while it wasnt in the anime, got a small details cut from the novel which is Elinalise lied to Rudeus that Roxy is pregnant when they were on the way home...thus solidifies Rudy's resolved to take Roxy as his wife and confronts Sylphie about it (as it reminds him of Lilia's pregnant situation if Lilia walk out the house while pregnant)

No matter what camp you fall into concerning how you feel about this episode the great thing about the story is that there are just as many camps with the characters in the story when they find out about it.
Rudeus is so lucky in his second life. I hope I'm that lucky in my next life. Ever since I was a kid, I never got along with other people so I stayed to myself. I even kept distance from my own parents, to be fair they fought and I was constantly either being sent to foster homes or other family members. After my dad died 2 yrs ago, I realized he tried to make up for me having a bad childhood by showing me love, but I never showed him love. I've been a shut in since he died.

One thing I'm looking forward to next season, that I haven't seen talked about anywhere, is "My Wife Has No Emotion", a romcom in which a lonely salaryman gets drunk one night and asks his cooking robot to be his wife. From what I recall of the manga, despite the claim of emotionlessness, the wife in question is one of the _smuggest_ characters I've ever seen, and I really can't wait to see how they attempt to convey this in animation.
New here, and enjoying your takes. I've read the LN a little past this arc, but I enjoyed how they did in in the anime, Roxy took the initiative, rather than being convinced to do it in the LN.
Elinalise Prepped Roxy - She says the only way to fix him is to get laid but they are months from home and he won't make it like this. Roxy suggests Einalise but she wont because Cliff. Lilia can't. Noone will. Roxy takes it into her own hands after she asks everyone. Elinalise didn't think she would actually do it, and was just kind of down in the dumps about how they were going to get him home to Sylphie.
Afterwards - In that campfire chat Elinalise told Rudy that Roxy was *late* and was probably pregnant. In addition to all the other stuff she said. The late part is a lie that he doesn't learn is a lie until AFTER confronting Sylphie.

I think I was the person who dealt the worst with it from my family. I and my two younger brothers never lost a close person before. But they got over it very quickly. They didn't really realize the severity.
My youngest borther was only 4, so of course he couldn't understand it. And my other brother was 9, and also was pretty stupid. He first thought, my mom was joking, when she told us.
I was only lying around in bed for almost a whole week. And the week before wasn't much better. We visited the hospital everyday, but we weren't allowed to visit him in person. So I ate some ice and waited for my mom to come back.
Since then I almost never felt sadness again. And I never cried again.
At the funeral of my grand aunt, who visited us at every birthday, maybe 5 years later, I felt nothing. Everybody was crying, but I just couldn't understand them. They felt kind of stupid to me.
That's how I realized that I probably lost my ability to feel sadness.
Some years later after I finished school, I got depressed and sometimes cried without a reason, it helped me relax and then I felt better.
But that didn't happen a lot.
Only a few years ago I started crying again, but only when watching movies/anime.

About this ep: I thought the ep was very good, they screwed up, both Roxy and Rudy, they know that, but it's also a fact they love each other, they know they made a mistake of doing it before Sylphy knew and they will wait to see if she approves before becoming a couple, and that was it, right?
I felt bad seeing Roxy in that state, knowing she messed up and having the person she fell in love be an "Impossible love" for her, fortunatelly the GOAT Elinalise helped, for real, i really grew to love Elinalise as a character, i love her true friendship with Rudy

one counter argument to "if your putting it in there" is to keep it simple stupid method of telling things.

I'm hoping that story about the man from another world will be moved to the next episode, and he'll be telling it to both Sylphie and Roxy. As for what Lise tells Rudy, I'm kind of glad they changed that as it would take away a bit on why Rudy is asking her to marry him. The rest of the changes I don't really mind, would have been nice to see the bar scene, but it would have likely been 4 minutes or more, and I'm not sure what they could have cut to make room for it.

Sadly the author confessed than he was forced to make changes to make more "acceptable".
They cut the part when Geese and Elinalise talk in a bar about make feel better to Rudeus, Roxy even don't understand at first. So the idea to Roxy pushing Rudeus doesn't make sense at all, it's something than Roxy will have never do, and it goes agains the character.
In the novel after Roxy hugged Rudeus, she tries to take distance but Rudeus stops her. He felt calm when he heard the Roxy's hearts beats and her smell, then he pull to her.
Then Roxy make the proposal to do it, obviously Rudeus is stupid so he doesn't understand at first. Roxy says that she heard from Elinalise about that, she was babbling nonsense after that.
Roxy even tries to leave the room but Rudeus take her word and push her. All was more about emotions in that moment, all Rudeus' frustration. He let it out in poor Roxy, he was too rought, probably she probably had bruises.
Obviously I didn't expect they animated Rudeus technically r@p¡ng Roxy to feel better but they changed Roxy's actions to something than she wouldn't do, worst episode adapted so far. They tried to blame Roxy for all to protect Rudeus of more controversy, that was cheap, Roxy even didn't get a good time, it really must have been sucks for her, it was her first time but she endured the pain, and she knew than probably she would be hated. She deserved better.
@@hmmm..668 The problem is Roxy's actions in anime, she wouldn't do such thing to go straight to fuck Rudeus knowing that he is married. In novel she only gets the idea when Rudeus puts her in him lap, in the moment, and even she wasn't sure about it.

I learned about this anime is everything that is said has a hidden context behind it, and every scene has a purpose to be there, either to build the world, character and the plot. It's as easy as that

This episode should have been at least 1.5 but for a good job they should have been 2
I think they did well. I like the changes. Honestly, the only issue was that they didn't make it clear enough how desperate Roxy felt at that moment. They didn't show us enough how much time had passed. But apart from that, considering that they only had 2 episodes to finish the season, I think they did a good job.
@@anotherchannel133 Well the fact that Rudeus has become that gaunt in between last episode and this episode should make it pretty obvious that days if not weeks have gone by without Rudeus not eating properly, it isn't told to the viewer, it's simply visual story telling, telling us the information that days of him not taking care of himself have gone by in a single image.
In the novel it's been about a week since they got back when they have the discussion in the Bar were Geese brings up sex, Rudeus himself doesn't know how long it's been when Roxy comes to his room but he questions how many days it has been not how many weeks.
@@D1i1s1 To be very nitpicky/pedantic... "weeks" aren't a concept in the world of Mushoku Tensei. Iirc the second LN volume tells us that Rudy made up the concept of a "weekend" by having Eris get free time every 7 days or something like that. Since Rudy has already been in this world for 16+ years it's very possible that he doesn't think in "weeks" anymore. I forgot if they have months though and if they have the same amount of months/days as we have in a year - I don't know from memory atm.
Long story short: Just because Rudy questions how many days it's been doesn't mean that he couldn't have rotted away in his room for 2 weeks+.
@@Jakokokoroko In other words Rudeus knows the concept of weeks and it's a matter of fact that weeks are frequently used as a measurement of time in MT (even in this very situation), even if the people in the world don't have that concept.
Even if making the consession that Rudeus wouldn't think about weeks, it changes nothing about there being no indication anywhere in the novel of even more than one week, much less multiple weeks or a month having passed since they got back.
The only indication for how much time has passed is the group meeting when Rudeus has been in his room for nearly a week and Rudeus wondering how many days it's been.
@@D1i1s1 True, but I think easily another week could have passed before Roxy finally made up her mind to go in there and console Rudeus after she saw that he just can't pull himself up alone after all. It's left vague on purpose imo but assuming he at least drinks water to stay alive I feel like he looks way too malnourished for rotting away for "just" a week without or with barely any food.
A quick google search also tells me that symptoms like moderate to severe cheek sinking occur over the course of several weeks of severe caloric deficit with a range of 2-3 weeks. 1 week just seems like way too little for how bad he was doing physically. Some sources even say it takes some people months of severe caloric deficit for their cheeks to sink in since the body initially uses glycogen stores, then breaks down fat and muscles and only after that, in the later stages, starts to visibly take from facial features etc. Of course, every person's body composition is unique though.
But is it not true that nonverbal cues are easily misidentified...?
Because in my case I do not get it. I get verbal cues better and yet your trying to use your interpretation as everyone's right... doesn't that ignore people normal does not apply to but have equally valid rights?
It just does not sit well that someone could be misunderstood but live with a family on the way despite having never actually wanting it.
Holding hands should not be a lead toward sex... something with irreversible consequences like sex is.

I'll be shocked if she refuses his relationship with Roxy.

My biggest let down in this episode is Rudy's inner thoughts about how he wasn't Paul's son but Paul was his father he went so deep into that that it broke me when I read that and Rudy getting gas lit into thinking Roxy is pregnant just to push him to ask Roxy to marriage there was so much small almost insignificant things in the moment but are so big to understanding how much Rudy has grown and changed also it would be devious to end this season with the rat or with a tease of eris doing her thing

This whole segment had so much skipped content that you should really read the chapter to see all of the removed stuff cause the novel version is way better
