    Just found your video and found it to be very informative and helpful. I’m new to the hobby and bought 2 of the Traxxas Slash 2WD’s for my wife and me. It’s a pure hobby that we both are addicted to. 1/42 scale aircraft and golf have taken a backseat to RC cars.
    Thank you for the great video! 👍

    Spec Slash is freakin awesome everything you said is good sound advice. I run mine with 32.5 front and 40 rear. biggest improvement was changing the diff fluid to heaver wight made for better grip.

    At my track for Slash spec, you are allowed ONLY aluminum caps, which is the only metal upgrade allowed. Then you can run RPM arms, Towers, hubs, any body, any shock oil, any receiver, any toe and camber, any stock tire you would find on a slash, any gearing. You must run stock electronics, springs and transmission. In my opinion, I love racing Slash spec. No matter where you go, there is almost always a stock slash class.

    What do you do for front camber? Also, I'm having a problem with my rear axles binding and breaking at the cv joint.(4x4) If I move the shock position out on the control arm, it could lessen the travel(down) to reduce or stop the binding, but then I mess with the shock stiffness and progressiveness. What would you recommend? I have bigger tires and drive a lot on soft dirt at our farm, but would also like to get into racing. It is mine and my daughter's first rc truck.

    Hi Jim. I'm a newbie to the RC world. I just purchased my first RC last month and it's a Slash 4x4 TSM. I've brought it out to the track several times and noticed a lag when going through a rhythm section. Someone said it's because I don't have a sensored motor like the Associated trucks. If you know what I'm talking about, what's the solution while keeping the truck stock? Thank you!! Ray

  • @SnarkyRC
    @SnarkyRC Před rokem

    Technically, all RCs are toys. A lot of people in the hobby are in denial about that. I used to race mod buggy back in the 90s. I raced mod Short Course Truck in the early 2010s. Unfortunately, there's not an RC track close to me that has Slash spec races so my stock 2012 Slash is just a basher.

    hey jim i was hoping you can help me with an issue im having with my slash 2wd having overheating issues with the brushed motor and even the esc since i installed the hot racing locked diff kit... how can i combat against this overheating, someone said it could be improper gear mesh, any other recommendations or ways i can lower the temps, maybe change the gearing so it is faster overall? i dont know how i can lower the temperature i ran it for mayb 5 minutes if that and it was too hot to touch...
    please help me can you offer some solutions as to how i can fix this overheating issue with the locked rear diff?
    thanks for any tips you can offer in advance, i really appreciate the information!! take care,

    Have you sanded down the tires? You did not mention it in the video, and there are no closeup shots of your tires, but they appear to have the tread sanded down. Additionally, in our spec slash class, you can use any of the tires that have come on the slash. Any favorites (Kumo, Goodrich, etc)? Thanks!

    • @jimvegas0086
      @jimvegas0086  Před 6 lety

      Sugar track sanded them down for me, actually they are worn out and need to be replaced. As they wear down traction gets worse. I prefer the "SPEC" tire the slash comes with over the Kumo or BF Goodrich.

    Jim, first of all awesome video!! My question is what would you do differently if you were racing on carpet track? My new local hobby shop has an indoor track in a dome and it is carpet. Same/different shock oil, shock position, etc. Thanks!

    • @jimvegas0086
      @jimvegas0086  Před 7 lety +1

      Thanks man!
      At our carpet track it has a lot of traction. High traction means stiffer setup to minimize weight transfer. Soft setup is for low traction conditions.
      For carpet try this.
      Front shocks 60wt oil.
      Lower shock eye outer hole.
      Rear shocks 60wt oil.
      Lower eyelet start with second from inner and see how it turns. Move out one hole at a time and see how it feels.
      In my experience, if you get lots of air time on jumps stay on the 2nd from inner holes on the rear. Gives more droop and is more stable on landings, but will make it traction roll easier in turns. Move them out to reduce traction roll, but will be more unstable on landings.
      Every track is different.
      Good luck!

    Soldering the wires will not give you a huge performance increase. But less current restrictions = less heat

    you never went over gearing or diff fluid. I have 3 slash , non prep, off road mod with a castle 1412 3200kv, and a on road slash with a Tekin RX8 paired with Tekin 4600kv. They are starting spec stock slash racing soon this summer so I'm buying another 2wd slash but just for spec racing.

    • @jimvegas0086

      All my other r/c vehicles used Dean's, it was just easier to run one type of connector. Nothing wrong with the Traxxas connectors, they work great.

If you want text me your email on here and Then once I see it I’ll text you back ASAP to delete it from this comment section. Named Tony
