Best innovation this season would be Ferrari running Leclerc's car with no radio.
It reduces the weight enough that they don’t need to get rid of the nice livery
Say what now? What did i miss?
@@tiesh9681 I too want to know
@@Egerit100 i guess this way Ferrarri wouldn't be able to give him messy strategic calls anymore...
You got me laughing hahaha
What i find the most interesting is RB using different Venturi Tunnel entry wings for each race. They are really focused on that area
Redbull is the most ambitious team in the grid, it makes a lot of sense they are so focused on racing..
Their strategist Hannah Schmitz said: In Redbull we run billions of simulation so we know what's the best possible strategy in every track condition, in every temperature, and in every scenario
Compared to Ferrari when Sainz said: I think you guys over analyzed Ferrari's strategy
Meaning they didn't analyze their strategy too much
I would imagine that the shortened wheelbase of this seasons cars lost a huge amount of front end areo grip compared to the longer wheelbase hybrid cars, and making the difference up with tech is probably why the car was significantly smoother then the field
About the knives advertised, they are at best mediocre knives marketed at premium prices. Kamikoto stamps them out of the same cheap steel a 10 dollar kitchen knife is stamped. They dull fast and could be considered a scam. If you're in the market for good knives do your research and don't buy these. And ofcourse find some other way to support driver61. If you think mediocre knives for a premium price + supporting driver61 is worth the deal though, go for it.
They are the greatest knives I've ever used and I am the head chef in a restaurant that has received 4 Michelin Stars.
All of these youtube ads are always scam. Never seen a good product advertised by a youtuber
Looked them up, They're a grand to $1200 for that 3 knife set. Trust me, you would never tell anyone you didn't love them. But don't chop my head off, I collect knives and I've paid way more than that for a single knife. It doesn't matter, it's what's important to you is all that matters.
@@brownass2 I don’t think a 4 star restaurant exists and plus I don’t think a chef of your level would name their CZcams account “Brownass2” you know?
@@brownass2 lol 😂 that's going to go over peoples heads
I’d wager Ferrari’s biggest down force this year has been by the teams management crew.😜
Oof
Down Force 😆.. the clever space
Not only, but the drivers as well. To win you got to decide who is the number one driver and team orders is important or you will lose.
True the team leave too much drag drivers can handle
I think the way Ferrari has realised they don’t actually need a strategy team is amazing. The way they just get the drivers to think of a strategy while driving at 200 kph is genius
3:51 i guess this really explains why red bull tend to have more sparks behind the car
All of the cars have it now basically
Didnt realize how RB had like almost everysingle innovation this season. Newey is a genius
It’s always fascinating to see how the rules are bent each year.
Bent? Bruh they bend it so hard its bout to snap
Glad to see other Shad fans pointing out how crap Kamikoto knives are.
Don't have the be slightest idea what you're babbling about.
@@trance9158 Shadiversity (a YTer who's primary content is about Medieval arms and armour) did a 1 hr video showing these knives to be:
1 - Made of cheap, crap steel.
2 - have bad edge retention.
3 - massively overpriced.
4 - outperformed by a $30 knife.
@@MajesticDemonLord personally I don't give a flying Fxxx PM the content provider to tell him that don't clutter up the actual post with your BS
What i like the most is the permanent brake activated system on the Mercs
This video made me respect Adrian newey even more
Nothing about Ferrari's sidepods? Is it due to they're not that interesting in how they work or nobody really understands how they work?
3:41
@@noodlesthe1st That's basically only talking about how they adjusted it with bits of Red Bull's design, but not their unique overall design choices
What’s interesting is that it appears that Aston Martin have changed back to a more conventional rear wing for Spa
Because the rolls on the hungary wing cause drag which is null in budapest but can be big in spa
The AM rear wing is for high DF tracks like Monaco and Hungary, not for low DF tracks like Spa or Monza
Aren't Kamikoto knives a scam? Shadiversity showed it, how he got one equivalent or better knife for free at an Ikea i think.
Yeah - disappointed to see the glowing pitch here
I think that Ferraris strategy system is by far the best innovation of the season. The engineers and the drivers tell each other the exact opposite of what they end up doing, so they fool everyone. Honestly I love Ferrari but this is insane
May I suggest you watch this and then re-evaluate your impression of Kamikoto knives - TLDR, they use inferior steel despite they’re assertions & saying it’s Japanese actually means nothing.
My favorite innovation has been Ferrari's intentional bad strategic decisions, which gave Red Bull far more win-force.
How's that innovation? Could've sworn I've seen it before
Stop inventing
Congrats to the winner of the amazing opportunity to drive an F1 car.
Thanks, informative.
🏆🏆🏆👍🇺🇲🙏
Thank you for sharing.
I believe Mercedes has a sneaky barge board setup where as it is spring loaded to lift it up and down into the floor with the option to raise it by turning it with a t socket on the right centre under the side pox.
(Don't actually buy Kamikoto knives, though.)
Kamikoto knives are borderline a scam. Made from the same cheap stainless steel that you might find in a $5 kitchen knife from a grocery store. They come sharp, but lose their edge quickly. They are not high quality, they're just normal knives in a fancy box and an insane markup. Just look it up if you don't believe me, there's tons of videos showing how shite they are. I highly recommend not taking them as a sponsor again.
Hope they ain’t Chinese steel. There’s plenty of news about how bad it is and how it’s failing in there buildings which is where I would expect the best of their steel to be used.
NOTE:
I’ve not tried them or even looked into them though so they might be really good for all I know.
But I wouldn’t buy them anyway.
"High quality Japanese steel."
Not sure what that actually means. Most steel these days is recycled, so it comes from all over the world. But traditionally, Japanese steel wasn't great, which is why katanas were folded so many times. It was an ingenious, but time-consuming solution to a quality problem.
@@sdam8080 They're made of the highest grade Chinisium ;) Like OP said and videos from other people that have analyzed the product, information on the company, etc, it's the same grade of stainless steel alloy you'd find in the cheapest kitchen knife made in China, it's one of the lowest and cheapest grades you'd find, good for mass manufacturing but doesn't hold an edge for long. The name kamikoto is just a made up japanese word where some Chinese marketing slapped two japanese words together, sounds japanese but it's not in any real vocabulary or makes any sense to a japanese speaker. And the Company and factory are in China.
@@musewolfman You need to learn how steel is really made. Almost every kind of steel is made with recycled steel (scrap) because steel is infinitely recyclable and the cooling effect of scrap is essential in the modern steelmaking process. This means nothing for the properties of the steel, because steel is always enriched with other metals that give it certain properties. After casting the steel you can change it's properties even further by hot or cold rolling it. There are a lot of ways to influence the "quality" of the steel, but scrap isn't one of them. If the scrap is somehow bad and introduces the wrong metal into the steel, the steel will simply be downgraded and sold at a lower price. This means Japanese steel can be just as good as German or American steel, it just depends on how it's made.
Furthermore, the reason Katanas and other blades were folded is because folding the steel during forging distributes the carbon molecules more evenly and exposes more of the metal to the surrounding oxygen so more impurities are burned off. Folding steel produces better blades and wasn't simply done to make the most out of inferior steel.
The only bad reputation Japanese steel has is that most older Japanese cars had terrible rust issues, which is simply down to cost cutting.
yes. all fine knives are showcased on OSB type plywood.
Lucky Ricky. I'd have seriously thought about going to the UK from New Zealand, where I live, for the chance to drive an F1 car.
Kamikoto - there's noting wrong with them as cheap knives go... but they aren't sold as cheap knives.
I wish Ferrari had done another big upgrade.... the strategists
Congratulation to Ricky on your upcoming F1 car drive. Alas I’m very sad there was only one winner 🙁
f1 cars should have F22 style rudders and movable wings surfaces in the front, middle and rear .
PLEASE do a video about Max's speed at Spa. A breakdown with your insight would be super interesting!
Adrian Newey truly is in a class of his own
@CrispinBell while i agree the ferrari is faster over 1 lap (quali) please dont cite goddamn AWS as your source. asking a hobo under a bridge would be more credible than AWS
If he's in a class all his own why couldn't he catch Mercedes for the last 7 yrs? RB had to literally hire 50+ Mercedes engineers to FINALLY become competitive.
@@trance9158 that had alot to do with a lack of engine power. Merc engines was the best until honda completed theirs in 2021 as a 2022 spec. Rb still won on circuits that wasn't affected by power
because Renault is an ass. I suggest to read his interview where Newey give insight of how that early hybrid era Renault almost make him walk away from F1.
Edit: wrong reply sorry
@@guywithoutaname1163 which highlights the backwards direction the team has design wise, who cares if your powerplant is clapped out and the fastest on the grid, in an environment where those components are so regulated that your fighting for minute differences. The real time advantage lies in the aero and the rules indicate this totally.
Is that the music from Donut Media's HiLow I hear in the background? 2:24
The Michelin tire company wanted to associate their tires with quality and exclusivity, thus the Michelin Stars.
The Guinness brewery created the record book to promote their product.

Greatest innovations of the 2022 Season
So far
F1's greatest innovation of the 2022 Season is Mercedes' Zero Pods design: it ends the boring Mercedes domination and let us really see how good Russell and Hamilton are as drivers.
Nice 👍
I don't really understand how the Mercedes sidepod minimizes drag when it is exposing the rear wheels to maximum airflow. They must produce much more drag than a larger sidepod.
Based on their math I would imagine the diffused airflow was supposed to not affect the rear end as much as it obviously has
Im surpised Alpine's A522 sidepod recieved no honorable mention? Its abit like Ferrari's sidepod but with a down wash through the "canal" in a straight line unlike Ferrari's which is contoured.
Tuned mass dampers need to make a comeback. I'm still mad about that one.
That, FRICS and inerters. They would make porpoising a non-issue.
I like your channel. Good info and concise... So why promote a crap knife maker from china? This is an overpriced scam. They use cheap steel, stamped out and sold for a premium. The only thing classy about kamikoto is their slick promo's. They are a scam and I am sorry that they managed to con you. I can't find the CZcams review but he compared a free chefs knife (worth roughly $10) and a kamikoto chefs knife. The free knife won hands down!
i think you're talking about shadiversity and his video on the scammy knives
So basically the video summarizes Adrian Newey's genius. 😎
is kamikoto for real, I thought they're not good knives
They aren't. Shadiversity made a 1 hour review of them. They are garbage.
Kamikoto makes knives with one of the worst grades of steel for knives. The steel comparable to a knife that was given away for free at (I want to say) Kohl's. Don't believe me? Shadiversity did an entire video on it. Their knives are overpriced and very low quality.
Just watched the Shadiversity video, same cheap steel you get from anywhere being sold at 10x+ the price.
those are knife made in china company using steel made by japan.
Idk, it seems like the FIA tries to kill out of the box thinking now.
Bring back the fan car!
This is just fascinating to me.
Firstly I know I am at the right chanel, because I cheffed in Fine Dining restaurants for thirty four years (you have a great new sponsor, man!), left Hospitality and went into defense aerospace. I work with a lot of carbon fiber. I do automated machine layups, wet layups, and a lot of other stuff; but what really impresses me with these F1 engineering teams is the rapidity that they are able to manufacture these new components for these cars. It's not that easy to make the tooling necessary to remake these panels. They might have a modular buck-type way of laying up these parts where they can add to a jig or two and have mods on the fly (Driver 61, a future engineering segment? IDK) Anyway the fact is this is pretty impressive, and I really want to know how they do it.
Disgusting amounts of money mostly
Would love to see you do a collaboration with kyle.engineers.
Those air flow gfx were awesome! but need more - And lets talk about why Ferrari seems to be so fast vs the RB?
I believe Ferrari are the faster car, but I think it's the driver of #1 who is better at managing tires over a run. If the red team hadn't fk'd up so bad this year on the pitbox, I don't think you would be talking about the RB quite the same.
But cool stuff! The B wing on the RB, look like whale flippers - How about shots of all 10 cars comparison, not sure it makes any difference, but sure is interesting, this armchair fluid dynamics class LOLOLOL!!!!
1:25
The Aston Martin armchair wing was a clever interpretation of the rules and had the media abuzz, but has it really had any positive effect? Haven't noticed any gains so far and no other teams seem to be looking at it...
No need for a high-downforce wing at Spa. They ran it at Zandvoort. Christian Horner said it was a "possible way to go" for Red Bull.
Aston is held back by the powerplant at this point, hence the tractor memes
@@coreygolphenee9633 Could be, but the best sign that the armchair wing doesn't really work is that no other team adopted it. Some gave it a try but quickly dropped it. It was the same with Mercedes Zero pods. It was a clever interpretation of the rules and in line with a decade-old trend in F1, but it didn't prove to a good aero option in the end. Merc stuck with it but other teams who imitated them quickly moved away from it.
And the Gold 🥇🥇🥇 goes to Sir. Adrian N. The undisputed king 👑👑👑 of the aero. Hats off Sir. The legend.
Not saying this to take anything away from him as he seems to of nailed it once again like he has many times before. But it certainly helped that he was a young and upcoming designer back in the day when ground effect was first introduced. I’m sure he would of had quite a lot of knowledge saved
Ferrari would have easily led both championships if they didn't have a horrible management
I love how you will say a sentence, say another sentence, then repeat the same sentence.
why ad is so large and in starting? After watching ad it makes not relevant to f1?Why?
what would you know?
Oh, I didn't see that this is an old video. I guess driver61 knows by now, that Kamikoto knifes are overpriced cheap knives.

Didn't see that Astin Martin wing in Spa
Probably because it was Aston Martin, not Austin.
Whaaaaat ? I want to drive a formula one car !! Pleaseeeee 😂
Tell us why mercedes just can't get their stuff together? Is it because their engines are just lacking on horsepower? I no longer see their issues as aero problems after the summer break.
Why are they using wet tires in the testing videos?
The track was sprayed in one of the tests for Pirelli to try out the wet tires
Ahh OK makes sense thanks!
ARGH my ears! i guess you fixed the volume from the last vid, thanks?!
I love you videos and don't have any problems with your other sponsors BUT. KAMIKOTO IS A SCAM. They use poor quality steel and the knives are worth at most $10.
Good call. It looks like Kamikoto is straight up lying about the fact they're a Japanese company who uses Japanese steel to make their knives. The parent company is actually based in Hong Kong and makes all of their products in China out of Chinese steel. Really shady business practices overall.
@@SoundShunter72 Shadiversity has a good video on them. The tl;dr is that they use low carbon steel that goes blunt quickly and yes, have a passing connection to being Japanese.
I wish creators would actually use and test products they promote and preferably by doing it via another way other than through the sponsorship. I mean they will always send the best of the best knowing it’s a sponsor. So get a mate to order so they think it’s a normal customer.
Promote only good products and services that you know work.
Otherwise you risk having your subscripers getting scammed or let down which then looks bad on you.
I hope you guys notice the comments and investigate about it as it does seems to be true from what I’ve read, as you do some wonderful content and it’s a shame to tarnish that like this.
Just so that people know the sponser of this video was found out to be a scam a month or 2 ago please dont spend money on the knifes when a cheap one lasts longer than the sponsor ones

I just like how they tried to do something completely different than the 9 other teams.
A weird sideplate is not an innovation, it's a loophole to a rule. It has no benefit outside of current F1 rules.
Doesn’t mean it’s not neat

Japanese steel is less good quality than European steel :(
Especially the Edo period steel. Besides knives aren't forged but cut from steel plates these days.

Too bad you give your voice to the scam artists that Kamikoto knives are. I would not take their sponsorship if I were you.
I don’t think AM rear wing is anything innovative…. That’s not a new concept, it has been there since many years. What AM have done is just find a loophole in the regulations to allow them to use that…
Innovations or not, the worst F1 season from memory. 9 laps for by far the fastest car to get from 14th to 1st then take the foot off the gas. Closer racing, what a joke. 23 boring races at tracks mostly not fit for purpose
