Really love this format. For some reason it really makes me feel like I'm riding there, especially for the first time.
Thats is what I am going for! Glad to hear its working and many thanks for watching.
Another perfect "A Closer Look"...the sound design is on point as usual. And NEVER an excuse from Whitesnake....a legit rider.
+V Cash cheers bro!
Dammit!! Now I need to buy a new bike and head back to Whistler. Thanks a lot Whitesnake!!
It certainly is a good one that DRC. Check out the other Closer Look videos. They will make you jones even more for it!
The 'Closer Look' format is excellent! Please do more of these!
Thank you this helped me with all the features. My first double black in whistler
Great job my friend. It's a great ride eh!
Loving these tutorials, such a cool way of showing the lines. I need them imprinted in the memory!
+nick heasman thanks man! Has been great learning how to ride the features and how to make the edits! Imprint!
Whitesnake2 keep them coming!
This video got me down the big Detroit Rock City roll down feature last week! Thanks so much for the videos.
Awesome video. Makes me wanna ride the park so much
+Brendan Sytsma man oh man... making these edits has been driving me crazy. I can't wait for the summer!
It's a little late to comment on this particular video, but I just found this series and I'm going through them all.
Your format, style and laid back (but analytic) approach rocks. Like James said, this makes me feel a bit like I'm there checking out a trail for the first time too. Solid work!
Many thanks for the comments! I hope to continue the series very soon!
I made a wrong turn and ended up halfway down the rock city roll far over to the left and I just went well fuck and commited and dropped the little thingy it was one of the more confidence inspiring experiences of that season.
Top notch! Love the "Closer Look" Series like everything on your channel!
I never knew you could hit Detroit Rock City right after Schleyer. I’ll have to do it
+Bugattilover39 indeed! It also flows well from Joyride or Upper Whistler DH or even Crank it Up!
Great pointers! Especially for me who hasn't been on Whistler yet. Planning to be there the weekend after.🤞
Informational and educational as always, keep it up bud.
Thanks for that! I learned a tonne making this video, both about the actual production of videos and about the trail. Its amazing how much you can pick up just rewatching trail clips!
I plan on coming to Whistler this summer! From watching your videos, I can't wait!
You're gonna love it dude! Place rocks!
4:36 - LOL tractor beam... I was riding DRC in the wet last summer and aired onto the rock roll leading up to that tree, bad idea, super greasy... ended up sliding out of control and was lucky that my front tire hit that tree square and stopped me from going over the edge!
Love this trail, one of the best tech trails in the park IMO.
+hobmarg tractor beam. everytime! Couldn't agree more on DRC. it's one of the best.
These closer looks are the best. Just cant see whats going on or what to do on most trail ride videos. I've been looking for another way down when I get to the end of afternoon delight, as sometimes I'm just not feeling the gnar of LW downhill, and from this it looks like I should be able to manage that last rock on Rock City. Thanks for making these !
Wouiw my friend! incredible way of explaining these trails....
super well done ! thank you
Patrick from Squamish.
very helpfull
appreciate the feedback! More coming soon.
Wow! That looked amazing. Great video!
+Mary Crowe thanks aunt Mary! Good to see you back on CZcams!
Really good job on the pop up instructions! This is like a trail map, but a video. Great job!
The man Gonzo! Thanks for watching!
thanks for another great vid. I haven't hit all the trails there. We tend to go back to the big ones we like. Your new vid format "a closer look" points out things to watch for on the trails. I can use as sneak peak for this summers trip.
+Jim Butterfield glad to help. Its exactly what i am going for. Before i went to Whistler for the first time i would have been all over videos like these to prepare (at least have some idea of whats in store). The GoPro just doesnt do the features justice, but its better than nothing.
On one hand I like that vids do not give justice for what is really there on the trails... I will just go for it. However when showing others my trail vids they say, "oh that's nice"....
+Jim Butterfield i heard that! Keep ripping!
You're doing me wonders making these videos man thank you so much! Keep up the good work!!!
Glad you're liking them! I've been learning a lot making them. Its been a great experience for me too. Thank you for the support.
Whitesnake2 haha that's awesome! I've been lucky enough to go to Whistler 4 times now (I'm from Calgary) and out of all those trips I haven't hit too many double blacks as I didn't know what to expect but now I have a much better idea thanks to you!
my pleasure! Hopefully these videos help give you the confidence to get in there and have a look in real life. Bottom line is that most of the gnar features have some sort of ride around generally speaking. That said the ride around may not be the easiest out there on the double blacks. Worst case you can always just hike a bit in the woods to get around things if they prove to daunting. I know I certainly have done that before and certainly will again!
You look really familiar, I think the guys you were talking to when you were looking at it, might have been me haha! Hope to see ya on the trails this year!
See you there tomorrow!
Loving this series man. Keep it up!😀
Cheers man - planning the next video as we speak!
Nice!!
cheers man!
great video , very good job
I second your that. Your videos are fun to watch. Like your almost there in person. Just subscribed to your channel.
Top quality video Jamie!
You nailed it!
Yewwww
+Aido what a summer bro! Couldnt have done it without you and your skills! You nail it in this one again!
Whitesnake2 you did it all bro! All I was doing was riding my bike down a mountain and you happened to be filming it 🤘
+Aido nah dude! I definitely fed off your 'send it' approach to the mountain and everything on it!
Whitesnake2 i don't remember saying "send it"......hahahha (;
Just point your bike and hit things!
+Aido it's a pretty sick creedo! Still wish I'd been there for the backflip off the tombstone. That would have been sick to have in an edit!
Love it dude! Keep up the Great Work :D
Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Very innovative style! All these features look a bit intimidating so nice to see you guys figure them out. Some of those fonts are just a wee bit too small.
+wpf312 thanks for the feedback! The features are intimidating for sure, but hopefully these tips will help a bit. Thanks for the support!
\m/ epic content \m/
I did this after only seeing GoPro. And ya. Way steeper than it looked on GoPro.
hey man, I got a quick question if you can answer it and that would be wonderful! Alright so im planning a whistler trip this summer and trying to figure out the dates. but racing this summer for me this summer is very very busy and it is making things very hard to get thing scheduled up. i was just wondering if at whistler does is get super busy during Canada day in the park? knowing it should fall on the Sunday but with weird laws or something it is being forced to fall on a Monday. trying to get their on a Saturday and leave the next Saturday the next week. the goal of this is to ride the park Monday-Friday without the crazy amount of people in the lift lines.... learned that from last year :).
Thanks,
+MrMreasygoing Canada day is a holiday up here so id suspect the number of visitors would be quite high, but i wouldnt not come because of that. Can ride in Creekside - Ive never waited in a line over there.
Whitesnake2 yeah, I’m gonna actually stay in Creekside cause they don’t have lift lines but once you get down to the main village then lines can get long. Thanks for the reply!
+MrMreasygoing cheers man! See you on the trails.
WOW! Fantastic concept, well executed. Exactly what you need to differentiate yourself from the myriad of other CZcams Go-Pro bullshit riders out there. Good stuff, this concept would work great on any trail. Nice work!
Seriously appreciate the positive feedback! I've got plenty more footage to edit. Just need the time to do the work.
Yep, this type of video is certainly far more labor intensive. I have actually had the same idea to do this with some of the technical trails here in Phoenix. Show case the multiple lines, entry points and tech data that you wouldn't really pickup on unless you a) know the trail VERY well or b) ride with an experienced local. Keep it up man!
Definitely more labour intensive. Since I didn't plan to make these videos in this form til after the footage was taken I had to go back through everything to find the right bits for each feature etc. Takes a long time to say the least.
Which song do you always use.. In the intro and in the ending?
I'd have to look... one sec...
its a tune called 'Flickering Bulbs'. It works well as an intro/outro tune I reckon.
and i love the "A Closer Look "Series
Thank you, but where can i find it?
Hi , you have done the ladder drop or the chute roll in or not ?
I don't have any footage of it unfortunately. I think I only rode that section 1x this year. I definitely prefer the 'Alternate Entrance' to the goods for the more flowy flavour it offers.
What a bummer , maybe next time , but it look really fucking tricky deep , current i think i cant both descent .
+mc73 big time bummer. I didnt think of making these sort of videos til after the summer so I'm limited only to the footage I have from the summer. In 2018 I'm hoping to take a new approach taking up the video and by getting more shots! Live and learn I guess. thabks for your support!
