It's been reported that the included blurays are in fact region free. Have you tested those discs on a region A player?

Just put them in my US PS5, both of the Blu-ray discs work without issues

@@TwoTailedCaperer Forgive my ignorance, but does PlayStation have the same coding restrictions as a blu-ray player? I'm trying to make sure because I don't have a 4K player but it's my holy grail to own the original cut and I doubt Criterion is going to do a new edition before the decade is over!

@@donovanmayne-nicholls3631 yeah, the Playstation Blu-ray player is region locked just like a regular one. Region B and C discs don't work on it unless they're aren't locked properly like this set.
Just to be sure for you tho, I set my region free BD player to "Region A" and tested the disc and it still worked. 😁

@@TwoTailedCaperer Thanks for your reply. It's not that they're not properly locked, then. Simply that they've only written B locked on the specs for contractual reasons. I have several "region A" discs that are actually region free (20th CF used to do that all the time) but of course it doesn't matter if it's only A or ABC if your player is A, whereas the difference between B or ABC is being able to play the bloody disc or not! I wanted to make sure before I took the plunge. I'm old enough that I actually saw the original cut at the cinema and it's always bothered me that Weir chose to keep it out of circulation. Just don't ask me to confirm which colour timing is correct!

I watched the theatrical cut as well, it was a bit long but I enjoyed everything in it and how it added to the mystery. I can't speak to the original color timing either, but I watched a bit of the Criterion Blu-ray with the "old" color timing and I much prefer the new version. Plus with the image stabilization it makes for a much more enjoyable viewing experience IMO
