For context; if those 500 24hr-peak players all spend $1, SSKTJL will make more money than BG3 will from those 90000 players in that same time window.
Here's some fun math:
BG3 sales for those 90000 players = $5.4 million
$5.4 million/500 SSKTJL players = $10800
$10800/1 month playtime = $360
$360/$10 purchases = 36 purchases
That means, if those 500 players all make a $10 purchase each day they play the game for a month, WB makes the same money as the flat BG3 sales. Double if they do it for 2 months. 1-star game vs a 10-star game. That's the power of live service. You don't need to convince that many people to like your sh!tty game. You just have to trick a few dumb people to give you money.

Nobody involved with the Borderlands movie has ever touched the games and it shows.
2 was a masterpiece ..I played the others during FTP Steam weekends and meh..is a factory. Games don't make good movies
I give it another month or two before they dump Suicide Squad onto GamePass and PS+ in a desperate attempt to inject some players into the game before they completely can it later this year.

For those who know of the 3 amigos from Top Gear/The Grand Tour. Jermery Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond these 3 lads have a great chemistry that has lasted 20 plus years.

The Borderlands Casting made me legit sad.
its like dragonball evolution + resident evil tv series' weird casting choices+confusing story adaptations combined.
Claptrap voice change and Kevin Hart are the only issues with the casting, overall I'd say that's pretty good. Claptrap voice change wouldn't be so bad if they toned down the potty jokes and made it more abuse jokes. What I really don't like was the Guardians of the Galaxy mixtape music when Borderlands should be using Western music.

Physical matters because you actually own a copy, digital means youre buying the license to play on whatever platform you bought it on.
Exactly why companies are trying so hard to stop physical media
yea and when you're done playing; your physical disc can sit and collect dust and follow you around for decades because you think it has value even though you're not going to play the game ever again.
Even still, you have to be careful when buying physical copies for some games. A lot of game disks doesn't have the full game on it and requiresconneting to the internet to download the rest to fully play it. If the servers go down then all you're left with is a worthless pieces of plastic.

And who's to say they won't have the console companies release a patch update that renders discs unreadable or otherwise limited?
dont forget getting rid of physical media also cuts out reselling and secondary markets

@@CheficideNot my primary problem with going digital, and PC versions are typically cheaper than console versions as well, but that’s a big fuckin problem as well. Don’t know why it showed up but I saw CoD Ghost on Xbox the other day and it was $100. Fuckin ridiculous.

Digital release-physical wishlist to cart, online multiplayer physical within a year, all physical couch-co-op singlplayer post final DLC/patches released especially when DRM service online games are about to go offline, just sell physical no DRM a week before removal as final collectors edition.
Love this idea. I mean, we’re all beta testing new games at this point, anyways. BUT I’d want all data on this disc, with no digital ties (never gonna happen but hey).
Some games do get complete editions like what Atlus does, so it's still kinda there

I remember the release day like the back of my hand. Took my dog on a huge walk in the morning so he was knackered. Bought my other half a bunch of snacks and left her with the TV and basically said don't expect to see me in the next 5 days. Beat the game and immediately replayed it. Recently finished it again and hyped for the DLC.

I don't understand the people who want physical game discs. They think it gives them permancence....but most discs can't fit the complete game and the disc is just a hyperlink to the game download and all games need patches anyway

What if instead of making a disk version when the game releases,
they release a disk version when they stop developing updates for a game.
It comes with all updates, no DRM (or that old school cd key drm), a bypass for you needing to be logged in with an account, etc.
That would be on the developers though , they been developing a game for years they release it digitally they update it and just when they are about to swtich to a new project they say now get it on to physical media. But it also comes down to cost thats all it is cost of physical media has tripled in the last 10 years from the disc to duplicates to shipping to even just the cost of plastic boxes and no one wants that cost.

Hollywood is getting so desperate that they are taking games that we love and trying to turn them into a box office profit. Either come up with some fresh new ideas and quit remaking stuff that already exists (Disney), or just hire directors with actually storytelling talent
They could always link the banned name to the position. That way you only get prevented from making yourself in the game, if you have the same name of the player that opted out and you fill the same position that player does.
Two things messed it up for me... Xbox Game Sharing (Home Xbox), which is only a small part of it, and the fact that getting the disc is pointless if I have to download a 20-60GB update i.e. the game on release (if using the disc) so sadly as much as I hate the fact the physical is looking like it is going away... I buy digital because the cards have been stacked against physical media for ages now.

Can't speak for console, but PC physical games usually include a code to redeem on the digital platform regardless.
Since what happens on PC tends to filter down to consoles eventually, outside Nintendo, I imagine they'll all go that way sooner or later.
The publishers have definitely won in that regard.
Personally I'm fine with it. Less trash to either toss or store somewhere. If they save a buck, so be it.
yea i'm kinda indifferent too with gaming industry relying entirely on digital distributions. because the patching stuff thing which is very important to fix many broken stuff in games that were launched in early access-ish conditions and the possibilities to get new exciting contents easily that weren't available to physical copies. if the studio of my favorite games lose those games' license or something then they should just do the customer offline game ownership thing that larian did with baldur's gate 3.
EA can only ban you from making those licensed players if the settings for the specific body parts were already put in place ahead of permission.

I don’t buy discs anymore what’s the point I’m if you still have to download 100 gigs on your hard drive and also you have to do a day one patch on a lot of games.
Borderlands- Yes all the adult main characters are to old for the roles and I’m sure this will be a one off.
NCAA 25 will just be last-year's Madden with a different Offseason menu'ing.

No point in having physical discs for a lot of games now anyway. There's just too much storage space games take up now, although I read something about a scientific breakthrough with discs that allows a disc to hold up to 200 terabytes of data, though it's only enterprise use for now tho the developers stated it could go consumer as well
I get Justice League being hard to make a combat centric faithful game. But what about Young Justice? That'd be fun as hell.

I heard the PSVR2 on PC still requires you to own a PS5 you basically stream your PC games to your PS5 kinda how steamlink works on the Quest3.
There's already barely any xbox physical games in stores as it is. On new multi platform releases most places get maybe a handful for Xbox. Itll be sooner than later before they go all digital, especially with gamepass being a thing and most games end up on there at some point anyway

Yeah I pretty much don't buy physical copies anymore. Too lazy to go out and do it, but I always have liked to have the physical copies.
