an SD1. What's sad of course is back in the day, much better examples would have been sent to the crusher.
The hearing thing mustard, buy yourself an "otovent". They're a brilliant thing, and daft thing to use. It made my lads ear pop so loud it was like a crack from a bullwhip
That’s a superb purchase. Been off the road since June ‘89, incredibly. I’d love to know the story as to why it was parked up. Trivia: if you’d turned left at the traffic lights at 7:14, my nan and uncle used to live down there before it was all knocked down and rebuilt.
Top marks for improvisation, that Rover would make a lovely car but the bodywork is a long long way gone... I once had a colleague who ran one in the late 80s and described the bodywork like chain-link fencing....
I just wish we had rusty cars like that over here(*Sarc*/Lol). There's one over here a 1981 'N.A.D.A'-Spec(American)Car which has been for sale for months. It's tucked under it's own Awning AND it's own Car Cover. Sole new in New Jersey in '81 and than driven to Arizona in '84. Last driven in 1988 with only 65-Thousand Miles from new. I think he wants $75.00 for it now(!!).
It’s not a massive restoration job that. Just a bit of T-Cut and furdling. Let me know when it’s fully roadworthy and concourse d’Elegance ready and I’ll swap it for Sir Arnold Robinson. AND buy you battered sausage and chips, complete with curry sauce on the day of the swap over. I know, I’m a fool to myself….

Just what I was thinking.
It's not my car though, I am just looking after it.
He's commented actually, further down, asking what the long term plans are.
I am as going to say the same thing to lol

Yeah well it certainly looks cool

Agreed.
Don't forget a cover to stop it rusting ;) 😂
Someone had to make a snidy remark i suppose.

Rare colour combo. It's deffo saveable.
Whenever I moan about fitting a sensor or polishing out a scratch, I’m going to think about that car and thank my lucky stars!
Always stay calm and it remains fun 😄
All I can say is, good luck with the project. Thats going to take some work 👍🏼
She needs to be saved nitro silva is the man.
Nitrosilvia would like this!
LOL I was just thinking that! He's got a great YT channel.
Yes yes I would!
I have an 820 if you're interested 😅
@@ProjectNigel dont tempt me!!!

I must come to Donk again soon. Unfortunately this car isn't for sale. Certainly not yet.
I can see a no-nonsense sales pitch coming up! Rover SD1, good tyres, bit scruffy, usual condition for age! 😃
I would like to do that video
You could also say its never been welded !
... and would benefit from a good polish!
I absolutely adore SD1''s. Especially S2 with a V8 but even I can see you got your work cut out here.

I won't actually be working on this car, at least I don't think I will be

I love the Avenger 😊
Great video capt 👏
Thank you 🙂

Wow 😄

Although not a purchase...
All the way to stoke to get sd1. That's rotten lol great video I reckon you could easy shift it.😀🤔
I could if it was mine
Love a sd1 sich a good touring car

Great entertaining video as always. 👍
Thank you 🙂
My dad used to wax lyrical about this car. He never had one, couldn't afford it.
They were great at the time, now they are just cool
I really enjoyed every second of that .
Thank you 😊
@@ProjectNigel I really did my mate 👍
I hope you never recover me with AA Relay 😂😂
😄
Poor tree. Shame that rear wheel wouldnt budge. That looked like hard work mate. Well done anyway. Get a crane i reckon 😁.
The tree got pulled out last year by a car with no wheels, I thought this might be easier 😆
Good luck .lots of work but nice restore to 4 litre engine would be nice.
I won't likely being doing anything with it
Rita Sue and Bob too.
That's the one

Never hope for rust 😆
My initial thoughts ... SD1 ignores TPO - gets ASBO but no MOT - AKA it's FKD.

Trust you to say that 😆
To say that this vehicle is a heap of junk is an under statement lol
It certainly isn't flip car
Super rare bay leaf green interior. What are the long term plans for the car?
Well, they're not my plans to make. This car has basically to the yard for somewhere to stay. The owner is happy for me to make a video of it.
The long term plans are nothing to do with either of us James! :P
@@ProjectNigel Ok cool, glad it is in safe hands
What are you doing with it Paul? I might need some bits if it’s not being mended
I am just hanging on to it for the moment.
@@ProjectNigel nice backbox in the boot there…. Would be a shame if someone made a reasonable offer and purchased it from you ;)
nitrosilvia is an sd1 restorer on you tube, he may take it, dinnie scrap it
The no nonsense sale pitch video may be rather long.
Yes 😅
Talk about a long way round, not even scenic ! Still, it's a day out.
i love working on them cars.?
I thought that was the shell garage at shaw.
My initial thoughts... I BUY IT! is it for sale?
You can't buy it 😅
@@ProjectNigel il contact Gregg and tickle him. The worse he can say is no its win win for him who doesnt like a tickle?
See this is you tube gold , take the covers off it and do a video the history ect , could only boost view with the owners permission .
Are cars boring ?
Same again scrap
Thats 1 rover that will never drive again ,im sure you could find a better specimen than that what theyve paid you to take
Looks like theres no engine aswell
That's only good for parts surley
That would be my opinion
