    This is a Total Gym GTS. Price is somewhere around $4000 after taxes and shipping. I'm not going back to the gym now so I was kind of trying to rationalize getting this machine, but with all the uncertainty going on, I'm really hesitant to pay that much for something that is really good, but I feel like I need to save my money just in case.

      I wouldn't go to true muscle failure for the accumulative fatigue. When you do sets and reps you can leave a couple reps in reserve so you don't tax yourself out and after a short rest go back and do another set. Again just before muscle failure. Doing this 3-4 times will result in more overall training volume. It's effective to go to failure maybe on your last set. But you're missing out on a lot of volume and probably take a while to recover.

    well this makes sense u can raise the bench but all their other gyms sets all make u lay down even if u sit up it's uncomfortable. they should all allow u to raise the bench in a seated position. just another low ball scam to get u to buy the more expensive total gym product

      This GTS model is a commercial one, commonly found in physical therapy and rehab departments. It's not exactly intended for home use. It takes up a lot of space and weighs a ton.

      It's commercial grade designed by Total Gym. The GTS is targeted for home users and the Encompass for commercial, however with exception to color they're the same machine. I have the Encompass RS which adds a few extra bells/whistles such as a larger squat platform.

    The inverted shoulder press which you have to do on this 4000 dollar unit with your head down is a terrible bad exercise. Just forget doing that on this machine.

    • @nycesl
      @nycesl Před 5 lety +3

      allis one; why do you think it is bad? I have a total gym fit and do the same thing on that cheaper model. You avoid compressing your spine this way but can work your shoulders.

      @nycesl Před 5 lety

      Miguel Robb I’m happy with my total gym and right now QVC had it on sale today for half what I paid for it. But all total gym so basically really similar. I think you can accomplish a lot with even the cheaper models.

      Andrew Bell that settles it then. I have been dead set . more. I'm not knocking a gym but i would rather work out at my own pace without having guys standing behind me to use the machines. Anyways what model do you reccomend me getting? I'm not looking to save a few bucks, and I don't mind getting something new. I want the best machine they have

    • @mehardin
      @mehardin Před 5 lety +1

      @@miguelrobb5719 The "best machine they have" is going to be a commercial model like the one in this video and cost several thousand dollars. The best home machine they have right now is the FIT, and was on sale this weekend for a little over $700. Don't pay much more than that for it. totagymdirect.com lists it on their website for about $1500 retail, but you can find it new for $700-$800 and used for less than that.I have the XLS, which was the predecessor to the FIT and I'm very happy with it. I got it on Amazon new several years ago for just over $700. You can find it on craigslist now for $200 or less.

    Consider redoing the audio without that mix of marbles and oatmeal in your mouth. Pretty poor presentation for something that costs more than it's worth.
