Yeah charging a corporation 9 million in fines for an illegal business practice that made them 400+ million, is basicly the state saying thats fine as long as we get our cut.

This will continue to happen because this world worships and loves money. I think Wizards of the Coast might be doing something similar with MTGA because I've played it over the years and I swear the 'rng' for who it matches you to play against in a draft (which costs actual money) and the land distribution in your deck is fine tuned. Not too sure but I worry cause I know it is possible and as far as I'm aware totally legal. I used to rarely get land screwed, felt like playing with real cards. The last few years I swear it's way more frequent. They could really fine tune the shit out of their game to earn more money, I know it...

I think the ship build and complexity more than makes up for it. They put enough into ship combat that I feel zero need to go running around with half ass sword when I have cannon at my disposal.

I faintly remember when Nexon gave out laptops and phones in some Maplestory related event over 10 years ago.
Some of the listed winners were accounts that were permabanned ages ago. In other words the staff likely just pocketed the prices and picked random accounts to list as winners.
I remember Nexon America being voted as the worst company in the world on some big website, too.
To clarify the Maple Story news, cubes are used to re-roll potential/stat lines on gear and are purchased with IRL money. They changed it so that specific combination of stat lines were unobtainable and told people nothing had changed, along with other changes like lowering of tier up rates (rarity of stat lines like epic, legendary etc). Funny thing is the Korean playerbase were compensated (pretty measly compensation), but no news for overseas Maple Story servers, we actually have no idea if overseas servers were manipulated either since there isn't any FTC committee for games like the Koreans have.
Edit: Oh yeah people also discovered patents from Nexon that was related to RNG manipulation based on factors such as your geological location, time of day and even ridiculous things such as how many friends you had on your buddy list.

30min to a 1hr on a afk kick is way too long when you have server capacity issues.
30 minutes should be the max. Who the fuck cares if you gotta go walk your dog, take a shit or grab something to drink/eat? Log off and go do it. I get so sick of seeing a queue when I try logging onto a game that has one. I see it and just shake my head, thinking about all the trash out there hogging space because they're lazy. I hate sitting there and watching a lengthy queue number (very) slowly dwindle down over an hour or more. It got to the point that I just avoid games like that.
Just a heads up to anyone that isn't aware. At 11:12 they talk about setting an alarm to cancel Ubisoft+. You can cancel at anytime so it doesn't renew and you will retain Ubisoft+ access until the renewal date. This will save you from having to set alarms or potentially get billed from forgetting.
I remember when Hell Divers was first announced and shown everyone was like “Eh, it’s another generic shooter” which probably made the company to decide to keep it low on servers. This and Palworld are both the surprising games of 2024 so far.

When it comes to “fines” and monetary punishments, it’s extremely important to have punitive damages added to the fines. These are often calculated by determining the amount of profit that has come from the illegal action and that then gets added to total amount of the fines. I don’t know if S. Korea doesn’t have anything like that or where it was specifically that they were sued, but hopefully punitive damages can be pursued.
Often the problem is these are fines alone and "punitive damages" are capped because these corporate crimes are not considered "crimes", but rather "overreach" so when the laws were made to moderate them they figured the kind of business doing these things would be underwater and unable to pay "excessively"... The problem is healthy businesses in gaming shouldn't need monetization in the first place, so now they all do it to unhealthy degrees and people with gambling addictions are easily hooked into the market making this more profitable and socially acceptable.

@@Lorijenken Lol, it had its glorious peak and bustling fps community for quite awhile. It was me and one of my friends childhood games. I'd always go over his house and he'd be playing Combat Arms. But unfortunately, like a lot of games I enjoyed back then, it got overran with hackers at one point in almost every lobby, making the game unplayable. It's the reason I know damn near every gun in the entire world lol.

Skull and Bones feels like Windward 3 instead of Black Flag 2. A graphically good indie game about sailing in a relatively small world for mostly fighting pirates, robbing merchants, moving cargo and searching for treasure.
Aww Joe, I'll watch the Suicide Squad review. I enjoyed the Starfield review more than playing the actual game. I enjoyed the Rings of Power reviews more than actually finishing the series. I enjoyed the Witcher Netflix review more than actually giving season 3 a shot.

Does nobody remember the "Mind Drive" from the Late 90's, early 2000's? It was demoed by some major computer retailers. I wanna say I played with it at a Future Shop. It featured two video games, and also a paint program, that you could "control with your mind." The "controller" was some sort of pulse oximeter finger clip sensor, like they have at the doctors office. Apparently it didn't take off but yeah. Probably too expensive.
The issue with the fines isn't the value . It's the fine goes into government money, not back to the people. They would need to sue to get their money back.
Hell divers 2 kick time is perfect, no more waiting to get in game lol, 15 minutes is perfectly more than enough time to go use the washroom or eat quick

Battlefront class collection I thought only had cross gen not crossplay
Helldivers is the perfect example of a Dev team that had a clear vision and good leadership. Skull and Bones is the opposite. Confused, disorganized and moronic visions along with NO leadership it seems on any way.

I played helldivers 2 for the first time this weekend and only had one time when i had to wait for like 1 min to enter the game.
I'm assuming Ubisoft was hoping for about 11 to 15 million copies sold, based on what Assassin's Creed Black Flag made.

-- Also, the game is Not Cross-platform, but Is Cross-Gen.
-- BF1 will have Jabba's Palace dlc map
-- BF2 will have the 2 Bespen maps, 2 Rhen Varr maps, and Yavin 4: Arena
- We will have Hunt, Assault, Cap. the Flag modes too in BF2
-- Collection is done by Aspyr. Same studio that did Tomb Raider 1-3 Remaster

Hey guys! Long time fan.
I’ve been a Maple player for a long time. The Nexon scam content covered in the this video is literally just scratching the SURFACE of the problems. One of many. The game is literally on fire right now. I’ve not spent any money on the game in the last 5 years, but still play it casually. The game is great and does not need to be paid to win. The most recent controversy is that Nexon is getting caught for their greed (something the entire community knew about) and turning the free to play version of the game into their evil gacha version of the game. There is SO much to cover that I don’t even think a 30 minute video would cover it. It is the most evil corporate greed scheme I have ever seen in the gaming space. It’s so interesting, but you do need to know the context around the game.

Lets be honest, maplestory players knew about this over a decade ago, but nothing could be done, especially since the majority of players were under 18 back in the day.
Just be aware that there is some controversy surrounding the Aspyr remaster of the battlefront games. As much as I want it to be a slam dunk I'm nervous after hearing these things.
They have bloated the size to 50gb by using AI to upscale the textures and videos (so bare minimum effort), split screen is only 2 people instead of 4, there is no cross platform multiplayer, and most of the new content they are adding in is actually just stolen directly from a modder that did all the work for free for the pc community such as porting over the heroes and creating new assets for them from the dlc that existed only on the original xbox.

When it comes to companies having to pay fines, it should be percentages and not a set amount. Because the set amounts don't really change with inflation but 10% of ill gotten gains will.

Your ship does NOT get tired, your sailors get tired from wrestling the sails against the wind. You know that without the stamina you'd STILL be complaining, just then it would be that you could never kill the smaller faster ships because they never slowed down and you can't catch them.
