    After a few months of debate, I ended up purchasing a Total Gym. In this video I review the Total Gym Fit model that I decided on. I will show the unboxing, go over why purchased a Total Gym, showcase the accessories, demo some exercises, and get into if it's worth the cost. I tried to be as honest as possible for anyone considering picking up this machine or other higher end sliding bench. Please let me know if you have any questions about the product. Thank you for watching.

    I just bought the Total Gym Fit Max; got it on QVC for $699. I was hesitant but I’m glad I got it-14 levels of resistance, and it came with so many attachments. As you mentioned, very smooth. I’m glad I purchased it. I also have a Concept2 Model D rowerg, which I love using, a pair of Bowflex adjustable kettlebells, some resistance bands and a Lifeline Jungle Gym XT. Hoping to lose the Covid weight and get back in better shape.

      You got a great deal. but even at the full price it is worth it. In evaluating a product, you should look at the value you receive, not only in the mechanical aspects (which one could argue in a price plus approach could cost less) but in the benefit received. I used mine as a clothes rack for some time, until I woke up one day and decided to get serious. All kinds of numbers improved - strength, cardio, weight, etc. The way you can set this up allows you to get at it at all times when you feel like working out. On this particular version - the FIT - the size of the board, the attachments are just about all you need. So ues, well worth it.

    It may look intimidating to people out of shape, but with its 14 different levels of inclination (most others only have 5) you truly get a chance to start from the easiest and very gradually increase the resistance based on your body improving on its capacity. Wonderful machine. Would buy it again without a doubt. Good quality and if you buy it during the sales, an unbelievable buy.

    Definitely use the weight bar. Adding some extra poundage doesn't mean that you have to go heavy. In fact you can put say 65 lbs on the sled, step off to the side of your total gym. Then do all sorts of exercises. You can put the level on a lower setting and work your way into your heavier sets as well.
    It pretty much makes the total gym a body builder's dream. I have no idea why an ifbb guy hasn't endorsed total gym because if you can top a total gym out weight wise and do decline presses or back workouts or really move that kinda weight with your upper body at all. You probably look like the hulk.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  Před 3 lety +1

      I'll look into that. I like not having to deal with the weight plates, but I can see where they'd add more options with the machine.

    • @chaddickens4335
      @chaddickens4335 Před 3 lety +1

      When I first got into this I was under the impression that heavy weight was the only way to build muscle. So I would use the weight bar consistently trying to keep my rep ranges lower, somewhere around 10-12. But then I found out that high rep sets have equal and potentially greater muscle hypertrophy than heavier sets. So I came full circle but throw on weight every now and then to spice things up a bit lol

    • @chaddickens4335

      @@Primetime_dads standard weights your total gym should come with a hole for a 1 inch thick bar. I'll use anything that fits the dimensions. And if you're using sled that only has the lower bar. Using a longer bar helps because larger plates will scrape the ground and cause you to bottom out.

    Perhaps you have run across this on your FIT? The bottom of the board shifts to the left/right on the rails on some exercises. This causes the inner portion of the bottom right fender to hit the 'stop' on the way down AND back up (annoying!). The RH corner fender has already broken away from the cross piece. I think you mentioned in one of your posts that you removed the fenders? Perhaps replacing the factory wheels with Huck's would help keep the board centered? Any advice is appreciated. Thx

    Beneficial to watch your video......thanks for sharing....concerns would like bias comparison between anniversary model and signature model...pros and cons as well...if available...if not where online convoluted...even up to the colors...yes black and yellow you demonstrated is fine. Appreciate your take on the detachable clips....you mention a link for easier ones....for quick release regarding changing equipment. Online states anniversary model squat board bigger what would be the benefit. Obviously a purchase is required to add external equipment for adding weights...
    Mentioned something about cables noise being a con..as well as height of tower...how does it restrict exercising as in hindering.
    Any assistance with these concerns would be greatly appreciated. Cost between the two models as listed online not that much both listed $1449..and change

    I am trying to decide which one to get since I have a fused neck and lower spine (could kick my own behind for getting rid of a nice new one given to me a few years ago). It's been a while since I've used one, It looks tough to set up/ handle/add attachments. Luckily my Husband can help with with initial set up. How tough is it to swap accessories on this model? I saw this particular model on Amazon and I saw two others (g5 & g7 I believe) trying to figure out the difference between the Fit model and G7 model. Thanks for this video; this seems to be an all around good machine. :)

    Just got the FIT as an upgrade from my very old 1100 series and the difference is amazing. QVC sale last week got the unit down to under $700 before tax. Got it set up last night and had a problem - two-piece wing attachment right-hand bar, when attaching to the lower part of the frame to do shoulder presses, the pin does not go all the way through the frame. The wing attachment works just fine at the top of the frame for pull ups, but I can't jockey the pin all the way through the frame only for the right hand attachment at the bottom of the frame. Has anyone else had this type of issue and, if so, how did you solve it? I did a web search and came up empty, and I haven't called customer service yet because I'm concerned they will tell me to ship it back and it was work to get it unpacked and I can't imagine packing it back up.

      I think you could put any sliding bench trainer outdoors, the important thing is to make sure you bring back inside (or garage), avoid the rain, and avoid dirt/debris getting on the rails as it can cause issues for wheels. I've made a few recent videos where I've worked out with them outside.

      Sams Club has a great model right now (XL7) and we just got the QVC Titanium for our boys. There are a lot of options, but if you want to add the weight bar, it has to be the FIT or XLS.

    I also had the xls and in my opinion the more adjustments in height the fit model has you really cannot tell the difference. If you want to buy new but don't have or want to spend for the fit model. The xls is just as good. There is virtually no difference.

    I think this system is good for muscle "toning" but don't count on gaining pounds worth of muscle. I think a con of this machine is that they've limited the device too much based on the tower height. I personally am too used to the max height level w/ my body weight and would like to double the height. Also, I find based on watching others (including yourself) is that proper form cannot be executed for many of the exercises. Too many odd angles of pulling, would be great if one could adjust the positioning of the tug cable to be at level with ones shoulders, elbow, not just hip height.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  Před rokem

      Just speaking from myself using this for now three years with very little weights, I can accomplish all the muscle building goals without going to the gym or weights. Just read your question. I had that same thought. I finally bought one off of Craigslist for 300. Mint. It's a bear to configure ( or at least it was for me ! ) , Weighs 68 lbs. I got a workout just moving it and setting it up. The Fit is listed at around 16 to 18 hundred. As to the question. It seems heavy duty. The rails, the hand pulls, the header bar are all welded and built to last. The booklet that comes with it doesn't cost much to produce but is very useful. Problem areas? it's color coded. For abdomen go to the maroon section.etc. So, keep your eyes on CL and find one within 200 miles of your home. People sell them because they do take up a lot of space. 8 feet long. Yes you can store it under the bed but moving it isn't easy. They really should have put recessed rubber wheels in the tubes that touch the floor just to move it. That and a better way to hang the center roller ( under the glide board ) would have been better. Those two items would make it more manageable.
