Really think back to the first time we met Paul. Now imagine if in that moment someone told you that you will love him and cry over him eventually. I know I wouldnt have believed it, but the events of this episode are some of the most emotional I've ever felt from reading a work of fiction. Happy fathers day indeed.

Rudeus only acepted this quest because Norm wanted her mom back. Now he has to tell the bad news to his sisters. He has to take care of both of them, his mom, Silphy and his new son. Not like he's got time to grief. Only good thing for him is he got Roxy back.
Now he gets to deal with that can of worms (Roxy) LOL

Paul being angry at rudy is also because of his own past.
In his mind the mother is the most important to the son since he had a bad relationship with his father an hid mother is a large part of his backstory

I like how each pan to angry/brooding Paul his face changes, but not in a 'someone else's style' type of way like in most Anime.
loses focus for 1 second. Looses his arm and his dad. If anything its a verry serious lesson learned to keep your head in the game if you dont want to lose it.
Roxy.. because I relate to her on so many levels.. her being an outsider to her own tribe, feeling like something was wrong with her all her life.. that all she did was cause her loved ones pain. Then when she ventures outside, she's always seen as a child, not the adult women she is.. she feels hopeless of finding love because of her body, feels like she can't fit in, because of her heritage.. it's just a lonely experience. Especially the not feeling desirable, not feeling like you belong anywhere with anyone.. but she's still an amazing mage, who has a dream she's chasing, giving it her best. But she's also willing to help and risk her life for other's.. maybe some people pleasing tendencies you could say..
Anyways.. Roxy resonates with me on so many levels.. so she's my fav and she deserves to be happy.
That's why I'm glad Rudy went.. even if he couldn't save Paul (and in a sense Zenith)..
One might argue the whole party would have died without him too..
Paul was an amazing character.. he did horrible things in his life, but he also saved many.. just showing how humans aren't black and white and condemning someone, because of past mistakes doesn't do them justice..

The best reaction channel especially for mushoku tensei is autosave they do a really good job with taking notes and keeping ideas about what's really going on in the world. They have detailed discussions after their reactions to the episode that is really enjoyable to watch

1:36:45 I couldn't make it to the stream (visiting my mom in the hospital/rehab center), but this line has become really important to me after my mom got a blood clot between her lungs and her heart, before suffering from a stroke from the blood de-clotter. When my dad got my mom to the hospital, they told him that if he was just a few minutes later, she would have died. I was two days away from my first midterm in my first year of university when it happened. I can't stress this point enough: CHERRISH YOUR TIME THAT YOU HAVE WITH YOUR PARENTS! Becuase in an instant they can be taken away.
Given that there was a highly conspicuous appearance of a certain character this season, who appeared for seemingly no reason for all of 5 seconds and vanished just as quickly, I would put money on an Eris OVA dropping. If the next episode ends the season, which it looks like it will, that pretty much seals the deal.

This episode was heavy, i knew what was going to happen but it was still heavy, at least Paul died knowing his son was safe.
Also, ED said Roxy should be separated from Rudy, but wouldn't she be able to help him with his grief tho? she is the closest person to him there, the one he cares the most.
This is the culmination of the decision he made in Turning Point 3. Now just wait until the next one.😁

I feel bad for Lilia in this episode. Rudy hurts later because he thinks he made the wrong call but Lilia didn't even get the chance to do anything about what happened.
At least she's also handling it and stepping up to the plate, being emotionally supportive of her step-son and looking after the woman who is her master's and husband's first wife and her friend.
She is bringing all her strength to bear not to fold under all that weight.

Ruijerd is my favorite character besides Rudy. His tragic backstory and life spent working for redemption got me.
they should have adressed that since season 1... but Paul is using Battle aura (the reason he could cut a boulder with a wooden sword)
Battle aura is mana manipulation basically... warriors are using it to enhance their speed, strength and defense.
Rudeus demon eye indeed couldnt keep up with Pauls speed.
While the effects of Battle Aura have been in the show from the start, to have exposition about it and its mechanics hasn't been necessary so far.
Maybe at certain points in season 3 cour 1 or even in the next few episodes they'll go over it.

Actually, thinking about it, Rudy getting with Roxy is the checkmate against MT haters that always use the "pdf file" argument.
There's two parts to the argument:
1. "Oh, Rudy is a pdf file because he's mentally an old dude and he got it on with Sylphy!"
2. "Oh, Rudy is a pdf file because he's getting it on with Roxy looks like a teenager" but she's actually about 40+ years old, making her the same mental age as Rudy.
So what ACTUALLY matters to the haters? Mental age, or physical appearance?
The answer? Physical appearance, but not Sylphy's and not Roxy's. They talk so much shit against Rudy for the exact reason you've been bringing up in your videos, which is because his original self is considered as "ugly and fat".

He cares deeply but pushes ever onward regardless of the here and now being only lonlyness and pain.

But each time I reach a town I touch up on all items and such.
So, first time I faced the disc 2 final boss of "Legend of Dragoon" I learned a lesson that has stuck since then and will always be there.
I beat that boss because I had more revival items then common sense and only 1 of 3 were attacking the other 2 item bombing the situation what ever it was turn after turn and I won the fight of Attrition that did not need to be. I later realized I was about 3 levels under what I needed to be since I ran to much from minions.
Now in every game I set level goals until the game feels chill and I overstock on recovery and revival items at all times often meaning I lack funds for gear.
Some Boss fights are plain shit storms you just have to wade into and learn the experience of a loss from 1 or more times; others insult you with how easy they are. But I love all boss fights.
Boss fights in games for me it really depends on the game and how well I've been doing? And what the consequences are for losing. Overall I like to be well prepared but sometimes I can rush in and win anyways if it's a game I'm good at or it's too easy or I'm overly prepared just by circumstance. But in general I am a near 100% completion in most games. Meaning typically I will be as prepared as possible. But that does not mean it's always easy. I like to sometimes choose hard modes or settings etc.

There is a lot of dialogue in Slime, but it is a good anime. The world building is great, and so are the characters. If you enjoy the topics of the dialogue, some of those meeting scenes are more tolerable - but I can understand why people would find it boring

About the mentor question: Is it who would I want to mentor me at this particular point in the story? Or is it who would I want to mentor me at _any_ point in the story? And on that note, are they mentoring me about _anything,_ or is it something specific? For example, if I was torn choosing between Lilia, Aisha, and Badigadi, my decision would vary quite a bit depending on whether I'm meant to be learning combat ability, housekeeping ability, networking ability, general economic theory, noble manners, Demon God Tongue, or something else entirely.

I always enjoy trying to push joke classes into peak conditions for the challenge of minnion fights.
But when trying to be more serious then magical DPS all the way baby. point click kill.
Second to that are the stealth characters so I can explore and not get ambushed by foes.
I feel like the allocated this whole seasons budget to this episode
1:12:13 uni arc is exposition done right, unlike my second fav wn adaptation moonlit fan
There was so many ways to approach this fight though, I'm surprised they didn't try more. Like light up the room and burn away oxygen since Zenith is trapped in a crystal anyway. Or if repeated mini explosions could wear it down even with it's anti-magic field.
Rudy and Roxy don't have an infinite mana pool. Rudy has a ton of mana, but not an infinite one. If they keep making small explosions, and Roxy or Rudy runs out of mana, they'd have to proceed with one less mage as Paul was going to refuse any more retreats to the inn as well.
If you fill the room with Carbon Monoxide, how sure are they that the room would clear of that "Poison?" What if the Hydra doesn't even need to breathe? Those tactics you mentioned have way more repercussions than you present.
@@thespianmask8451 Why not just go back into the portal. Recover. And try again? At least attempt those options.
If they're unclear of whether or not the 'poison' will be cleared. Just pump the room with water again and change it back into oxygen overtime.
The only irreversible tactic I see here would be nuking the place and collapsing the dungeon and most likely killing Zenith with it.
@@thespianmask8451 Let's say they don't use up all their mana making small explosions. They could at least try to use it to know if it can stagger the hydra. Again, why assume extremities?
These are also just some options off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more ways to go about this if you have enough creativity.
@@Mythriaz that's a difficult demand if you can't even suggest ideas that others can't shoot down. You could try to collapse the roof to crush it with large rocks, but you risk a cave in.
Perhaps there's some magic that can be used to lob fallen rocks, or perhaps wind magic to lob Geese's bombs from long range, but we've established the Hydra has a breath attack that needed Rudy to be in close range so the rest of the team could be behind his water shield.
I think the fight was done as well as it could have given the moment. In fact, it was quite a bit more tactical in the LN. The Hydra was able to regenerate a few heads via ripping off the cauterized necks which caused the team to get worn out a little more. The change in attack patterns also wasn't really quite shown in the anime as well.
It's always easy to say "they could have done it better" as a coping mechanism when something we didn't want to happen happens in fiction. That's just the way things are.

You have all the luxury in the world to think with the coolest head imaginable in this scenario because it's not your wife, mother, or friend that's been lost for years that's at stake.
"Oh they could have just-" is the words of bystander, or an audience member. It's the words of those who have no stakes. That's what the scene when they retreated was for. It was to showcase that Paul was resolved to get his wife back then and there, and to show that his team was willing to go through the grinder for him.
If you can't accept that, that's cool too, but you're media consumption moving forward in any piece of media is going to suck if you can't suspend your disbelief to get lost in the moment.

To be fair; I actually question Rudy being suddenly in trouble and freezing in the first place.
Maybe I blink and miss it but I saw no reason for either case of him freezing up at the end.
the anime didnt do it fairly. Rudy simply got overwhelmed cuz he tunnel visioned on his foresight (demon eye) and it got the better of him.
I didn't like The change in The anime makes Rudeus Look so much worse
In the LN The Hydra swings all its necks and then its massive body fills his whole demon eye vision he is confused on what he sees and bam rather than a premature celebration and freezing

I felt the anime handled the pacing of the university arc poorly 1:13:46 compared to the source material
The fact that Paul had to push Rudy aside twice is bs. Rudy has that sharingan thing so him being unattentive twice seems a stretch.
Rudy was too close to use the demon eye effectively. The first time Paul pushed him out of the way was Rudy's fault. He was getting too comfortable. The second time he got distracted was because he saw Roxy almost die to a Hydra neck attack if it weren't for Talhand's clutch defense.
there is 2 things to consider, first, rudy is physically normal, as a mage, he shouldnt but was forced to go to the front to counter the hydra, the second is, he had set his eye to 2-3 seconds ahead, the hydra with the last head started flailing its stumps around, Rudy trying to see whatt it was up to got caught in the hydra trap, remember when he got stunned when looking at orsted in TP2? if he sees too many futures, his mind cant process it and he gets locked into place, it showed the thing rudy lacks, experience, specially on dungeon diving
@@HaxeRain yeah this dude has no experience at all with fighting huge OP shit, now he does though so at least now you could say he will become strong as hell compared to if he just stayed by Sylphie's side which means more story.
Ok so there are a few points about this that's explained better in the novel. Rudy is slow. The only time he can move fast is when he uses wind magic to push himself, which requires additional time to cast as compared to just moving out of the way when you're as fast as Paul or Elinalise. Not as much extra time for Rudy in particular because of his chantless casting, but still more time. Additionally, the Hydra began to act erratically, attacking with it's stumps which it hadn't done before that, and it also started to target Rudy and Roxy in particular. Rudy did see something coming, but couldn't understand what it was or what he should do. After the first time he gets pushed away, he barely gets time to recover before he sees Roxy die with his eye of foresight, so he starts to panic until Talhand manages to save her just barely. So in the split second right after he got back on his feet after the first push he gets distracted for a mere moment by Roxy being put in danger, while still trying to understand what the hell the Hydra is even doing, he immediately gets attacked again. If I remember correctly I don't think Rudy even fully realized what the Hydra was doing until after it was dead.
