Place something under the end of the rails, (the end where the squat stand is inserted). Make sure whatever you place under there is strong enough the hold the weight of you on the gym. It should also be thick enough so this levels the end of the rails with the other end where the rails are as low as they can go on the stand.
Black knob. Didn't pull out and yellow knob wouldn't pull out. I'm really hurt because I wish I still had my Jillian Michaels copy of total gym. It was so easy. The unit TG sent is defective I have to return. 😞

On mine you have to hold the black release pin out and while you are walking the tower back.
