    Last time I visited here was 2003, it was really eerie, as we ascended, we noticed the birds had stopped singing and it was deadly quiet, it was the middle of the day, the whole time we were at the top it was eerily quiet. The whole place has an unusual energy about it.

      Definitely an eerie place with a sense of mystery. That’s what makes it so appealing 😊

      100% agree, I was just there last weekend ( November 2022) and it has a very strange energy about the place. The rock formations don't seem natural to me, feels kinda like a melted fortress of some kind. There must be caverns and tunnels beneath the surface, the ground feels hollow in certain places. Definitely worth a visit.

      @ivanhriljac2581 Před rokem +1

      It is quite high above the ground so you aren't going to have much noise.
      If the air was still, that would add to the quietness as well.
      I wonder if people had no idea of what supposedly happened on the rock, that the quietness would be perceived as serene as opposed to eerie?
      Also, if the birds had gone quiet from something eerie or some "energy", I think that they would fly away and never return.

      @@lakervoxx597 Mt. Macedon is an extinct volcano. Hanging Rock could have been pushed upwards due to the volcanic activity.
      As a result, much of the Western suburbs of Melbourne is part of a lava plain and the soil contains a lot of igneous rocks.
      Perhaps this may be of interest to you?
      Cheers!

    It has been continually suggested that a space time warp could impinge on the Bermuda Triangle.
    Could a space time warp impinge on Hanging Rock?
    Even Joan Lindsay stated that when she was 4 years old she experienced a " time glitch " when visiting hanging rock.
    Interesting.......

      I'm with you on that. It's such an intriguing story but unfortunately it's just a story.

    • @ivanhriljac2581
      @ivanhriljac2581 Před rokem +3

      I was under the impression all my life that it was true. Not the case.
      Reviews make out that something happened on 14/02/1900. Nothing did as there are no Police or newspaper reports supporting this.
      The story hangs loosely, perhaps, on the disappearances of two girls in the area in the 1890s. A lot of conjecture is thrown in to suggest that the author, the late Lady Joan Lindsay, had psychic abilities. She was compelled to write the story based upon some lucid dreams. Perhaps the cool crisp air of the Mornington Peninsula could have triggered the lucid dreams?
      Appleyard College apparently was based upon Clyde Girls' Grammar School (St. Kilda East) which the author had attended. The school was transferred to Woodend in 1919.
      Hanging Rock is quite often surrounded and capped by clouds due to its height above sea level. It may seem ominous as you drive past on the Calder Fwy. Potentially dangerous if you come off the beaten track on the rock. However one should not be worried about getting drawn into some hole that leads to another time dimension or universe!
      The plot is fictitious but could be good for entertainment, that's all.

      I think the writer based it on a few other strange disappearances in the area that occurred a while prior to the year in her story. Apparently she wrote the story after having strange dreams. Similar to some “Missing 411” cases

    I believe we would know a lot more about hanging rock if we had a Aboriginal population like in the other states .
    All the tribes in Victoria were chased away , probably killed so we'll probably never know more about hanging rock than what we already know
