  • In this Video we go over a Mitsubishi SUZ/SVZ Combination installation. WIth efficiency ratings and a pricepoint that is hard to beat, this product is a fantastic middle ground between a single stage system and a fully variable speed system.

    Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) czcams.com/users/postUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

    I am also having increased electric bill with these units.. This is my 2nd year now.
    1- PUZA36NHA7 Hyper Heat Outdoor Condenser
    1- PVAA36AA7 Multi Position Heat Pump Air Handler (1st Floor)
    1- PUZA30NHA7 Hyper Heat Outdoor Condenser
    1- PVAA30AA7 Multi Position Heat Pump Air Handler (2nd Floor)
    Last year my electric bill went up to $1,160 in the winter and in the summer my bill is low as $176. I had the HVAC servicing team come many times to trouble shoot this unit.
    We set our temp at 70-71 degrees in the winter. We notice the unit is constantly running to maintain the temp. the outside temp is 32-36degrees today and I feel like the machine was running most of the day. (70%) The service tech is saying to get heating strips and this way machine wont work as hard. But that is another thing going on the grid which will increase my electric usage. Any thoughts or suggestion?
    Troubleshoot:
    Did a blower door test to detect any leaks, and I passed.
    Check refrigerant levels to ensure no leaks- passed
    change air filters-
    ask them to do another heat loss calculation. I was told the im oversized for the house by 7
    Please help!

    • @timrob0420
      @timrob0420 Před rokem +1

      These are precision charged machines. If the charge is overcharged or undercharged they will use more energy. Possibly the system is not sized correctly for your home. $1100 is VERY excessive as these systems are extremely inefficient. I’d call a different service company with more experience/knowledge to troubleshoot. They can actually measure the kW useage in real time. Also, the other question is how is your window quality? What about insulation? Is your home losing more heat than the system can transfer?? These are all questions as your whole home is a system, not just the machine

    I just installed a mitsubishi 4 ton hyper heat unit with 2 air handlers. We're still under construction but my 1st electric bill came in at $285. I pooped my shorts when I saw that. Compared to the $103 gas bill at the house we are currently in. I'm hoping I didn't make the wrong decision in the long run by going all electric on this build.

    • @krisspringer1568
      @krisspringer1568 Před 3 lety +2

      John, I am just wondering if that was above what your normal electric bill is at your current place. My house is all electric-a mobile home-at 1865 sq ft, with no heat pump systems. That $285 is my electric bill in January and February, using a propane stove to supplement on colder days (at about $28 a week). Hopefully, your bills go down significantly after your construction is complete.

      @marrsheatingandairconditio5891  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi John, lots of factors go into heat pump system design. If you are on natural gas and depending on the size of your home, it is possible that it may be cheaper to Heat with gas by a small margin. Every home is unique In the amount of heating or cooling it requires and factors like climate, utility company rates and indoor temp setting play large roles in the effectiveness and payoff of these systems. Hope this helps!

    • @matsudakodo
      @matsudakodo Před 2 lety

      From everything I've seen, natural gas is probably cheaper than heat pumps whenever the COP drops below about 1.50 on the heat pump. That varies but could be 10-20F or so. Disable the hyper heat or backup heat though unless you really really need it.

    what is the model and size of this heat pump / air handler combo and what home size it is heating / cooling in which climate zone ? Will it be possible to share some data on its electricity consumption ( KwH ) while heating ? Is the efficiency close to COP of 3 with ambient at 35-40 F as claimed my Mitsubishi for their ducted system ?
    I have a 3400 sq ft home - two level - with good insulation in Bay Area, CA. I am looking to install two 30K BTU ducted Mitsubishi heat pump. But I am super scared of running high electricity bill as it is very expensive here and hence, my request for sharing your observation of KwH uses and COP of these systems. Thanks.

    • @marrsheatingandairconditio5891
      @marrsheatingandairconditio5891  Před 2 lety +1

      No good way to fix. In heat mode, refrigerant will be sent to both zones. In cooling, it will only send refrigerant to the zone that is calling for cooling. All brands do the same thing unfortunately!

      We certainly try to do that to treat the coil. We really added this last minute and due to the unit width we didn’t have room to install in the blower compartment. We also didn’t want to install before the filter. The good news, our climate is very dry, so hardly any latent load type issues, such as coil growth. But yes I agree, coil should get treated!
